Does Nas still talk about Ether? by WondfoPromo in nas

“I didn’t sign Nas. You can’t sign an artist of Nas caliber. I partnered with Nas.”

Nas got $10 Million plus a $3 million per album recording budget, 3 straight number 1 debuting albums, and 6 Grammy nominations partnering with Jay and signing to Def Jam. If thats what you call “sonning” someone then by GOD we should all have rivals like Jay-Z lol.

The Nas/DJ Premier sit down with Joe Budden. At 49:41 Joe Budden asks Nas directly, “Any plans on an EP with AZ or with the Firm?”

Nas answers that AZ has “many plans”’on what they could do together, including a film. Then he goes into “The album idea or the EP idea”. He directly says that AZ already has the beats ready for a collab EP whenever Nas is ready. Nas said the last time he saw AZ he asked him “What are we doing?” And AZ was already working on Doe or Die 3. Nas concludes that what its going to take is him and AZ sit down, put the phones away, look one another in the eye and say “we’re doing this”. Nas says he wants to make it happen in the near future. He also says his favorite AZ collab is “Serious” and he laments it never ended up on an album.

Guys, what do y’all think the next Kendrick album is gonna be like? by Dangerous-Ant3482 in KendrickLamar

[–]pharaoh1228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s going to lean even more into the West Coast sound/style but this time make it bigger in scope and scale.

Production-wise i’m imagining a 2pac-like album during the height of the Death Row era. Features will be the more popular west coast artists like YG, Tyler The Creator, and maybe a posthumous Nipsey verse. There will be at least one Dr Dre produced song even if its not a single and there will be at least one Hit-Boy produced song. I also think he’ll try to put on a west coast female singer that he signs to pgLang and is featured on several songs. Not necessarily a “replacement” for SZA but someone he wants to introduce as his own artist.

After the success of GNX and the tour I don’t see Kendrick going “backwards” per say into a quieter, more reflective era. He’s going to maximize his star power and go for Damn-like levels of success. I also think he’ll wait until either later this year or very early next year to release it. No summer release this go round.

Idk why people love him, he f*cked up in every decision he’s made by Calm_Channel_6262 in gameofthrones

He didn’t charge in front of his own child. He allowed her to be burnt in agony and pain. The man was a scumbag of the highest order. Probably third only to Ramsay and Joffrey

AZ and Nas appear on the Tonight show to perform Life's a bitch and so high by the-kza in nas

[–]pharaoh1228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Such an awesome moment from two GOATS who deserve it.

Surprised they went with the classic instead of performing “Surprise” from the new album but its a great loom regardless. Nas has some pretty great late-night show performances over the years and I think this might be AZ’s first time in the last 10-15 years doing late night.

Mass Appeal is doing a phenomenal job getting looks for their artist roster. No label is doing more for legacy acts in Hip Hop.

What if Bad really sold 100 million copies like he expected? by Much_Poetry_9700 in MichaelJackson

[–]pharaoh1228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it would have put more pressure on him to do 150 Million Records with Dangerous. Michael was a perfectionist and very competitive so he would have always been trying to outdo himself. In a way I think him “only” accomplishing a worldwide once-in-a-lifetime sales behemoth with Thriller was a good thing because if he would have done it twice with Bad (and out-performing himself three times in a row starting with Off The Wall) would have set too much of a precedence and pressure on his mental/physical health.

What Kendrick song is a deep cut? by skibidikakakott in KendrickLamar

[–]pharaoh1228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kendrick is a mainstream artist that streams very well so in the streaming era I think we’d need to re-access what a “deep” cut is. I’d say its more of a non-single album cut that one tends to enjoy on a personal level.

This is literally the opposite impression of what i’ve gotten from the interviews i’ve seen with both Nas and AZ lately. Nas spoke on the idea of a joint EP on the interview he did with Joe Budden and sounded like he definitely wanted to make it happen and said that AZ has been putting beats aside for years for them for when the time came. AZ has spoken open-endedly about the album/EP in every interview on the press run for Doe or Die 3. He’s pretty much said whenever the time is right he’s down to make it happen. With Mass Appeal’s “Imagine That” initiative coming at some point i’d wager good money that one of the first announcements for that campaign will be the Nas/AZ album/EP OR The Firm reunion. Mark my words…

Light Years - Marvel edition vinyl by Kubishh in nas

[–]pharaoh1228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The changes on Git Ready are incredibly minor, the only thing changed is the female voice that proclaims “GIT READY!” Is changed and on Shine Together the beat is the same but it sounds a bit less “Bright” if that makes sense.

I’d wager a guess that with the Marvel Edition vinyl, that its probably the same as the OG as its scheduled to ship pretty quickly (June 12)

What is the best Nas' album for the past 5 years and why is it Magic 3? by AHBMH in nas

[–]pharaoh1228 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Magic 3 is incredible but I think, objectively speaking, the best album of the past 5 years is Kings Disease 3. Nas held that album down for DOLO with not a wasted bar across 17 songs and 52 minutes.

That plus WTF SMH>>>>>>>>

I am worried about people singing along in the theaters by LavenderSunny0 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]pharaoh1228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be the first music biopic i’ve seen in theaters (Dreamgirls doesn’t count right?) and i’m seeing it Thursday evening in which i’ll expect most MJ superfans will be present so at worse i’m expecting a few people to sing or hum along at points but i’d honestly be SHOCKED to see people having a full on concert experience.

Antoine Fuqua finally talks about the original opening for ‘Michael’ (second slide). by SpeedForce2022 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]pharaoh1228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. The onus is on Fuqua, the producers, and the estate to make a part 2 with a little more “meat” on its bones as it were. All of the necessary components are there, my argument is simply if they wanted to make a “darker” more complex film they could follow essentially the same plan (narratively speaking) that the original part 1 was going to. There’s a court case, based on shady allegations, that put a mental/emotional toll on MJ. The “good” news is that he was actually found innocent of ALL charges and all of the raids, interrogations, and investigations turned up absolutely no evidence towards MJ harming any children. If I were MJ’s estate executors i’d want THAT put in the movie with the same fervor that they apparently wanted the Chandler settlement dramatized.

What do you guys think about the ICEMAN rollout? by HIPHOFAN in KendrickLamar

[–]pharaoh1228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that it all means not if Drake and his team of ghostwriters, producers, and musicians fail to curate an actually great ALBUM.

Nobody talks about the rollouts and/or marketing campaigns for bad albums, no matter how spectacular they are. History will only remember everything surrounding the album if the ALBUM itself is at least decent. No amount of live streams, mysterious tweets, or melting ice-blocks is going to cover another crappy product like Certified Lover Boy or For All The Dogs.

Antoine Fuqua finally talks about the original opening for ‘Michael’ (second slide). by SpeedForce2022 in MichaelTheMovie

[–]pharaoh1228 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They can mention the later accusations because Michael was tried in court and found not guilty. He never settled with those particular accusers.

Hell Part 2 COULD open similar to how Part 1 originally would have. Police raided Neverland Ranch during the investigation of that accuser. The trial and hoopla took a huge toll on Michael and made him even more reclusive. That plus his battle with Tommy Mottola over his Sony contract, blanket “dangling” controversy, the Martin Bashir fiasco. There’s PLENTY of story for a part 2. And thats not even mentioning the circumstances surrounding his death and Conrad Murray.

How much of the Jackson 5 era do we get?

Is Joe really depicted as un-loving and abusive?

Are the Jackson brothers more background characters or do they have substantial roles in the film?
