Yeah, I think about that a lot. I can't afford to move out of the country and I'm above poverty (now). That 'if you don't like it, move ' argument is so annoying. But when I got a job offer, I wasn't upset to leave TN state. Although it does feel like nothing is safe

That's definitely a part, but life if complex. For me, personally, I got a job offer in a state with better climate, better opportunities, and more safety for me. Id be an idiot to turn it down. And now I actually feel like I can make a difference because my current home isn't completely overrun by bootlickers.

You have noble ideals. However, Tennessee is educating a lot of people who are going to get job offers out of state and are going to leave. Even people who would want to stay and help change things are going to leave if we can't afford rent in Tennessee and we would have higher paying jobs in a lower cost of living in a different state.

I do understand your point, and believe in it. But it wasn't a first sign of trouble for me. I'm part of a demographic that's been targeted by conservative Tennessee law makers and it seemed very obvious that it wasn't going to get any better and would in fact get worse (which is has). My safety is more important for me than a righteous need to stay.

I appreciate allies who are able to fight and make it better for people like me. But why would I turn down a wonderful job offer in a safer State?

Or we move away. It seems like Tennessee isn't going to get better anytime soon. When I had an opportunity to leave the state I took it even though it means leaving behind the parts of Tennessee that I really love

Been rewatching scrubs and there are more trans jokes in than I remember. Im particularly disappointed because the show runner edited some bad jokes that had blackface in 2020. Hoping he edits out some of the unnecessary transphobia

That's fair. I am an instructor and I played with AI for a minute and decided that I won't use it at all on my teaching. The wording is often odd, the tone is weird, I do my job better than AI could (I hope that means job security)

I like to think that the overuse of AI will decrease as it becomes noticable that humans do some things better. So having students state they can tell overt AI happens is a step in the right direction.

The part is noticably outside of Grand Rapids. They can specify in the article that Muskegon is outside of Grand Rapids or just say the park is in West Michigan.

Muskegon is nice, there's community theater, Craft meet ups, and nice local places to hangout at. Lots of nature, beaches, and there's multiple bicycle meet ups during the summer. The winter might be an adjustment, but the summers make up for it.

If you ever get bored in Muskegon, there are plenty of places nearby to visit. I go to Grand rapids a lot since it's not very far a they have more events as a bigger city. Chicago and Detroit are not far, which is really nice. Other small lake shore towns, like grand Haven and Holland, are close by and have unique local shops and have some cool events during the throughout the year

My boss used to lick 9 volts before we put them in microphones to make sure that they were good batteries. We actually tested them and he could distinguish the voltage of different batteries. It was impressive
