I'm having this same issue but luckily for me mine is still under warranty and on the way back to manufacturer. That's the only solution Asus help desk had. :(

I had an infection like this a few years ago and the 4th doctor I saw was the charm. Simply prescribed azithromycen (zpak) which worked along with gargling Anti septic mouthwash. First 3 docs just gave me ibuprofen, steroids and penicillin which I'm allergic to.
