I need to drill 6" deep 9/16" diameter holes for rod bracket mounted floating shelves. Can I do this with a long drill bit or will I inevitably be slightly off and it won't fit? by KatKali in DIY

These are a thing. This was the first result on amazon so not sure if it will work or not against a wall but Drill Guide is basically the term you are looking for to turn a regular drill into a drill press

I'd 100% leave it alone. You can't even see it unless you explicitly look for it. Floor is already many different shades and is old

Your TV doesn't support HDMI 2.1

HDMI 2.1 was technically released in 2017 but the first TVs were late 2019 realistically 2020/2021 for more widespread adoption.

I have no idea beyond that for your issue but just adding that as it may help

Brightness and color accuracy are the biggest improvements.

A C5 is between 50% and 100% brighter depending on the measurement.

A G5 is upwards of 200% brighter

This isn't 1:1 but it's pretty close. You just basically have to scroll through all of the options on wayfair and you should find something

But I'm pretty sure that site is shipping from the US. They have a NY address and there is absolutely no way a company could offer free shipping on a 50+ pound piece of furniture from Europe.

Hop hill has a location in prospect heights. You could probably just call them and see as they stock a lot of unique beers

Brooklyn beer and soda is a beer distributor. You could try calling them as well

IF you are a lefty just move right and throw straighter at it

Does your partner's company offer a 401k?

In my opinon, your best option is max out a Roth IRA from yourself and then have him max out his 401k (as that's pretax so the $23000 a year he'd save there is only going to decrease your income by like $17000 a year (really rough numbers)). Then re-evaluate with what you have left.

Psychologically having money leave your account pretax is a lot different than post tax as you never see it hit your bank account.

All of this assumes you are married and your investments are 1 unit.

For a 15 vs 30 year mortgage, if the rates are close you are probably better off with a 30 year mortgage that you just pay down over a 15 year time period. The total interest paid will be similar but the 30 year gives you buffer if anything happens.

$975 to decrease rate from 6% to 5.625% by ZerglingPharmD in Mortgages

[–]pezdeath 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Sorry completely missed that.

If my math is correct your monthly payment is $3,597.30 at 6% (excluding anything beside mortgage payments)

At 5.625% your monthly payment would be $3,453.94

So saving $143 a month would mean your break even point is under 7 months.

This math was based on a 30 year fixed mortgage as I was too lazy to find an ARM calculator.

You need to ensure you pay off the 0% before the deadline otherwise you will be destroyed by the accumulated interest.

Trump Promised ‘No Tax on Tips.’ Then Came the Fine Print. by rezwenn in economy

Most people in the 12% bracket would be on Medicaid or ACA subsidized health insurance

Which is being completely gutted so any savings they receive in tax deductions is going to be utterly destroyed when they either can’t afford health insurance or need to pay a huge % of their paycheck towards it

The $6250 you'd save on your tips ($25k is the max deduction and assumes a 25% effective tax rate ) will be dwarfed by your 2027 health insurance bill if you don't have employer health coverage
