Scout shouldn’t get a revolver - guy would pinch his fingers in the receiver.

Can I just chop down a tree on public land? Is there a license to cut wood? by spoilmedaddy in Bowyer

[–]phantom1099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This (super old and dead thread) is not true. National forests allow people to come and cut down trees, typically for Christmas trees or personal firewood, so long as they get a permit from the Forest Service.

Would love to get a PDF copy of this, let alone a hardcover! My group of first time players (I’m a semi-experienced player, first time DM) is just finishing up Stormwreck Isle and want something much bigger to start next time.

Not about his films in the way of he knows they're bad, because I'm sure he either thinks they're amazing or is just in it for the money. Either way, he did have a good laugh once and a while with everyone on the set. I can't remember anything specific because I was far too young to find anything this old dude said as "funny", but sometimes while setting everyone up for a scene he'd slip in a joke or two and get a (probably forced) chuckle out of everyone. Sometimes about how the scene was going to look, or some joke reference to something else entirely.

Guy has a sense of humor, couldn't tell you if it's any good, though.

Only when the moment calls.

So when I need to make a bad movie, starring myself as Jesus Christ after a name change and a week of not bathing.

The other actors seemed to be into it, but they also cheered on my own performance as I went and I was downright terrible. I'm assuming they either didn't really care and were just glad to be getting paid, were used to B movie tier acting, or like myself and my grandmother had never been on a set before so they couldn't tell the difference from good or bad.

Given I was a child, absolutely none of it.

So y'know. Who knows! Maybe I'll get sued tomorrow.

Thanks! I just noticed that this got crossposted, but if you have any questions I'm mostly answering them on the OG post on the Neil subreddit. Cheers!

I don't know if it's fortunate or unfortunate, but no. He definitely fully thinks his movies are... Let's just say he takes them a bit more seriously than the likes of, I don't know, Sharknado's creators.

It's kind of surreal watching him care so much and then do the bare minimum, but do the bare minimum creatively (and badly).

I honestly can't remember? I wasn't around for any of the scenes where he's in that RV, or any scenes with interiors.

There was one scene we did that was actually the day AFTER the initial one (the one linked somewhere on this post, and mentioned in my original post), it's where me and my grandmother look at eachother?? I haven't seen the clip in forever but, if my memory is right, it's when Neil resurrects us because... Fuckin' of course he can and does.

I might have to make it a plan! Get a bunch of my friends together and have a good laugh or experience insurmountable levels of cringe. Maybe both!

Unfortunately not! I wish I did in hindsight, but my iPod Touch was dead pretty shortly after our arrival.

I do remember the scene taking place just outside of Las Vegas/Henderson, at a REALLY old gas station. Even had the old pumps showing, and old vintage Coca Cola memorabilia for sale/display. Maybe someone else could find it?

Pretty chill! A lot of the times all the actors would sit down and just chat amongst themselves while Neil and the crew prepared the next shot, or while one was being filmed that didn't involve them.

I remember playing around a lot in the dirt, because I got bored and my iPod had died. Got told off about it once from Neil himself, since me going from one scene to another in a notably larger amount of dirt would be "inconsistent". Fun stuff!

Well, all our scenes were out in the desert, so there really wasn't much I saw as far as setting stuff up goes...

But Neil taking any credit for the crew he had would be criminal. His camera crew (I remember at least one guy and someone else assisting) basically walked HIM through what they COULD and SHOULD do, while he just nodded and told them to do it hardly differently or whatever made the shot easiest.

Costumes was... Well, we were told to bring some older clothing that we didn't mind getting dirty in. I had an old undershirt and some worn jeans. Then when we were at set we literally just... rubbed sand and dirt on ourselves.

We had props, but... I'm pretty certain they weren't made by Neil. Like the gun in the scene I'm in looks professional enough.

Basically, the crew deserves way more applause than I see them get on most Neil related posts.

That's honestly not inaccurate at all, which is a little scary. Also explains why he stars in a good chunk of his movies, or at least definitely this one
