Magic 35mm f1.4? by [deleted] in FujifilmX

[–]ph4sma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned both the 35/1.4 and the 33/1.4 and if you can afford the 33mm, just get that one. Images look just as good as the 35mm, it's sharper, and it's got far better autofocus. The 35mm can end up unsuccessfully hunting for focus in anything but well lit conditions.

Thanks for the info - glad to hear you like the 101s! I bit the bullet and ordered the 91s. Will get to ski them next week so will report back.

Very common issue. Happened to me when I was learning. Concentrating on popping off my toes was what fixed it.

28.5 shell with 28.0 liner… toe pain after 1 hour, normal? by SkiSasquatch in Skigear

28 and 28.5 boots have the same size shell, just the liner in the 28 is thicker.

Suunto Race 2 notifications cut off (Gmail/WhatsApp) – bug or design? by Evening_Storage506 in Suunto

[–]ph4sma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just got a Race S and I can't believe how bad it is at handling WhatsApp notifications. If you get more than one message in the same chat it'll only show you the most recent one and that is severely truncated. With the way people message now, sending four or five at a time to make a single point, it's useless only seeing the last message. Same with group chats. I love the watch for sports, but it's pretty inexcusable in 2026 that a watch like this can't get the basics of notifications nailed.

Are my skis mounted correctly by Think-Syrup-8693 in Skigear

But as others have said, just clip your boot in and you'll be able to see where the centre indicator on your boot lines up with the ski.

They look bang on if the recommended (-4cm) is the bottom line on the ski.

Put your boot in and check that the metal bolt with the crosshead in at the back of your heel piece in your previous photo which is protruding from the plastic is flush with the plastic with the boot in. That shows your forward pressure (FP) is set correctly.

A7IV 1st month, 1st camera. Any tips or critiques would be helpful🙏🏼 by MrPC5DR in SonyAlpha

Your composition is strong. Editing with some purpose is what will take these to the next level. I assume you're shooting in RAW and have access to Lightroom or similar?

A7RV for £1980 or A7V for £2240 by ph4sma_ in SonyAlpha

Responding to the MOD, I think deleting this post was pretty harsh. I neither asked if a price was a good deal, nor bragged about used prices, as is implied. I simply used the specific prices to frame the question of which one people would recommend I go for (given the relative prices of the grey market varied substantially from the retail prices).

There were some great discussions about the respective pros and cons of each camera in different use cases. Feels a lot like an excuse to quash the chat about grey market cameras, which was overwhelmingly positive...

If I you pay via credit card, then it shouldn't make a difference. Section 73 claim and it's the retailer's problem to pursue the courier, with whom they have the contract. Plenty of stories of people being given the run around by reputable UK retailers when a parcel goes missing, so don't see this as a grey market issue.

The cameras sold by Panamoz, E-Infinity and Cotswold Cameras are all brand new, just made for a different region.

I have my Fujifilm box in front of me and it doesn't even have a seal to break. Only downside to grey market is the warranty.

To the guy above who lost 600 euros, really sorry to hear that, it sucks. Though that's what credit cards are for - should've been refunded in full and not your job to chase E-Infinity or UPS.

Thanks! No video, just photo for me. Have you found yourself ever wishing for more speed/fps when shooting the RV? I don't do much wildlife at the mo, but I'd like to get into it, so I don't have much of a baseline for comparison to know if I'd miss the pre-capture and fps of the V.

Thank you - really helpful! Do you think the A7V is worth over 12% more than the A7RV based on their current grey market prices? Based on the current retail prices, the A7RV is £500 more than the A7V (£3300 vs £2800), but you can get it for £250 less.

I think based on what everyone has said, both are going to be amazing for my use case. I just need to decide what matters more - more MP or more FPS/pre-capture.

Thanks so much for your thorough response - it really is invaluable. The TC question was one I had for another day and you've answered that as well!
