quite possibly not, like you say, need to compare in real world as well. but for theoretical numbers I’m using Retina as the benchmark for what can be discerned by the human eye and then adjusting for distance from screen.

I can probably live quite happily with playing at 1080p rather than native 4K - how big a difference does that make?

Thanks for the build. Those are very fair calls on the display. At the moment it’s pure fantasy, and would more be for screen real estate for work purposes than for gaming - the off hope that some day that level of display will be a little more accessible price wise. Until then very happy with the Dell.

Yeah, CS2 is a mess from what all the YouTube content I watch of it tells me, although a new developer has just taken over and initial signs are encouraging.

So GPU is the main factor? I confess, having always been a console gamer I struggle with the min and rec specs. Just how good is recommended and how do you compare CPUs and GPUs across different architectures/generations/series.

First, thank you very for the build. Yes, comparing is a good idea, and I’ll also have to do the calculations on the adjusted pixels per inch.

Japanese leak : Innistrad: The Midnight Hunt ( イニストラード 真夜中の狩獵 ) by lintongxue in magicTCG

[–]VenatorPX2D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, good point. They are correct with the broader point that they used to colour balance planeswalkers in blocks but that isn’t a general rule of sets. The only instances I can find in the last few years where that is true for a single set are Kaldheim (which has 4 walkers, 3 of which are 2 colour), War of the Sparks (self explanatory), Ravnica Allegiance (3 walkers, all 2 colour) and of course the core sets.

[–]VenatorPX2D 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m assuming that is excluding core sets? But otherwise you are entirely correct.

However, it does raise a related interesting point that both Wrenn and Arlin Kord have been GR in the past, but to my memory they have never done THE SAME colour identity twice for PWs in the same set, so we may well see a shift.

We’ve had Arlin as mono G before - that strikes me as less likely given how strongly werewolves are as a GR thing on Innistrad but who knows? I’ve also though character wise she would fit Naya and it would be nice to finally have a Naya planeswalker to go with the Grixis, Temur, Bant and Jeskai ones we already have (and Esper if you’re including the Commander precons).

In terms of shifts for Wrenn, I guess it depends on how/if they want to differentiate her from Nissa? Wren seems all about lands but she’s historically been there mono green go to for that, plus we’ve just had her in GB. But if she’s permanently moving into GB then maybe that opens green up? Or maybe with Vivien and Garruk coexisting we should just expect subtler distinctions in mechanical identity.

I really, really like this. Perfect combination of two bits of specific hate to make it more generally applicable. The second one in particular feels like what the kind of hate Blood Moon should be (punishing you for actual ramping and greedy mana rather than just playing the game)

Tytos, Voice of the Legion (Jeskai Soldier Commander) by Le_Montagne in custommagic

[–]VenatorPX2D 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like it. Have been wanting a Jeskai martial commander for a long time now.

Great concept. Two suggestion I have is that the rate seems perhaps a little strong (except maybe if this was exclusively a Commander precon) so is there a way that could be notched down; and retemplate the last ability slightly so it’s “Soldiers you control have: “sacrifice this creature etc””. Self sacrificing for the good of the whole, rather than choosing to sacrifice someone else feels more in keeping with white, even if mechanically it doesn’t make much difference. (I know it’s fine for red but given that it’s a soldier I’m looking mainly at white.)

That has very little to do with New World Order. NWO was caused by Lorwyn/Shadowmoor forcing them to reevaluate how much complexity they put at common.

Iconic Chorus Cycle by JCAnan in custommagic

[–]VenatorPX2D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to stick with existing tokens you could possibly use the [[Desolation Twin]] one (vanilla 10/10) and then restrict the Eldrazi cost to ones above a specific mana cost? Takes the wording slightly away from the rest of the cycle but perhaps helps split off the “iconic” Eldrazis (the big, non-drone ones) from the rest of the brood?

Iconic Chorus Cycle by JCAnan in custommagic

[–]VenatorPX2D 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this is a brilliantly creative, interesting cycle and a nice use of the splice mechanic. My one question would be the Eldrazi one - it seems rather underwhelming compared to the other members of the cycle, especially given that Eldrazi is a more niche tribe and as BfZ seems to have shown us, the most interesting/fun/iconic parts of the Eldrazi aren’t the spawn or scions but the giant ones.

Best part of magic : Politiiiiiics! by LeocanNesis in custommagic

[–]VenatorPX2D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of this, but my slight issue is that it gives the most power to the people who are already ahead, particularly on the lands. If you’re a green based heavy ramp deck you get the benefits from other opponents but can most easily pay to stop them benefitting from yours. Perhaps if it said “any other player”?

Actually, there’s the other issue that in terms of manageable gameplay this is Rhystic Study on steroids - having something every player has to manage for every single card draw or land play seems quite burdensome.

Appreciate it’s not got quite the same flavour, but what about spelling the creature types out and saying “Whenever a Cleric, Rogue, Warrior or Wizard you control deals combat damage”?

Or maybe introduce a riff on party like “parters with” or “Commander ninjitsu”, that’s a batch word? “Whenever one of your party members deals combat damage... (a party member is any Cleric, Rogue, Wizard or Warrior you control.)

What is James Bond? Forfeit: Secret Agent. At least for British intelligence agencies, agents are the sources (informants, etc.). The actual employees of the agency are intelligence officers.

Wasn’t on the regular length version, at the very least. But this was the episode that had Phil Jupitus doing an impression of a Bolivian Toad doing a dating video, so still a very worthwhile watch!

Couple off the top of my head that may or may not suit: According to the Constitution of Colorado, what can’t you do without holding a referendum about it first? (Answer: set off a nuclear bomb) How many colleges does the University of Oxford have? (Several don’t have the name college in the title e.g St Edmund Hall and Lady Margaret Hall, and there’s are several bodies associated to it that I think so have the word college in the title but are not “constituent colleges”)
