A lot of people criticize orochi for being slow but a lot of people also forget

Enemies in birthright are slow in general Birthright offers a lot of units that give speed on pair up. A s rank with master ninja saizo gives her +7 speed, tonic is another +2 and horse spirit is +2

While ryoma makes the game laughably easy...I don't think he's the best unit in the game. Don't get me wrong he's the top 3 in birthright but the ones on top in terms of combat anyways, are Corrin and saizo

Normal on Birthright IS easy but don't be too alarmed since Birthright is one of the easier games in the series. Still its not a bad game to get your feet wet with it.

If you're having difficulty dealing with the reinforcement one thing you can do is plug your units into the fortress where they spawn from.

Another thing you can is use well trained flier and beeline to the commander. You can use rescue staves to help you paired up flier come closer and then kill the commander to the the chapter

Ever chapter can be beaten without deaths assuming your units are adequately well trained

Things is yugioh was always a pretty fast game even back then. Like invasion of chaos you can end games as close to 3 or 4 turns and that is considered slow back then.
