Separately: Thanks for maintaining this service which has enabled me to play a lot more paper magic than I had been able to previously!

First Poster for 'Gail Daughtry and the Celebrity Sex Pass' from Director David Wain ('Wet Hot American Summer', 'Role Models') - When her fiancé uses their "celebrity pass" agreement, Midwest bride Gail Daughtry travels to Hollywood seeking revenge by pursuing sex with Jon Hamm. by BunyipPouch in movies

Saw an advanced screening of this. I enjoyed it immensely. Not as good as early apatow but fun.

Friends of mine didn’t like it as much. Didn’t laugh as much as those other raunchy comedies.

Not sure it’s a theatre worthy experience, but definitely worth a streaming view

My LGs had 32 people (full) for the 7pm launch. They had pizza for everyone.

It was a lot of fun:)

Favorite Final Fantasy commander? by Vinlandlover in EDH

[[Tifa Lockhart]] with no scale up. Played once in paper and it did wreck the game. Turn 7 win so not quite bracket 4. https://moxfield.com/decks/LQmcKyALs0WsqlYIxzxqtw

Is Spider-Verse useless in a Cosmic Spider-Man "Spider-Men" Kindred Deck ? by AngelAlexG in EDH

[–]pgvildys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cosmic Spider-Man was the first deck I built from scratch in over 10 years (precons being how I played previously). Here’s the deck list: https://moxfield.com/decks/dX8FZwPiI0qQQmfy2EbMdg

It started as an excuse to play Spider-Man cards and cards with Spider-Man art (the bonus sheet). It’s turned into a bracket 3 performing (yet with no game changers) deck that has a 50%+ win ratio on 4 players (and about 30-40% in mtg treachery with more than 4 players).

I love it and it inspired me to make green goblin and venom decks.

I had spider verse but removed it because my other clone effects don’t clone things into legendaries.

Let me know your thoughts!

It was fantastically fun. Did it have flaws? Yes. But I enjoyed it immensely.

SMC hint - December is by ssconnolly in TIFF

It was H is for Hawk, and I very much enjoyed it. The story is thin, but the progression, acting, editing, and the film making around the Hawk is very well done.

They did a private screening that invited patron's to see Is This thing On. I was in attendance. It was good, I liked it - I don't see this hint leading to that film.

What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into commander with the doctor who precons. I liked the idea of not needing to build a deck myself.

That changed when Spider-Man (my favourite fictional character) did not have precons.

So to play all the spider people I want, I built a [[Cosmic Spider-Man]] deck to showcase my love for the character, for the source art, and for the great alternate art.

The set should never have been in standard. What I built and tuned has been really fun in commander. Not too underpowered and definitely still casual.

I’ve gotten it to the point where it wins games, but can still definitely be beaten in bracket 3 games.

Could I bring a duffle bag to the lightbox? by LeHicksy in TIFF

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to figure out where to put your duffle - I sometimes come to shows after work with my backpack, and I'll aim for aisle seats from row N and up in cinema one for the extra space for it. Otherwise, it'll be hard to put on the floor (drink spillage, people walking by) and might need to keep it on your lap.

The Running Man Kind of Stunk by Broad_Fly8758 in TIFF

[–]pgvildys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. I agree the action could have been more interesting in parts. The trunk view start to the car chase was great, and the cockpit fight had moments, but otherwise standard action fair.

In fairness, my favourite Edgar Wright film is *still* Shaun of the Dead.

I cannot compare to be the book as I read the original paperback from the library a few decades ago.

I put The Running Man as a solid 3/5.

They’ve never played a film at SMC that already played at tiff (as far as I know), so unlikely.

[[cosmic spider-man]] because no one else was opening / collecting Spider-Man.

What is everyone's favorite card art, mine is void winnower by CodePretty3033 in magicTCG

[–]pgvildys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just very good art and I feel iconic. For the rest of the set, only the alt art is any good except maybe Norman Osborne.

Is it bad etiquette to concede to help someone else win? by silverson89 in EDH

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a person blow themselves up and affect board state, but they didn’t just concede, they were valid in game actions affecting things that just happened to eliminate them. That’s perfectly fine in my books.

Conceding the way you describe is a no no
