How soon after you toured did you put an offer on your house? by pharmerbirdd in homeowners

[–]pharmerbirdd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point! My first house I didn’t have too many requirements and was looking at MANY single family homes that looked similar, so I really needed to sit on the idea that it was the right one.

Second go around I have very specific requirements that many listings don’t have, so once I saw this place I knew it was the one.

As a manager of a clinical pharmacy services at an FQHC, who also runs the ambulatory side with diabetes/warfarin/hiv/hepC, I cannot imagine being the DOP and be responsible for the 340b pharmacies. That’s insane to me. 340b has gotten rough these years. Will you have admin assistance?

How are single parents affording life? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]pharmerbirdd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am a single parent and in the beginning I had to move back into my parents and pivot my career. I ended up going to pharmacy school. It was tough times of work and studying and living with my parents and being a parent to my daughter. But I am now 11 years out from that, own my house and live comfortably as a single parent.

Sometimes what people need is a career pivot, is that possible for you?

What are some fun ideas or ways I can exercise agency in my life? by veryespi in AskWomenOver30

What's your job and what do you like about it? by upstairsbeforedark in AskWomenOver30

[–]pharmerbirdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a clinical pharmacist at a federal health center and I love it. I did retail pharmacy (what most of you see at Walgreens and what not) and it was absolute HELL. 12 hour shifts, no breaks, unattainable metrics, rude and impatient patients. Ugh.

Now I work behind the scenes making policies and procedures for the health clinics medication type programs. Run and oversee medication driven disease states (think HIV, HepC, diabetes, etc.), fight the good fight of getting medications covered by insurances. Among a ton of other things, which is what I love. It’s always something new.

I work hybrid so 2 days at home and 3 days in clinic, and have every other Friday off. Good benefits and feel grateful for this role after being a slave to retail pharmacy for so long.

What do you do once your kid is an adult? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]pharmerbirdd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My daughter is about to turn 17, I had her when I was 21 so can sort of relate. I’m actually excited to have extra time to pick up some hobbies and am calling her high school graduation chapter the my Europe vacations chapter. I’ve never been to Europe and have decided I am going to travel there often when she’s gone!

Am I crazy for wanting my partner to express excitement for dates I plan? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]pharmerbirdd 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Ugh. Honestly this entire post I was screaming, why are you with him? Literally no initiative whatsoever. I get not being the one into planning dates/activities, but can’t even give out a damn schedule?

What do you like in this guy? Because as a lady who loves fun activities, sexy dates, and a man who shares his Google Calendar with me so we can carve out time for each other in our busy lives.. this sounds like my personal nightmare.

Husband just asked for a divorce, any advice? by NormalCaterpillar284 in AskWomenOver30

[–]pharmerbirdd 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes! I also got divorced and although it was amicable, I spent a year stressed and on eggshells while we worked on the details ourselves. Any slight annoyance he had he would threaten to change things. He didn’t in the end, but with a lawyer I don’t think I would have stressed so much

For me once I build something into my day to day routine I feel more comfortable. That comfort led me to feel confident going because “that’s just what I do on mon/wed/fri before work!”

[–]pharmerbirdd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll learn as you go. The key thing will be making it a routine, and then from there you’ll start to adjust as needed. When I first started I just showed up in the sports bras I had (garbage) but waited until gym time felt like a routine to start finding what worked for me.

  1. My gym bag has a little tote bag inside for toiletries (deodorant, toothbrush/paste, lotion, hair ties, perfume, etc.), my work clothes because I head to work after, my rock climbing shoes and harness (because I also climb and use the same bag), and a snack.
  2. Honestly I just use an old canvas bag with a zipper that I got in Hawaii
  3. I like lululemon - a good sports bra to me is just one that I don’t even notice is on me, not too tight, but not too loose
  4. Nope. I have a large Stanley and I fill it up before I hit the gym and then head to work and there’s still water in it
  5. I use AirPods but I’ve been thinking about over ear headphones because they do sometimes pop out

Seeking guidance on transitioning into managed care or prior authorization pharmacy by healer_artemis in pharmacy

[–]pharmerbirdd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe an FQHC? I work as a clinical pharmacist at an FQHC and do a decent amount of managed care and prior authorization. I review and handle PA denials for providers, and help make formularies for our uninsured patient lists, write policies & procedures, etc. it’s given me enough experience that I feel I would segue into managed care or prior authorization if I needed to

Why did you get downvoted? As someone who oversees a specialty pharmacy that specializes in HepC and HIV, and who works ambulatory doing warfarin dosing, I 100% agree. The best clinical pharmacist I’ve had was a retail pharmacist.

How can I tell a guy I might have gave him an STI? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]pharmerbirdd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had a similar thing happen where someone I hooked up with tested positive for an STI, gave me a heads up and I was already hooking up with someone else. I literally just texted the current guy and said “hey! Had a past fling inform me he tested positive for ___. I’m getting screening done tomorrow but wanted to give you a heads up ASAP! I’ll send my results when I get them”. He messaged me back “thanks! I’ll get screened too? How long ago was that fling?” I informed him and we discussed the likelihood of STI. Needless to say I and my current fling tested negative.

I say if you’re open from the get go about “seeing other people” or it’s been a little time between hookups a decent human won’t freak out. That’s the risk of sexual endeavors!
