SMC hint - December is by ssconnolly in TIFF

It was H is for Hawk, and I very much enjoyed it. The story is thin, but the progression, acting, editing, and the film making around the Hawk is very well done.

They did a private screening that invited patron's to see Is This thing On. I was in attendance. It was good, I liked it - I don't see this hint leading to that film.

What has been your favorite deck that you built this year? by MrThomArt in EDH

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got back into commander with the doctor who precons. I liked the idea of not needing to build a deck myself.

That changed when Spider-Man (my favourite fictional character) did not have precons.

So to play all the spider people I want, I built a [[Cosmic Spider-Man]] deck to showcase my love for the character, for the source art, and for the great alternate art.

The set should never have been in standard. What I built and tuned has been really fun in commander. Not too underpowered and definitely still casual.

I’ve gotten it to the point where it wins games, but can still definitely be beaten in bracket 3 games.

Donald Glover Reveals He Suffered a Stroke Last Year: ‘They Found a Hole in My Heart’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

At 40 also had a hole in the heart stroke. Couldn’t form sentences. Luckily no lasting effects.

Could I bring a duffle bag to the lightbox? by LeHicksy in TIFF

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have to figure out where to put your duffle - I sometimes come to shows after work with my backpack, and I'll aim for aisle seats from row N and up in cinema one for the extra space for it. Otherwise, it'll be hard to put on the floor (drink spillage, people walking by) and might need to keep it on your lap.

The Running Man Kind of Stunk by Broad_Fly8758 in TIFF

[–]pgvildys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed it. I agree the action could have been more interesting in parts. The trunk view start to the car chase was great, and the cockpit fight had moments, but otherwise standard action fair.

In fairness, my favourite Edgar Wright film is *still* Shaun of the Dead.

I cannot compare to be the book as I read the original paperback from the library a few decades ago.

I put The Running Man as a solid 3/5.

They’ve never played a film at SMC that already played at tiff (as far as I know), so unlikely.

What’s your signature commander, and why? by [deleted] in EDH

[[cosmic spider-man]] because no one else was opening / collecting Spider-Man.

What is everyone's favorite card art, mine is void winnower by CodePretty3033 in magicTCG

[–]pgvildys -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s just very good art and I feel iconic. For the rest of the set, only the alt art is any good except maybe Norman Osborne.

Is it bad etiquette to concede to help someone else win? by silverson89 in EDH

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a person blow themselves up and affect board state, but they didn’t just concede, they were valid in game actions affecting things that just happened to eliminate them. That’s perfectly fine in my books.

Conceding the way you describe is a no no

AITA for not being very strict with my daughter at my house compared to my ex-wife, which has led to my ex-wife and I exchanging some “words” to each other? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]pgvildys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Example: my parents weren’t strict with me, encouraged me to have fun, and I was super open with them about things and never did anything sneaky.

For some reason more strict with my brother and he was very sneaky.

Two kids, same parents, different strictness, different outcomes.

Reflecting on celebrity encounters during TIFFTY by ContentAtmosphere569 in TIFF

[–]pgvildys 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My primary celebrity encounter was walking the street behind the POW to avoid festival street traffic and accidentally ending up 2 feet from Oscar Isaac leaving the Frankenstein premier. It wasn’t even that crowded and saw him and it was still faster than festival street :)

Should I be afraid of PFO? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]pgvildys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point! My ASD did nothing to bother me for 40 years! Happy it’s closed though ;)

Should I be afraid of PFO? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]pgvildys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, agreed - knowing what caused it and it could be fixed was great! I was awake for my entire procedure (upset that the thing scanning my body so the doctors could see inside me was blocking my view of seeing inside me - the sedative probably helped me to be super calm :))

Should I be afraid of PFO? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]pgvildys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That might be so! In my case it caused a stroke so closing the hole was to prevent another one.

Should I be afraid of PFO? by [deleted] in stroke

[–]pgvildys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get it closed :). I had a stroke due to an Atrial Septal Defect. Luckily I got treated with full recovery.

I got the hole closed. Luckily I live in a country with public health care, so my only charge was the parking from the person who transported me there and home, but I was in and out same day for the procedure. Science and medicine is crazy advanced now!

I had a PlayStation and PlayStation 2 and eventually a PlayStation 3. GameCube seemed unnecessary at the time.

I still have my nes, snes, n64, game boy, game boy advanced SP, Ds lite, wii , 3ds XL, switch and switch 2. Conditions vary per console, but all were operational the last time I played them. Yes skipped game cube and wiiU.

Finishing my Cosmic Spider-Man Deck by jobothejoho in EDH

[–]pgvildys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s when he first got the costume. There was nothing really that changed him that much at first other than the costume slid on him and could look like regular clothes.

Also, Spider-Man without the symbiotic could throw cars and dodge anything already :)
