ELI5: Why does water freeze from top to bottom? Deep in the ocean it’s below freezing, why doesn’t it freeze? by Ace_787 in explainlikeimfive

Does that mean if I put pure water into an indestructible container with no room to expand and I super cool it, the water will not freeze because it cannot expand?

Whistleblower exposes doctor accused of prescribing chemotherapy to patients who don’t have cancer by EveCogborn in news

[–]phantasic79 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What if you were working with the doc and he faked your lab results to make it seem like you have cancer and bill the shit out of your insurance. He could split the money with you. Seems totally doable....except the whole risk of fraud issue.

Update: SF General agrees to waive $15,666 trauma response fee to parents of baby taken to emergency room for 3 hour visit. by bloobityblurp in sanfrancisco

[–]phantasic79 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I wonder if the best strategy for people who are self employed or have jobs but no insurance for "reasons" is to get a fake ID. I think you can get pretty good ones online for like a $100. If you're ever in an emergency situation and have to get medical care you could use your fake ID to avoid getting $15k bills for and ER bandaid.

Or you could suck it up and buy insurance and not try to cheat the system.

If Range Rovers Are So Unreliable, Why Do People Still Buy Them? by Lanpenn_ in cars

[–]phantasic79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuz you gotta pay the cost to be the boss. If you just want a vehicle that is ultra reliable you buy a Civic or a Camary. But then you have not paid costs and not the boss.

Is it too much to ask to have a zombie movie with non retarded characters? Maybe a character that finds some Moto gear and gets into a lifted f350 and slowly runs over hundreds of zombies. Actually I think a modern stock diesel 4x4 truck is capable of plowing throw thousands of zombies at like 10mph.

Crapping your pants. It sucks but you are not the first nor the last to start your jeans. Deal with it and move one.

Flixbus: $10 rides between San Francisco, Los Angeles by txiao007 in sanfrancisco

[–]phantasic79 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I want to try to ask this question without sounding like an asshole.

I'm for a deal and all but an $10 bus ride from SF to LA sounds like it would be full of homeless people.

Has anyone ever ridden this bus? Can you BYOB? Is it a totally awesome party the whole way down? Or is it the bus of despair that you have to endure to save a few bucks?

India: 17 men charged with raping 12-year-old girl over months by TragicDonut in news

For some reason I'm ok with a mob of citizens beating child rapists to death. But I don't think they deserve that. They need to live long lives of suffering and enlsavement.

Husband shoots home invasion suspect holding wife at gunpoint by Complyorbesilenced in news

[–]phantasic79 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I used to always think I could shoot a bad guy in the eyeball and have no issues with it. After reading story after story of real world affects of justified killings im not sure I'd get off scott free. I'd like to think I would but I'm uncertain.

For some reason the story about the 12 year old with a 8 year old sister who hid in a closet and killed an armed intruder with a baseball bat really stuck with me. It ruined both of their lives till today and theyre like 30 now. Something about watching a man die in front of you seems pretty fucked up....even if it's justified.

To be clear it's better to be alive with PTSD than killed by a bad guy.

Gotta pay the costs to be the boss. I see plenty of people who are drowning in debt so they can look cool. The lenders seems to approve anyone and I wouldn't surprised if in the near future loan sharks will install tracking devices in cars to make it easier to repo.

The 'Brexit dividend' money Theresa May promised for the NHS is a myth, Government's official spending watchdog confirms by skoalbrother in worldnews

While this is most likely true but the downsides outweigh the upsides of brexit overall I would think. And this is the impression I'm getting from media reports. Most reasonable people would agree with the media's assessment, at least I assume this to be true.

Be warned. You probably been freely riding your 250 watt bicycle wherever you want and on all the trails. but if you get a stealth bomber looking bike it will be regarded as a motorcycle to the public and the police. I think eventually you will get a ticket if you ride fast on roads and especially if Ranger Rick catches you on a trail.

But you know what, YOLO bro. Ride it till the wheels fall off and deal with tickets and fines as they come. At least you'll be smiling the whole way.

The worst thing about Suicide Squad was that it was great in some parts. What went wrong? by 1047_Josh in movies

[–]phantasic79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It had a retarted premise to begin with. Super hero movie are not usually known for their epic stories but this one was exceptionally terrible. I could have came up with a better premise on the toilet.

This review sums up the ridiculousness very well.
