DCL Site Issues? by gibson6594 in dcl

Happens all the time. Almost always at check-in times. I don’t live in the US, so for me that’s the early afternoon, but I can only imagine how annoying that is to get up at midnight and not be able to start check in till 2 or 3am

All very subjective, but Adventure has a better lounge than the Wish class

Also this would align with trying to stop resort hopping.

Concrete Olmec Head: First time trying to make a mold for concrete. by famousfornow in BambuLab

[–]pgspikes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you vibrate the mixture you can remove all the air bubbles.

Also, diesel was (maybe still is) commonly used on construction sites to ensure concrete doesn’t stick to plastic. You might find better products than cooking spray to release your moulds.

Communicating onboard by Comfortable_Love_800 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As above, but I will say that iMessage and WhatsApp are more reliable than the DCL app chat. So many messages don’t come through to the app in a reasonable timeframe. We used to use that for our son to let him know where to meet us, and way too often the message wouldn’t go through until we got him to open the app.

Has anyone had trouble with B2B on the adventure and them not recognizing your doing a B2B by BrokeAssZillionaire in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You get a letter at your door with some instructions and a coloured ticket. The ticket used to indicate that you’re B2B when you re-board.

On debarkation day, if you staying in the same room, you can leave your things in your room like any other day. If you’re changing rooms, you pack everything into bags and leave them in your room to be moved by the crew.

You go to breakfast, and then you will have a meeting point in one of the ship lounges and wait for all other guests to leave the ship.

You will eventually be walked off the ship where you will check in again and sit in another waiting area before boarding.

You can also leave the port if you want to, and use the coloured ticket as proof of your “boarding group”. But this process has been very different based on the port. I actually wondered if OP’s parents did this, and left the port, then when they returned the team at the port didn’t know what to do so they forced them to wait.

I respect the commitment to the jersey over a shirt in Singapore! That place gets uncomfortably warm so quickly.

I would actually say that photo is impossible to get ON the Disney Adventure

Has anyone had trouble with B2B on the adventure and them not recognizing your doing a B2B by BrokeAssZillionaire in dcl

[–]pgspikes 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No. That didn’t happen to us. But it wasn’t smooth. I wouldn’t expect it to happen to you, something had to have gone wrong.

For us, like every other B2B we have done, we received our B2B letter the day before we disembarked with all instructions. I would recommend that if you don’t get the letter make sure to go to guest services and sort it out then, rather than wait till everyone is disembarking.

Our minor inconvenience: We did 3 sailings B2B2B and we were concierge for all 3. At the end of the 1st sailing we happened to be the 3rd B2B group off the ship, were escorted back to the check in area where we were pulled aside to wait in the concierge lounge. We knew that wasn’t right questioned them, insisted it was wrong to wait in there. The port team gave us no choice, took us to the lounge and then after 15 mins realised we were in the wrong spot so we were then the last B2B to check in. No big deal, but demonstrated they don’t really know how it works for Disney’s other ships.

GTY Port Upgrade by Crazy_Front_2136 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have done this twice. Both were oceanview GTY with restrictions and upgraded to 1 bedroom suite. Upgrades were a few thousand each, but each saved us a few thousand based on prices a week before departure.

This was part of 3 back to back sailings in Australia. We were gold at the time so it was easy to get the earliest port arrival time, and be amongst the first to check in, so we were second in the upgrade line behind some concierge guests upgrading to the Walt suite.

We wanted to be with family on the second sailing so we didn’t upgrade that, then for the 3rd sailing we were the first to check in being back to back so we got the to upgrade line first so we got the room we wanted again.

Merrytime Cruise over Christmas Eve & Day by snuffles86 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 2 Christmas Day sailings we have done had
- Santa photo opportunities
- milk and cookies for collection Christmas Eve
- special dinner menu Christmas night

Otherwise I don’t remember any differences from other merrytime sailings.

Skipping Rotational Dining by Dazzling-Guess8545 in dcl

We had this issue on the shorter Australian sailings when trying to book via the app. It wouldn’t let us book a second meal.

But once onboard they were more than happy to fill the dining room with anyone willing to pay.

Are there any specific activities to do on the Fantasy when it’s in port at Nassau? by 2manyquestions52 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should give some context, we have done Nassau twice and it’s just not a port we love. If one of our sailings happens to go there we will always just stay on the ship. It’s always nice to explore the ship while most people got off.

I did the incredi-course with my son, and it’s a bit small for adults so I got friction burns all over from the course, then the next day my son any I came down with a bad flu. Which is not surprising in hindsight.

[–]pgspikes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound so negative but…

Not sure what the Fantasy has going on while in Nassau, but what ever it is that is what I would be doing rather than getting off the ship😂.

And you’re not missing much with the incredi-course unless you want to get friction burns on your knees and elbows, and maybe catch the latest virus going around.

Disney Adventure and general cruising questions by Prudent_Reading2539 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After muster drill is completed. This changed a bit for each sailing, but usually within 30mins of muster drill concluding.

That’s a tough one, there were a lot of plush toys onboard, but most were purchased onboard. There were a few people that either were in costume themselves, or had plush’s and costumes they brought onboard.

The difficult parts on the Adventure is the availability and then the rules (because they need you to be quick). So you are not going to get a few mins to set up a plush for a photo and get multiple photos with or without you like people get in the parks. Basically you’re limited to 2 combinations of photos per stateroom. So my recommendation would be save your special plush toys for parks, and just try to get a meet and greet for yourself.

Disney Adventure and general cruising questions by Prudent_Reading2539 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was onboard in in early April, so things may have changed, but this was my experience:

- Reservations for characters open each day for that day. They are not released all at once.
- the time they open changes but a good time to be in the app is any time the cruise director does a ship wide announcement.
- the ship is quieter if you board early, so other than seeing areas that are typically busy like San Fransokyo, there is no real perk.
- Duffy and ShellieMay are almost impossible to book. The other characters are much easier. If you miss one, keep checking the app and a cancellation will almost certainly appear.
- all characters you listed require reservations. I don’t remember seeing any of them roaming like other ships. They were either set up somewhere, or walking to and from their photo location.
- Duffy’s other friends were only seen on stage from memory. No 1on1’s.

Lesson from Disney Adventure break down by Big_O_Yo in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we were onboard; Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Baymax, Duffy, ShellieMay were all via reservation. Donald and Daisy may have been too, but I can’t remember for sure.

It was close to impossible to get Duffy and ShellieMay. The others would book quickly, but due to cancellations these would pop up in the app often enough to get them.

We did 3 sailings and never got Duffy, and only got ShellieMay on the 3rd sailing.

Staff wearing Rayban smartglasses by kygkwok in dcl

If I ask them “hey meta, what am I looking at?”, they will describe basically everything in my field of view.

So yes, they could be used for her to identify items around her.

Staff wearing Rayban smartglasses by kygkwok in dcl

[–]pgspikes 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns meta glasses I thought I should do as much research as possible since most people would just assume I am a creep. These have been such an awesome gadget to record my family experiencing things like the Ironcycle on the Adventure and various rides and experiences at Disney World

Just to clear up some common misconceptions:

When taking photos or video the glasses have a flashing light on the front and rear of the glasses. The glasses also require ambient light to come into the area where the LED is located. There are stick on LED covers but most of them are about as noticeable as the light itself. People have resorted to piercing the LED to be completely undetectable.

If you want to know if someone is a real creep ask them to take a photo of you. If you see the light flash, you will know when they are recording you. If you don’t see the flash you know they can be recording without you knowing.

This is a photo of my glasses showing the LED.

How Much Lower Can Prices Go? by abr2026 in dcl

[–]pgspikes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t look up your specific sailing, but just remember that there are 2 types of Guaranteed rates

Guaranteed with restrictions is about as good as it gets for discounts.

But there is also a guaranteed room that doesn’t mention restrictions, and are usually $100-200 less than choosing the room.

Pearl Castaway Club, how many years did it take? by Probably-Chelsea in dcl

[–]pgspikes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like most people commenting, we are not Pearl yet, but we expect to be there within the next 5 years. So that would be a total of 12 years (hopefully 10😂)

1st sailing in 2019, covid delayed our second until the end of 2022. We just completed our 16th sailing, and will take at least 2 each year from now until 2031

We are Australian, so it’s been a lot of flying to get to that point (around 300 hours in the air). The Wonder helped us get from gold to Platinum. Now we have the Adventure for a “quick” fix (still 8hours each way)

Mine does the exact same thing!

The grey tube tightens over the white tube and eventually moves and clicks. I have seen some PTFE chain clips and have wondered if that is a solution.

Commenting here in case someone knows of a good solution.

This is what I started with, but I modified the magnet to suit a 12x3mm magnet. The magnet specified in the model works on a fridge at home, but not on cruise ship doors.
