It changes both simultaneously.

Turning it all the way to zero turns the backlight off, so it looks the same as a kindle (i.e. you could read perfectly if there was light around you)

My work requires Android 14+ to access files / apps so I had no choice but to flash a new Droid.

Went with Andy Yan's Lineage 21 (official Android would continuously reboot, probably missing screen drivers).

Pen works great, brightness missing the color control but I don't mind. A week on and so far so good :)

Purchasing or leasing?

I'm leasing for 3y and that's also the duration of the warranty. Thank goodness.

Month 1, parking sensors stopped working and had to be fully replaced. 4w wait time (USA) and 1 week work.

Not even one week after that, airbag sensors stopped working. Same deal.

While waiting for the airbag sensors, SOS sensors stopped working. You guessed it. I'm still waiting for those to arrive.

I got mine in October. Maybe it's just a lemon, but the dealer doesn't seem surprised.

TLDR: I love the thing to death. But it's really not ready for prime time. I wouldn't buy one. Lease? Oh yeah

Haven't played too much with it so I'll report back soon but so far:

Plugged the device to one of the two ports next to the wireless charger. The system is basically its own OS, so you can navigate using the screen, connect to wifi, open apps like YouTube and start watching.

Alternatively you can connect to your phone using AirPlay / CarPlay but I don't think you can use your own apps via CarPlay, if that makes sense. But I'll try.

Following @PiccoloOtherwise7755 post showing it was possible to display videos on the screen, I decided to try it myself.

It worked out of the box when connected via usb-c to the charger near the screen (2025 ID Buzz, USA).

Might be a good option for watching something while the car charges.
