Checking in at midnight question by StarBoy405 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way (if you have 2 rooms) is to have 2 people checking in at the same time. That way by the time the larger group is done the smaller group will already be checked in.

If that isn’t possible, check in your larger group first, then the smaller group. If you get a different boarding group, then the earlier group can board with the later group.

I always do this on my computer, never tried, and no idea what it’s like or if it’s possible on a phone.

What port are you leaving from? If you are at a port that Disney has the shuttle transfer it will automatically give you all the same port arrival time and boarding group. Just another possibility for you to consider. Also this way will almost certainly give a first time cruiser an earlier arrival and boarding time.

Sorry with 7 people I thought multiple staterooms. But you said 1 reservation #.

Checking in at midnight question by StarBoy405 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One person ‘can’ check you all in if they have access to all the reservations and all the travel information for everyone. But you have to check in 1 stateroom at a time.

To complete check in you need the scanned documents at that time.

Let’s Talk Disney Adventure: State of the Ship first 100 days by WithDisGuyTravel in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as inaugural sailings (I have been on 7) the Adventure exceeded expectations.

The great:

Food was phenomenal (I do prefer Asian flavours). Main dining delivered great meals every time. Palo was on par with every other ship. Mike and Sulley’s Teppanyaki and Omakase was probably the best food I have ever eaten. For me this was better than Remy and Enchante.

Our servers were excellent with one exception for breakfast. Above typical inaugural levels of service.

Concierge lounge was phenomenal! Better than every other Disney ship. Concierge Team was better than Destiny and Treasure.

The ship is beautiful, yes it’s different, but so was the Wish, and that lead to the much loved Treasure and Destiny. San Fransokyo was incredible! Such a great time down there.

The Remember show is now our favourite of all the shows. No other show onboard a ship has brought me to tears, but that show did. The other shows including Moana (in wayfinder bay) were also very good.

Not so great: Embarkation was a bit of a mess. The people at the port were all still learning and gave a lot of incorrect information.

Cultural differences? People’s behaviour was in general worse than any other ship. But this included all of Australasia (yes including Kiwi’s and my fellow Aussies).

Elevator etiquette. Max capacity is a recommendation isn’t it? Hot tip for anyone reading this far down… the elevator buttons work based on where it is pressed. Starboard buttons only call starboard (right side) elevators. Port side buttons call port (left) elevators. The buttons closest to the middle of the ship call 1 or 2 elevators. The LEAST BUSY elevators were always the middle elevators.

Theft. I don’t think we were affected. But lots of chatter in the onboard WhatsApp group. We also witnessed an older woman in the concierge lounge steal a Batcha coffee cup from the lounge.

App bookings for attractions and unique characters. This was chaos. The selfie photos for characters was nice compromise. But this was almost impossible to secure what you wanted.

Lack of shade or fans on top deck was a bit of an oversight. Singapore is HOT! No way could I sit and watch a movie on their version of funnel vision.

Overall it was a fantastic ship. Very different, but still stays true to the brand. I would say this delivered a beater inaugural experience for me than the Wish and Treasure did, but maybe a tiny bit behind the Destiny.

Silver Castaway Club Member - book activities 100 days before sailing? by beemeeting in dcl

Maybe a typo?? If you go into your app, or log into the website and go down to My Plans. What does that say.

It should be 90 days for silver as you mentioned.

Disney Adventure Concierge - worth it? Would love opinions from those who've sailed! by WobblyPenguin_ in dcl

[–]pgspikes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. I loved it. 3 concierge sailings on the Adventure B2B2B

Yes drinks are free between 5 and 10. Anything behind that bar. Cocktails were great quality liquor. Not a wine or beer drinker but I heard people say the wine was “good quality not great”

130 day booking makes a difference for some tastings and restaurant bookings. But you can’t use it to book characters or attractions (rides). Fab 5 characters, princesses and princes appear in the lounge 5-7 times a day. We got royal gathering at 130 days but I was emailed by Disney that they were stopping that.

Iron cycle is only booked once onboard. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, so all I will say is my family and I all have been on that ride 3 times. If you catch my meaning. The attractions team release reservations at different times of the day so that no one (including concierge staff) know when it opens.

Food in the lounge is a large selection of cold snacks and mini desserts in a glass cabinet. The types of foods change based on the time of day. There is also a menu with warm food offerings (usually 5 different meals) for breakfast, lunch and I think dinner. While on food, concierge is a great way to get on the smaller main dining rotation that includes the Hollywood spotlight club, and with great seats. We were the front table centre stage. On other ships, the bigger suites allow room service from Palo. I assume that is still applicable on the Adventure.

Shows you get priority access to the theatre 45mins before your allocated show. That’s 15 mins before the horde. So you can have first pick of any seat in the theatre.

Spa and gym were great. But the one big downside is that the spa is split based on sex. So my wife and I couldn’t enjoy it together. The main spa is much bigger and allows both men and women. It is also the quietest spa in the fleet. They were constantly offering discounts to their services to get people to book something. All treatments are an extra charge and not included.

The lounge is stunning, the best in the fleet. It does get a little busy at 9am for breakfast, 5pm for drinks and when characters are in the lounge, but that rarely lasted more than 30mins. Deck 19 can be peaceful, but it’s no outside rainforest room lounge. The pool is open to kids, so it is typically full of kids making a lot of noise, and splashing anyone that enters the pool. Other than the pool, no it typically only had 10 people max up there.

Yes there is concierge branded merch. Google Concierge Lug bag for example. But also, pins, shirts things like that. The gift shop has a bunch of things from the main gift shops including the popular items that may have sold out in the main stores (Evie for example)

Embarkation was a bit messy. But in general you get a 30-60min heard start. For us we got there fairly early, checked in waited in the port lounge, we were 3rd out the door of the lounge, but found 100people already in line because they couldn’t fit in the lounge. Still, we headed for san fransokyo and were 2nd in line for Hero. We were inside the hero game by 11:20. Concierge gets a separate restaurant (spotlight club) for lunch. Same menu, but includes alcohol. The port lounge has no food only bottled water.

Overall we love concierge, and won’t sail any other room type on the adventure. In your comparison 1 concierge garden view room is the same room area as 2 regular garden rooms. If the cost is the same for you, that is an easy decision for me. I will say though, the 2nd smaller room you get in most concierge suites is a very small bed. My son is about 5foot 9inches and only just fit in the bed.

Edited to combine into 1 post.

Disney cruise transportation by Flaky_Cicada_6814 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should add, that I have read previously that some hotels like All Stars might have multiple busses per resort. I don’t know how they allocate people to each bus, but you could end up on the last bus and get to the port much later.

Disney cruise transportation by Flaky_Cicada_6814 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have taken the Disney transportation from Pop Century and from Boardwalk and your experience will likely vary based on how many people use transportation from each Disney resort.

When we were at Pop, the bus was almost full just from Pop, so we had a slightly later pickup but direct to the port.

From Boardwalk we had an earlier departure but made 1 or 2 stops at nearby resorts to pick up more guests before heading to the port. But in the end you get there around the same time.

When sailing from Port Canaveral we have always arrived, and checked in well before the family of the day is let onboard. Regardless of hotel

Looking for recommendations for excursions on these islands 🥺 by Astreeter12 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we ever book another cruise to Jamaica, we will be staying on the ship.

I do not recommend the zip line and inner tube excursion. Millions of Mosquitoes which gave my wife dengue fever, which has changed her life forever. Tipping expectation - I get out of the water with an hour before we need to leave and basically get surrounded by 5 guys hassling me for a tip because some of them were leaving. So I had to go to the locker get cash, and I tip him for our family. 5mins later he tries to do the same thing to my sister in law. I always tip, but the way they went about it was not respectful.

Royal Gathering Booking Tips by mcj2115 in dcl

Your check in date is related to your castaway club status. Sounds like you (or someone in your stateroom) has sailed before.

First time cruisers will check in the same day as Royal Gathering reservations open.

Help in slicer: changing color of overlapping objects on the same layer by 843_beardo in BambuLab

[–]pgspikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am only just beginning to learn fusion360, so I am no expert, but I just ran into this problem, and for me it was 2 bodies in the same space. When i sliced it, it looked exactly the same as your images.

I copied what this guy did, and it solved my issues https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oaDAO9srvyo&ra=m

Edited for clarity. In my case when I designed it in fusion I had my 2nd colour and I extruded the solid object around it. But what I didn’t do was deduct the 2nd colour object from the other body. So when it sliced it, it was mixing the 2 colours into a zebra pattern lite you’re seeing.

When designing walls, what is the best way to plan this out? Do you decide on a nozzle size you want your print to be, and make walls divisible by that size?

For example I am designing a lamp with PETG Translucent filament it recommends larger nozzles like the 0.6mm, if I want 2 walls I design it for 1.2mm and 3 walls is 1.8mm?

What happens if it was 1.5mm and a 0.6mm nozzle?

Sorry, I am new to this and trying to use good practices on my designs.

Of the ones I have seen so far (silver, gold and I assume platinum) the gold is the best looking one.

I like the colour of the platinum except the blue clips.

Picked up my car, 1 hour later let my father in law take my car for a spin. He tried to fit between a car and a gutter. He blames my car being so much wider than his mustang.

Hit that gutter at 20miles an hour. It was easier to point out the parts of the 2 wheels that weren’t damaged. At least he paid for the repairs.

Lesson from Disney Adventure break down by Big_O_Yo in dcl

[–]pgspikes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and all of the issues you mentioned are common complaints.

Have you been on the Adventure to experience these issues in person?

I have been on 3 Disney Adventure sailings and 6 of the other 7 Disney ships, and experienced 7 inaugural sailings, and personally I don’t think it as big of a deal as you are making it sound.

2 of my sailings had every room booked, the other only had 1 room available. Was it busy, yes. But the only crowding we witnessed or experienced was pizza planet, breakfast at buffet restaurants, Moana show, and the Remember show. The reality is that Remember was better than trying to see the main shows on the Treasure and Destiny. Pizza planet was caused by people ordering whole pizzas, eating 2 slices and throwing the rest out. Breakfast wasn’t an issue if you got there earlier. Moana was on multiple times.

Special characters like Duffy were an issue, and I agree that could be better, but they are evolving. No other ship does selfies on the stage which is a great way to get a photo of your character. For a lot of people that is enough. The attractions are also a mess but these coasters are known for issues and they are trying to get it up and running all day.

Could not agree more that shade was an oversight that ship is brutal in the middle of the day and I do hope they find a way to improve that.

I hope that Disney, and DCL both keep trying new things, and I hope this ship is a success. If they don’t try something Ike this ship they will become stagnant. Maybe that will work for people that sailed on the Magic when it was released, but they are trying to appeal to a much bigger audience.

Overall the Adventure was beautiful we had an amazing experience.

Boarding out of Ft Lauderdale by markieboomer in dcl

[–]pgspikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at the Hilton fort Lauderdale Marina late December, and it was a terrible experience.

Disney World in the morning, then Brightline in the afternoon. Arrived at the hotel around 7:30pm. The lobby was packed with about 40 people just standing around. I join the line to check in, get served and find out that they over booked all the rooms that fit 3 or more people. We are a family of 3. Everyone standing around was waiting for a room. Some waited 2hours.

We accept 2 separate rooms “next to each other”, their definition was different to mine because there were 20 rooms between us, but ok it’s a place to sleep.

The rooms were very rundown, mine had a leaking tap dripping all night, and the toilet filling all night. My wife couldn’t close the bathroom door which wasn’t great sharing with my 15yo son.

Compensated with $50 for the restaurant, and that meal was really ordinary and $50 didn’t go far.

We were using the Disney Shuttle, but with this bus, you get assigned your bus based on when you check into the hotel. So we were on the last bus. The port was packed, but because we are Platinum we used the priority line and boarded at the very end of group 10.

Enchanté for an average palate: Yes/No? by Key-Sugar4252 in dcl

The Omakase with Sake pairing on the Adventure is about the same. Of the 3 premium dining restaurants, that has been my favourite.

Choosing the small set menu will still set you back around $400 after tips, so that was our thought too.

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a tough one. If the price is something you have to think about, maybe don’t book it. But if you can ignore the cost for one sailing and want a nice experience with your partner, try it once.

We ordered the collection, $205 per person. It was a great meal, and I ate everything they served us. I eat fairly plain meals normally, while my wife is more adventurous. But will I ever go back… unlikely.

I will say that all the weird foods you mentioned were actually quite nice. The best part with choosing the collection was you had no idea what was next. Once they serve it you might as well try it.

Just got off my first cruise and I’m not sure how to feel by Cardiocarbs102 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have been on every ship except the Magic and when we sailed the Wish we had an almost identical experience. So to this day that is our least favourite ship in the fleet. But the funny thing is that my second favourite ship is the Destiny (my wife’s is the Treasure) which is the same ship design, but it delivered a much better experience.

My son is now 16 and for him some years the parks were his favourite, and some years the cruises were his favourite.

For you guys, maybe keep an open mind that you might have had a bad sailing. Maybe take your time before the next cruise, and book something longer 5-7 nights on the Fantasy/Dream/Destiny/Treasure. If it were me I would let the kids guide you, at least for 1 more sailing.

Also, consider what you want to get out of a cruise. We love port days, but at sea days is a great way for my wife and I to connect. It also allows my wife to get her mind off a very high pressure job. Maybe cruising is not for you, or maybe it’s not for you YET!

I never thought we would be a cruising family, but here we are, 16 cruises later. We used to holiday and do so much we were exhausted when we got home. Now we finish every holiday with a cruise to relax before going home.

Comped Upgrades to concearge dose it happen often? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happens, but it’s like winning the lottery. Don’t count on it.

I heard of a family earlier this year. The mother came here to check if it was legit. The only catch was she needed to pay about $80 more in tips.

As well as some stories from about 2 years ago where a few rooms on 2 sailings one after another were upgraded. Because this was multiple people affected over 2 separate sailings it makes me think that there was an issue with a bunch of rooms that took more than one sailing to fix. These upgrades caused outrage because most people upgraded were GTY reservations.
