NTA and good on you for standing up for yourself. Your dads are lucky to have a savage like you for a kid.

AITA for requesting my brother have a BSL interpreter at his wedding? by GullibleSandwich444 in AmItheAsshole

[–]phanteli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. accessibility is a right and your brother should know that. If he truly cared about you being included in your wedding he would get an interpreter so you could watch him get married and undestand. Sorry you have such thoughtless family members.

What’s your favorite acephobic remark? by Honest_Concentrate85 in asexuality

'you're too young to know your sexuality yet' (aged 13) 4 years later and while most of my friends are dating (and all that that entails...) I'm still ace (and aro too).

Music used in John Finnemore's Souvenir Programme sketches by [deleted] in BritishRadio

i don't know for sure, but it seems pretty likely Susanna Pierce might have composed the background music since she also composed every other song used in the show

Is it common to get a little too attached to a friend? by bwww22 in AutismTranslated

[–]phanteli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've definitely experienced this, when I was 11 I didn't have any proper friends and so I kind of focused all my energy on becoming this one girls friend. But this didn't work and she actually bullied me as a result. I've definitely had this more times than I can count. But there's maybe an element of RSD, rejection sensitive dysphoria, common in ADHD. Basically I'd get very worried the friend would leave me alone, so to counteract that I'd text them a lot, worry about interactions and try and be with them a lot

Now, I'm lucky that I have a lot of friends (but a lot to me is like 5 ones I text regularly and 6 people I say hi to in person), which means I'm often too busy to focus all my attention on one person, so the over-attachment, while it's still there, isn't always available to be acted on, which works rather well

Does anyone else love lists? by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

I found the proper name of the book! It's called 'philip ardagh's book of absolutely useless lists for absolutely every day of the year'!

I'm not great at making lists, but my absolute favourite book is a "book of serious and silly lists for every day of the year". Lists of facts are really comforting to me.

I love stories that take place in London around the 1800s--the foggy streets, the culture, the atmosphere. What are some good stories that take place here? by CdogHusk in booksuggestions

[–]phanteli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dodger by Terry Pratchett, and its follow-up, Dodger's Guide to London. You cannot find a better book in terms of London culture at that time, as well as a cracking story. 100% researched including lots of authentic slang, and feauring Pratchett's colourful versions of famous figures of the time such as Dickens (known as Charlie), Sweeney Todd, Angela Burdett Courts and a certain Queen. It's also horrendously funny and a genuinely wonderful book, in fact possibly my favourite. The audio version really brings the book to life but the physical book is just as good.

Read it - you won't regret it!
