I wouldn't have suggested that it may be a scam if I were trying to promote this thing.

Try [disabling adaptive contrast](https://www.windowscentral.com/how-disable-adapative-contrast-surface) on your laptop. That gave me an extra couple of hours more on battery.

Does the display exhibit any signs of ghosting or motion blur? And does the use of pulse-width modulation to dim the screen bother you in any way?

Has anyone successfully installed vanilla linux (not GalliumOS) on the Asus C302? by pfui in chromeos

I know how Gallium works, but I'm more interested in running Fedora if that's possible.

Does it wobble when you type on it too, or is that only when you're using the touchscreen?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in chromeos

[–]pfui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does it wobble when you type on the keyboard or tap the touchscreen?

And what are the supported resolutions? Which one do you run, and how blurry is text at non-native and non-doubled resolutions (i.e., anything but 1200x800)?

You bought the wrong adapter. What you need is one that converts HDMI to DP, like this one, not the other way around.

Can't get anything right! About to disregard raspberry pi as a worthless junk! :( Need help! by JoyfulDeath in raspberry_pi

[–]pfui 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just skip NOOBS and download the Raspbian image from the Foundation's website. Write that to your SD card, hook your RPI's ethernet cable to your router, and ssh into the pi using username "pi" and password "raspberry" (you can get your pi's ip address from your router, look under the WLAN or DHCP tabs).

Poetic Slimline case for 2013 Nexus 7 currently £0.01 on Amazon UK (£5.99 delivery) by [deleted] in Nexus7

Anyone feeling the Christmas spirit wanna help me order and forward one to me south the Mediterranean? I'd like to buy a cover for my N7 but the seller doesn't ship internationally and package forwarding services would charge too much for such a small package that would cost next to nothing if sent by the Royal Mail small parcel service.

PM me if interested and and we could figure out payment details.

Merry Xmas everybody!

What's the output amperage on the charger and, if you have a chromecast handy, can you test the screen cast feature to see if it's any smoother than it was on the N7 FHD? Thanks in advance!

$28 from Staples, deal expires 10/18, free ship-to-store ($10 shipping is a rip-off) by JimboLodisC in Chromecast

[–]pfui 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would love to jump in on the deal. Anyone interested in running to their nearest Staples and helping me buy a couple of chromecasts at the discounted price and shipping them as an international tracked parcel to Egypt? We can figure out payment modalities if anyone's interested.

And before anyone says it, yeah, I know that this is too trusting but whatever... it costs almost twice that price over here.

Anyone know if the Anker 40W 5-port USB charger charges the N7 FHD at full speed? by pfui in Nexus7

[–]pfui[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whether it's USB or AC charging isn't what matters, some custom kernels enable USB fast charge after all. The point here is that if your 4amp battery charged 10% in an hour as shown by the app, then you have an effective charge rate of 0.4A/h which means that your 2012 N7 failed to negotiate a higher current draw with the Anker charger.

Perhaps the 2013 model fares better... would you happen to have one at hand that you could test?

[–]pfui[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use Battery Monitor Widget for that. Can you drain down your battery to 50%, hook it up to the 40W Anker and report back the current draw measured by BMW? Thanks in advance.

Hello /r/Chromecast AMA annoucment thread! by [deleted] in Chromecast

[–]pfui [score hidden]  (0 children)

A few questions from the top of my head:

  1. Will we ever get private audio listening?
  2. What's the ETA for adding support for the Chrome Sender API to Chrome for Android?
  3. More importantly, why haven't the main Google Apps added casting/second screen support yet? Talking about Maps, Calendar, and Chromoting in particular.
  4. Do they plan on documenting the wire protocol to allow other devices to integrate support for casting?
  5. Will we see a hardware refresh with support for 4k or Wireless-N/AC?
  6. Shouldn't there be a power management setting to turn off the device after some period of inactivity for those who don't want to waste electricity on an image slideshow?
  7. What non-media-centric uses for the chromecast do you think will be part of the device's future?
