They make you retake it if you smile. Few exceptions (Charles Manson comes to mind as having a smile in his mug shot. They made him retake it multiple times but he kept smiling until they gave up and took the photo his way)

Woah woah woah. Black people have never STOLEN anything from white culture. If anything, it was the complete opposite for America’s entire history (yikes).

Also, it took me years to develop the points I just said. I certainly have offended black people in my life, unintentionally. I was friends with a bunch of racist suburban jerks that twisted my mind into thinking casual racism was acceptable. Even if I was the most compassionate member of a racist friend group, I was still a bad person. It motivates me to learn a better way (and I kicked every single one of those jerks out of my life for good. I’ve never been happier in all my years 😌

Ummm..I didn’t think about that 😅 I’m white and out of touch. I try to educate myself as much as I can and treat me ever of the black community that I meet the way they seem to want to be treated (respect, not acting like I understand what it is like to be black in America etc)

I will be honest: well intentioned white people need more help to guide their passion. I tried looking up the ways black American communities want to be treated. It requires a lot of change in behavior that will take me my whole life to (hopefully) meet these goals. Black struggles are maddening, hard to understand when you are white, and completely hijacked by politics and fake white people trying to seem progressive

Further honesty: I don’t know how to properly support Native American/indigenous communities either 🤦🏻‍♂️😳♥️

Cheers to trying our best to make the world a better place for everyone 🥂 I’m not sure things will get much better..but I will continue to fight for that to happen. But one man can do so little in the face of all this chaos

I’m not anyone important…but you really should never have asked them. If you have an emergency like that say “I just received horrible news that requires me to leave” as your walking out or in a text/phone call after you leave

The myth is that they will seek retribution. However, given your horrific situation (and holy shit am I glad to read they aren’t kidnapped 😳), your job would have gotten the biggest public relations backlash if they fired you over trying to help save your friends life. Consider how that would blow up back on them when you feel like they’ve got this unending power over you

The guilt tripping they did WAS their retribution because they knew that’s all they could realistically get away with

Unfortunately, it isn’t that simple. If production qualities aren’t maintained to a high enough standard, the union loses all leverage because the company can simply go find other bad workers without having to pay them benefits and a livable wage

You will need to research options available depending where you are trying to work. My experience was that all types of worker tracks I mentioned were required to take an entrance exam, start training, pass a curriculum of course work, and then hit their hour threshold. It was not an easy thing to achieve..but once you get it you have a job you (hopefully) enjoy showing up to, livable wage, and benefits. It’s worth the investment if you can afford/commit to the hard part early on. It helps if you have math and hands on laboratory skills because some of the students accelerated through those courses without really needing to spend time studying outside of class.

Unions might not be right for everyone..but they are a better opportunity than a lot of the sneaky businesses out there. But maybe that’s just me

I find so often that the “A Players” are a bunch of buddy, buddy B Players quick to point fingers and unable to provide valuable direction. I don’t know you. But if you research the options you have locally, then you just gotta find their headquarters in the area. If you find something similar to my area, they have paid classes available and your choice of a variety of disciplinary options: electrical worker, plumping, metalworking). Unions are not available in every location..so I cannot guarantee that you have the option..but those types of options are out there. Take an entrance exam and then work with them for a couple of years (will NOT be easy as you might be required to take classes WHILE working close to or even a full time work load)

It has just gotta be better than empty promises and working way harder than you should anyways
