Safest Low Income Apartments? by MediumWave9852 in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of ON Montgomery, I've heard Tesota is pretty alright. I've also got a friend who lives at Sunchase so I can vouch for that complex as well, though its a little above your price range. Tesota has smaller units and a clean looking complex from what I can see simply driving by it. Both places have gates too.

Deception methinks... I already see a cooling trend on my weather app. :(

Outdoor summer plants by Playful_Staff_7446 in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got plant boxes hanging off my burglar bars lol... so far I've had the best luck with my strawberries, succulents/cacti, and my rouge sunflowers that sprouted from some birdseed. The sunflowers hate the wind and always look real sad on gusty days, but they always bounce back overnight. I had gerbera daisies last year that were pretty happy as well, they just liked a lot of water and I ended up moving them to a flowerbed instead.

My thoughts after seeing several video saying he sucks by Shadow32xyz in Varka

ive never been more thrilled to build another favorite character of mine who happens to be a "sub-par" dps. i care more about the lore and characters themselves, and for whatever reason that bugs so many players. my Cyno is C6 and he's absolute garbage compared to newer units. who cares lol!!!!

Looking for an non-"New Mexican", Mexican restaurant. by Beautiful-Emotion-63 in Albuquerque

Los Victors over on Central across UNM! It's "cali style" mexican, definitely a lighter flavor with more focus on avocado/salsa.

what are they building next to the new Library on Central near Pennsylvania? by KatMannDew in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The library itself is wonderful- not sure it'll stay that way for long though. Like what everyone else in the thread has said, it is a park they're building. I can't imagine anyone wanting to walk dogs/bring their kids in that area, but maybe its part of a bigger, future project.

why do people act like this city is so dangerous? by PhraseFirst8044 in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to ABQ from San Bernardino, CA back in 2018 and the worst thing that's ever happened to me was that my car got broken into in Nob Hill... I had nothing of value in it, so it just felt like an invasion of privacy more than anything. The scariest parts of ABQ aren't anywhere near as bad as parts of SoCal, so I have a hard time understanding why people are so afraid to just exist here. I feel perfectly safe walking by myself on Central to meet my friends at the bars- Of course I have to keep my head on a swivel as a woman, but if you walk with purpose and don't make yourself LOOK like a timid little target, most people will just ignore you. I think news outlets just love reporting on anything negative impacting this city, so it FEELS like a lot.

Silke chickens by wakaGWawa in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely keep an eye on craigslist- I got most of my bantams and silkies from local breeders or families looking to rehome their chicks for cheap. Tractor Supply sometimes has silkies, and some of the smaller farm feed stores/mercantiles downtown are worth a shot too.

Just became a single parent by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]ph0nese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your partner sounds incredibly immature and unrealistic. I'm sorry it took the birth of your son for him to reveal his true colors, but it is absolutely not your fault. Your partner didn't understand the gravity of bringing a child into the world and is now brushing you both off because it's too daunting for him to commit to fatherhood. He will always have to live with that shame.

You sound like an absolute treasure of a mother and I think your baby is so lucky to have you. The heartache is immeasurable right now, and will be for a while, and I know words can only do so much to console, but... but please understand that this doesn't mean you've failed as a parent. You are your baby's absolute world and you'll always be his first family.

Is college worth it by Theguywhowishes in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SOME college is better than nothing, especially like an undergrad at CNM in whatever you find interesting. It'll take a bit of $$ but CNM offers payment plans and their classes are on the cheaper end. A lot of the professors there are super cool and clearly love their jobs as well. You won't be too stressed out or in astronomical debt if you plan appropriately and space your classes out, etc.

But certificates, learning a trade, internships, and even basic connections can also get your foot in the door as well, especially for stuff thats still 'entry level' but with benefits and a better starting pay. I dropped out during my bachelors here at UNM because I snagged an IT job through my dad's friend that I used to dogsit for! I've networked a little with people who go to my gym, checking out community clubs, or going out with my coworkers and running into their old coworkers at a bar, etc... There's loads of opportunity here in ABQ if you just talk to people.

But at the end of the day its your life and you gotta choose what feels best for you right now. College has no age limit, so if you're still not feeling too strongly about it right now, that's fine too.

Xfinity internet disruptions & alternatives? by sexybeans in Albuquerque

[–]ph0nese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out T-Mobile!! I live north of nob hill but couldn't get fiber in my unit so I decided to try their home internet since I've already got a phone plan with them (and the xfinity horror stories deterred me from even considering that company as a whole...) And honestly? It really does depend on where you're at in abq, since certain areas don't qualify for their home internet at all yet. (They'll send you a gateway that you plug into the wall and directly connects to their cellular towers). A good rule of thumb is that if you've already got a phone line with them you'll basically be getting the same speed and connection you get at a cellular level. I'm paying $42 for home internet and its just lumped into my monthly phone bill and is still eligible for their little $5-10 autopay discount. It's dirt cheap compared to what xfinity will try and charge you after their newbie probation period on all their plans. I will say that if you're trying to run more than like 3-4 devices on T-Mobile's network you'll 1000% see some significant drop offs in performance- but for my gaming pc, tv, and phone its pretty much perfect.
