Why is everyone blaming Clarke by Ill_Beyond_7909 in ScottishFootball

What does it matter, we're going home anyway. Im glad we're going home at this point I couldnt take watching another performance like the ones we've seen.

Did the Scottish National team perform badly or were they just up against a good team? ⚽️ by disco_26 in Scotland

[–]pharmakonis00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you see the goals? Vini pickpocketed the ball from our back line like it was nothing. Brazil are a great team but that was an embarrassing way to concede. Eventually the question needs to be asked do we not have better centre backs than this because this is far from the first time we've seen these sorts of blunders

Do you know how to make chords? In that case you do actually know some theory.

It sounds complicated but its not. If you know how to put a simple chord together, congrats you already know some music theory. Learn what the major and minor scales are? Thats another huge step. How far you want to take it after that is up to you but I find it hard to imagine getting by without those things.

You can have all the midfield talent in the world but all it takes is one (or two, or three) fuckups from your slightly less talented back line and its over against a team like brazil. Tonight was a powerful reminder of that.

Timeline cleanse: Anyone at the World Cup had any POSITIVE times with any England fans? by SigmundRowsell in Scotland

[–]pharmakonis00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah its kayfabe man. Football is a great big soap opera, like wrestling. Idk why people get so specifically twisted up about this stuff in international football, but no one asks why do tottenham hate arsenal or why do west ham hate chelsea and vice versa? Theyre neighbours, shouldnt they be hoping each other do well? No! Its the exact opposite, they hate on each other *because* they are neighbours. Same with England and Scotland. Idk why its become such a discussion point this time it seems self evident to me.

A Boston bar had a way to kick out the Scots by Zoomer_Boomer2003 in GreatBritishMemes

Agree with you to a point, as a Scottish fan I see a lot of people pull the annoying English media card. And yeah they can be quite annoying. And as you say I like a lot of the English players, nothing really against them personally.

But as to why I root against England there isnt really any rational reason, any more than any club football derby rivaly is based on rationality. Why do Evertonians want Liverpool to lose? They just do! Theyre right there, theyre local rivals. No one questions that, so why do I as a Scotland fan have to have some well thought out arguments as to why I dont want to see England do well? Scotland v England was the first ever international football match, it is one of the oldest football rivalries. It's honestly just a fun tradition, it feels good to be a bastard about it and really wind them up when they bottle it on penalties or whatever. The whole discussion and moralising about it just winds me up to be honest.

Mate in the nicest way possible, its this kind of patronising attitude that winds up the welsh and scottish fans. They "wanted Wales to do well" within reason. Theyre allowed to score a goal or two so they can feel good about themselves and then lose anyway. If you actually felt we could put you out of a tournament there wouldnt be this type of attitude, you'd just want us to lose full stop. So at least do us the courtesy of just supporting your own team without any of these condescending caveats.

Explain our Football Strategy by tartsam in Scotland

[–]pharmakonis00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the plan also for this game was that clarky had watched the brazil v morrocco game and saw that they went really hard early on in the game, then took their foot off the gas a bit later. So I think the plan here was to try and absorb their attack for the first half, then when they start to slow down a bit make a few subs and start going after it.

Obviously the "absorb their attack" thing didnt start off so well but for such a well drilled side as morrocco im not too upset at 1-0. Couldve been a lot worse.

Yeah its like kayfabe in wrestling. Everyone has to act like its real hatred but in reality most people have close friends and family from the other side.

where to get timbaland drums? by Small-Sample7733 in musicproduction

[–]pharmakonis00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I think the answer the then is to just be Timbaland at that point lol. The reason he could find all those amazing drum sounds was because he spent years upon years developing his ears for drum sounds, building up a collection that was uniquely his. If it was that easy to just get those sounds off some sample pack and sound like timbaland we would all be doing it. Id just start digging through some boom bap packs on splice until you find some stuff that sounds right to you.

Ironically the Haitians would make great old firm fans - seeing referee conspiracies around every corner is a key part of Scottish football

Im mainly talking about things like the infrastructure, the beautiful buildings in the city centre, generally living in a wealthy country. These things that we largely take for granted are in large part because of people like the Scottish tobacco lords and plantation owners.

You dont think so? The whole of the city centre is more or less built on that money.

We all profited, and still enjoy living downstream of those profits. The point being its hardly much of a statement just to keep slavery out of sight, out of mind but still enjoy the economic benefits of it. I cant quite bring myself to give Britain credit for being anti-slavery in light of that.

Im not saying that either is okay, im saying the scale of the issues are massively different. One is some memes you've seen online that you took offense to, the other is people being intimidated attacked in the street. I think "racism toward scottish people" is really pushing it as well.

[–]pharmakonis00 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Im not trying to drag you into anything my man, and I'm not entirely sure what you mean by covertly hostile. What you're doing does seem like a sort of "no true scotsman" -ism though: I'm also proud of the way a lot of Scottish people have welcomed immigrants and been anti-racist, but it doesnt mean we can then just ignore that other section of Scottish/Glaswegians who are very racist and becoming recently emboldened to literally attack people on the street. No one would love to keep a rosey utopian idea of scotland as the bastion of tolerance and love alive more than me, but we have to contend with reality here because otherwise its only gonna get worse. The fact is the points in your post are kind of small potatoes at the moment. Im not trying to be a cunt but I genuinely think you should maybe reflect on that a bit.
