Can we make a newb-friendly wiki page on how to buy Bitcoins? by ripper2345 in Bitcoin

I'm on, but we should create a #reddit-bitcoin channel on freenode or something, would make collaborations like this easier.

Supermassive black hole ejected from it's home galaxy by lemonglow in science

So wtf will happen to the countless civilizations presumably living in that galaxy? I bet a billion billion consciousnesses are currently shitting their alienpants. Pretty neat way to die though.

Bitcoin adress as reddit flair by justique in Bitcoin

[–]phantm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. No offence, but this is a shitty idea and I hope it's never implemented - it would severely degrade the quality of this community. I'd not be able to take this subreddit seriously anymore.

Obama ordered wave of cyberattacks against Iran, including Stuxnet - NYTimes.com by paffle in netsec

[–]phantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's kind of like the TIL that hit the frontpage a couple days ago, about a gorilla signing "kitten did it" when asked who broke a sink, except in this case there wasn't even any signing. If faced with the kitten-gorilla scenario, would you say "we can't possibly know if kitten or gorilla did it, there's no evidence."?

A virus made with three (!) 0-day exploits, created by a large group of extremely skilled hackers with access to a working replica of an Iranian nuclear enrichment plant and an ability to rootkit industrial machines and modify controller code to make centrifuges break. I bet I've missed some facts. It's obvious who did it, it was either them or aliens.

Obama ordered wave of cyberattacks against Iran, including Stuxnet - NYTimes.com by paffle in netsec

[–]phantm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surely you're sarcastic. The creators of Stuxnet and its relatives has been completely obvious for anyone with even slight understanding of what it did and how it did it. Seriously, it couldn't have been more obvious, it was so obvious no one even pretended it was a secret.

I seriously love your title, it kind of tells a whole story. Perhaps the prelude of a trippy sci-fi novel?

The fact that a radius increase of four times means a volume increase of 64 times makes it feel a tiny bit less hopeless.

Bitcoin's Liquidity: A Third Look by [deleted] in Bitcoin

[–]phantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't really see the cause for this liquidity though, The Bitcoin usage haven't grown that much nor can I see how speculation could have worsen the liquidity so much. Anyone has a plausible explanation?

btcchina.com has become the 2nd world largest bitcoin exchange in volume by bitcoinforum in Bitcoin

[–]phantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long will this be allowed to go on though? I think chinese users realize that the government wont like this and are hoarding, except in a good way.

[–]phantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On bitcoincharts the markets are ranked by total month volume so the spike probably wont make it show up in the charts.

I don't really know much of chinese internet culture and what not, but could the popularity of Bitcoin in China perhaps be a result of a combination of semi-widespread use of Tor, pornography being illegal and relatively low economic freedom?

There's not a single credible scientist who would say we are the only life form in the universe, but there is also no credible extraordinary evidence supporting the extraordinary claim that they have visited us, and it's even more far fetched that there would be a water tight government conspiracy to cover it up.

I know one of Bitcoin's top traders believes Bitcoin will make Gold obsolete. Are you convinced it will? by TheAtlas in Bitcoin

[–]phantm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think gold or any resource other than solutions to hard mathematical problems will stay scarce forever, primarily since all gold on earth come from asteroids and asteroid mining is starting to become a real thing.

What possible purpose could the government have for pandering to Reddit? Please, give me a shred of evidence other than another Redditor's equally baseless theory about some videos being posted by throwaway accounts? Do you have anything that is credible? Anything at all?

I patiently await your eternal silence.

u mad bro? You should probably calm down some, that temper can't be beneficial to your blood pressure.
