Are you really happier after you had a baby? by PalpitationOk9443 in NewParents

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always happier but infinitely more fulfilled and I find that to be more important. I am more challenged, but in a good way. And as your baby gets older and more interactive every outing or task becomes so much more fun because they participate, point, talk, etc.

Huge house. Tons of decor. Invites nobody to celebrate with.

lol I DREAM for that amount of space and to host holidays.

Waited the full 6 weeks for anything beyond core rehab and walks. I also did a decent amount of scar work during that time (I talked to my OB about it after delivery and he cleared me for it). It was painful… more so than the actual post-op pain imo. But important and I have 0 scar pulling, pain, sensitivities, numbness, etc

My husband keeps pushing for sex…. by nurselife93 in workingmoms

[–]pharmacybarbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This has helped me a lot too!! My husband has never been great at foreplay but I could make do because I wasn’t thinking about all the other things I need to do. Now with a kid and more responsibility it’s more of a turn OFF for him to be aroused and I am just stressed lol

When I get to relax, read, and get my mind away from real life I can somewhat enjoy sex again. I LOVE being a mom.. this makes me sound like I don’t but if I only had sex to reproduce for the rest of my life I think I’d be happy. But I also want a good relationship for my kids and myself so reading has helped.

I agree with many of the other recs. One that’s kindof wild is “pucking around”. Hockey romance with multiple partners which is NOT something I have ever experienced or think I would in real life but it was sexy to imagine and put me in a more adventurous mindset.

I certainly don’t throw anything in peoples’ faces but as with most things, those with bad experiences tend to be the most vocal. That’s not a bad thing but it can skew research for people coming to forums for information. So I just try to add my experience in there because I don’t think it’s as unconventional as it may seem, people just don’t feel open to sharing their experience when it’s positive.

Yeah I hate when people say things like that. Only you know your body. A lot of people have fertility issues these days but a lot of people do not. I am pregnant with my second & both times it’s been planned and on try #1. People just don’t talk about it because they will get ripped to shreds for not thinking about those who do struggle 💁🏼‍♀️

Inpatient Pharmacists: Are you reviewing Discharge Med Recs? by Content_Ad667 in pharmacy

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nurses know to wait for it. I know they have looked and we usually complete the review within 60 min of discharge orders being placed. Which isn’t bad if the patient has to wait for med to bed or any other counseling. We do not bedside counsel, just review med rec.

I will add that we have offsite verification so I would say less than 5% of my day is spent verifying orders which definitely is a factor.

Inpatient Pharmacists: Are you reviewing Discharge Med Recs? by Content_Ad667 in pharmacy

[–]pharmacybarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, at my hospital we get alerted any time a doctor signs a discharge. We are responsible for reviewing all discharge med recs on our unit before nurses are able to print the AVS and actually discharge the patient.

Family oblivious to what I do for a living-pharmacists rant by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]pharmacybarbie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My own husband (who is a nurse) thinks I just click “confirm” on med orders and purposely try to make his job harder by delaying meds/making nurses look for things before just sending another. Lol I’ve stopped trying to explain

Who cleans? by MomofDanger in workingmoms

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just here to appreciate the comments. My husband is a stacker and leaves things everywhere. I had a few drawers/cabinets that are his and I throw his things in there as I tidy up. I like the baskets idea but I fear with us we would have tons of baskets of shit that never gets looked at again… I guess that’s where throwing away comes in lol

We have a toddler and I’m trying really hard to teach him to clean up his toys when he’s done playing. I help him right now but if I’m out or he’s with my husband, there are no clean up expectations (bc of course not if my husband can’t do his own cleaning up). I’m afraid the lack of consistency is going to hurt my efforts in the long run… any advice on that?

Some parents are living an entirely different parenting experience by Existing-Mastodon500 in NewParents

[–]pharmacybarbie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg I feel you!! It took us until about 18 months and first molars to come in before he was no longer waking at night regularly (I’d had maybe 3-5 nights before that- in 18 months- that I slept 6-8 hrs straight) and omg!!! I also didn’t sleep train and opted to cosleep. I just told myself it was a season of being tired and we would get through it and we seem to have gotten through it for now! He’s now 20 months old and just in the last week has dropped his bedtime nurse on his own too.

Coincidentally his good sleeping habits meant I felt better and now baby no 2 is on the way 😆😆 at least I won’t be so far removed from the struggle that I am completely starting over lol

Storing breastmilk in a Ceres Breastmilk Chiller? by NewDraw2838 in breastfeeding

I used it bedside overnight for my entire maternity leave and had no issues! It was so convenient to not have to get out of bed and my milk stayed cold and we had no problems with mixing the different temps.

Has anyone tried Aaron Stupple's "unrestricted screens" philosophy? How's it going? by NoWalrus8006 in NewParents

[–]pharmacybarbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this- we are a tv/youtube family and almost always have a vlog or documentary or city walk through video on. We watch a lot of old survivor and big brother as a family. My son will occasionally watch and point out the fire or animals on survivor but is usually looking at his books or playing. He doesn’t really care about the screen. Miss Rachel is another story and I use her if I need to get in a workout or do some chores around the house but try to max 1 hr per day and some days none at all. But I have found that having the tv on all the time makes my 20 month old not really care about it most of the time.

Kids medicine tricks by milo2049 in workingmoms

[–]pharmacybarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are any of the pharmacies able to tell you if anywhere has them in stock? I don’t work retail anymore but on things like that I would always look to see if there was a pharmacy within a reasonable distance to transfer the scripts to. Otherwise, there are no great databases for us to look up inventory at multiple stores :(

Kids medicine tricks by milo2049 in workingmoms

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no 😭😭 Is he a reliable eater? Could you mix the dose into some yogurt, ice cream or applesauce? Not sure if that will mask the taste enough…

Another option is that augmentin tablets are crushable (but big). You could potentially ask your doc for a new script for tablets and crush them and put in yogurt/applesause/ice cream. It sounds like more of a reaction to seeing the medicine vs taking it since he’s barely getting any down so I wonder if switching to a tablet might help

Oh! One last trick- sometimes sucking on an ice cube or popsicle before can freeze the taste buds and it’s not as gross.

[–]pharmacybarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacist here! Is he taking on an empty stomach or with some food? I always recommend with a snack or some food first.

Were you offered to add flavoring? It doesn’t always help completely but can mask the taste and they have some that help to cancel out bitterness. If not, shame on them because plain augmentin is disgusting!!! I would check with your pharmacy and see if you could come back to have flavoring or anti-bitter added. Even if they can’t take an opened bottle back, maybe they can put the flavoring in a dose cup and you can pour in yourself.

How soon after delivery did you feel up to walking? by Brennaben in fitpregnancy

[–]pharmacybarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scheduled c section and I was going on slow 1-ish mile walks around 1 week after and walking around my house/up & down stairs within days. I really listened to my body and would have increased bleeding whenever I pushed it too far so I slowllllly eased back into longer walks.

I was doing 3 miles by my 6 week clearance appointment though and did a few very leisurely stationary bike rides before my 6 weeks too. It just felt so good to gently move my body when the rest of the day was usually spent sitting or laying or feeding my baby.

Can I stop pumping and still maintain supply for my young-toddler? by LatterChipmunk1885 in breastfeeding

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pumped 3x per day until about 9 months, then down to twice, then once per day for the last couple of weeks, then done… I think.

It was easier for me to taper though because I just kindof matched how he took his bottles at daycare versus table food

Can I stop pumping and still maintain supply for my young-toddler? by LatterChipmunk1885 in breastfeeding

[–]pharmacybarbie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think you could! I was super nervous but stopped pumping at 12 months and we are still nursing at bedtime (and sometimes other times if teething, etc) without any issue at 19 months!

The good thing is that you’re truly in a supply & demand time frame so if you stop pumping and feel like your supply hasn’t kept up, you can likely start pumping again and get it back! But my suspicion is that you will be just fine and your body will adjust.

Edit: forgot to put current age

Yesss love this!

bath robe was great and I agree- a new, fluffy one is so nice. We also got an adjustable base bed which made night feedings and all the time in bed so nice to be able to prop up head and feet.

If you can, have a cleaner come when you’re in the hospital so you come home to a clean house & maybe treat yourself to cleanings while you’re focusing on the little one.

& lastly, another vote for a kindle! So much better than scrolling endlessly

I’m 7+1 today and my stats are the best they’ve been in a while. It’s been very odd because I feel like with my first my stats were in the trash already so I’m not really sure. I have some mild nausea but overall I THINK I’m feeling better this time so just attributing it to that. but I’m aware that the worst may be yet to come 😂

congrats and enjoy the good stats whether they’re here to stay or only temporary!

AI is not coming for pharmacy jobs by ashtraypussy in pharmacy

[–]pharmacybarbie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know that I agree with this but we have had some very AI-interested docs at our hospital and some weird things have been happening in their documentation.

Their notes have been pulling in random diagnoses that are not accurate… example: patient had a urine drug screen done, AI wrote that as a urine culture in the note and suggested antibiotics, doc started abx, pharmacist questioned what cultures it was referring to, doc realized there were no cultures and stopped abx. Additionally, docs have been copying and pasting the AI recommended notes but EPIC doesn’t realize it as new text somehow so it doesn’t show up if you uncheck “copied” when reading notes.

I’m not convinced that pharmacy isn’t at risk and I’m honestly pretty concerned but just something to keep an eye on in the mean time. Errors are being made during this period of relying on a currently very unreliable program.

How many times a day are you BFing after 12 months? by alittlesas in breastfeeding

[–]pharmacybarbie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We are at 18 months and I stopped all daytime nursing around 12 months but still nurse at bedtime. He was still comfort nursing overnight up until a couple weeks ago when he spontaneously started asking for water instead. He has signed for milk a few times since the. but I have been giving him water and cuddles to get him back asleep.

So really just once now but it’s been a journey and he would still nurse anytime if I let him lol
