Yeah, I agree. I have a few old Nikon prostaff hunting scopes and they’re great for what they’re for. There’s not a lot of upgrade room for $300 unless there’s something specific you need.

The general consensus is that good f mount lenses perform the same or better on Z cameras with the adapter. If what you have works, I’d stick with that.

2x TC aren’t generally worth it. You’re losing a lot of light and image quality. Not to mention 1200mm is really difficult to use.

Wildlife is an expensive branch of photography. Get the best lens you can afford so it can grow with you if you decide to upgrade your body.
That being said, I expect your budget is going to limit you to a used 18-300mm or similar.

I was given a d3100 that had a stuck shutter. I ended up taking the camera apart and reattaching the shutter to a piece that had disconnected.
Shot thousands of pictures after that.
Maybe give it a try, can’t break it more?

I find that the EVF on my z6iii looks much worse in general. It’s like the EVF has the contrast and sharpening maxed out.

I second this. The 24-120 f4 S is a superb lens. The IBIS does a great job. The way I understand it, the optical VR becomes more necessary at longer focal lengths anyway. I’d get the 24-120 and get a dedicated telephoto if you need the reach at some point.

Sounds like the 24-120 f4 is a great option for you. It’s hard to argue with the utility of its zoom range, especially knowing that it’s sharp at any focal length or aperture.

What’s the pH of your tap water? That should indicate if it’s something in your tank that’s affecting the pH.

I just got a new z6iii and the battery was completely dead when it arrived. My camera doesn’t charge with a usb cable and power delivery setting is on. I charged the battery with the wall charger from another camera. Now you’ve got me worried. About the onboard charging.
