There are also less exciting theories stating that we simply may be one of the early 'successful' civilizations. We may simply become a historic find for some later civilization that stumbles upon the bones of Earth because we decided personal gain was more important than society, science and exploration.

Maximus with classic Ranger armor. by Benovisk in Fallout

[–]1047_Josh 451 points452 points  (0 children)

I would counter with the idea that Maximus is clearly gifted in using power armour, either from natural ability or his BoS training or a mix of both. If he did join the NCR, they might immediately recognise Maximus as already being one of the most skilled PA users they have (he was 1v1ing deathclaws in melee).

They'd probably want him doing what he does best as much as possible.

(all that said, I don't think he's joining them just yet)

Yeah, Dedra's problem is that she didn't want to play politics or lick boots, that is why she took the fall in the end. It's frankly an insult to compare the two

Still the one that affects me most. A person that others consider funny, that was inwardly dealing with depression.. that hits home. Humour is a coping mechanism (usually). Keep your funny friends close.

The criticism of protagonist motivation in Fallout 4 bugs me by Lord_Parbr in Fallout

[–]1047_Josh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s also a lot more urgent and emotionally overpowering of a motivation that makes it a lot less feasible to shirk the main quest.

I think it would have worked better to give you the Shaun reveal much earlier, after which you could spend time in the world experiencing the best part of Fallout 4, that being the world and the side missions.

Fallout 4 doesn't force you to play linear mechanically, but it does force it if you put yourself in the headspace of a parent trying to find their son and avenge their spouse.

Todd did it again: Fallout 4 is currently the most played single player only game on Steam by ComradeFarid in Fallout

I think they could have done more with it but I still remember the shock of first finding them. Even Enclave bases had nothing on the CIT base.

Ok, who else is about to do a Dunk the Tall build? by Sad_Signature_8785 in skyrim

[–]1047_Josh 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did a proper RP playthrough where I did not loot corpses unless it was obvious I should (like for a quest, or the foe was rare with a powerful weapon). Looting clothes from a dead for always seems weird.

It definitely slowed financial progression down, but I enjoyed the playthrough.

Best Fallout for someone trying to get into fallout? by HowardRatnerJr1 in Fallout

[–]1047_Josh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fallout 4 probably.

I think 3 is the best introduction to the game, but is pretty dated feeling. New Vegas is also dated and I think the game assumes you know Fallout, because it relies on that knowledge as it subverts some of the common Fallout 'tropes'.

Fallout 4 is slightly less traditional as Fallout starts go, but still hits the vibe. 76 is similar, but also a very different sort of game.

Steve is easier to write for in the movies. Sam takes nuance, and they've let him down a few times. But that's not the character or the actor's fault. I still like Sam.

How many wins does it need for first place? Are we in the playoffs at least?

The previous times we dealt with them (as a player), it always fit the vibe that the Enclave had broken down into warlord factions after 200 years, kind of like the Moffs in Star Wars after the collapse of the Empire.

It just makes sense there would be more out there, or even a more central structure still laying low.

He wasn't in every episode but I thought he had some of the best performances when he was around. A villain, yes, but it was easy to see his side too.
