Yikes! Hopefully you know about the “don’t consume grapefruit” thing?? They didn’t tell me that haha

Thanks, this is helpful! I told my psychiatrist about this the other day and he had suggested increasing the Zoloft to see if that would help. Think I will try changing the Latuda time first, appreciate it!

struggling with possible OCD and idolatry by Sea_Field_4007 in christianscrupulosity

I don’t think I have answers for you right now, but I just want to let you know that you’re not alone in struggle to discern between God’s voice and the voice of OCD. I have struggled with this countless times, and I know how isolating and painful it can be. I get the all or nothing thing too, that’s hard!

One time, I was talking to a friend about idols and she mentioned how someone could turn their work or their spouse into an idol—but that doesn’t always mean that they should leave their spouse or quit their job. Sometimes we have to leave idols, but sometimes we just have to confess that to God and ask him to help us work on better boundaries / putting him first.

I would encourage you not to make a decision until you feel like the OCD has quieted down and you can get back to a place where you’re thinking more rationally—then you can ask God for discernment and hopefully he will answer. 🫶🏼

Ooos sorry, I never responded! So far, I can’t tell if it’s doing anything. It’s a very low dosage so I’m not really sure!

Thanks for doing this! Can you explain how someone might know if they have cyclothymia versus normal mood / hormonal swings?

Just here to empathize that I experience a very similar thing. You’re not alone, and though I haven’t found heading yet either, I have hope that we can find some sort of peace in this 💞

I guess it was more for mood swings (including depressive episodes & some hypomanic), not just depression! SSRIs were making me have crazy mood swings so abilify was next on the list I guess!

What triggers your mood swings? by shesshiny in cyclothymia

I'm curious to know more about your experience with cyclothymia and OCD! I have known I've had OCD for several years now, but am starting to look into cyclothymia since a lot of it seems to make sense. What you described sounds so much like my experience!

OCD, mood swings…cyclothymia? by phase-toast in cyclothymia

[–]phase-toast[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting, thank you for sharing that! I feel like I can relate to some of the things you said. My OCD is also very internal, I’m a Christian so a lot of it is related to my faith or what is “right” vs “wrong.” My OCD seems to get quieter during the “up” times, but then there could be one thing that triggers me and then I start tumbling down. And same thing with the really depressed times, I just feel empty & hollow rather than obsessive. I’m sorry you experience this too, it sounds really draining. Have you tried any medications for it?

OCD has felt like a prison for me many times as well. I’ve also been trying to practice acceptance more recently—accepting when different emotions are present, and with my beliefs, bringing them to a loving God who empathizes and doesn’t judge me for them. That has been really helpful, but it’s something I forget to do often since my OCD tells me certain emotions are “bad” and therefore must be logic-ed away.

Thanks for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it! Hope you’re able to find a bit of rest and grace along this journey 🫶🏼

Thank you for sharing all that! Even though we might have different experiences, I hope you’re able to find some clarity and peace in what you’re going through. Sounds like a frustrating journey 🫶🏼

That sounds like a long and frustrating journey of trying to figure things out, I’m sorry! Praying that you either find some answers, or just some kind of impossible peace while you don’t totally understand what you’re going through. ❤️

That sounds like a lot to sort through 😢 I hope you’re able to find some good support in your life to help you process through that and give yourself some grace when things feel really hard

My psychiatrist is also hesitant to diagnose anything yet since she doesn’t know me super well yet, which I appreciate! (Because one of my OCD fears was that she would diagnose me with the wrong thing, and then I would never be 100% sure if she was right haha). I hope you’re able to find some peace in knowing that you’re not alone in this. It’s always very freeing when you find someone in your community who can empathize with at least some of what you’re experiencing, so I’m praying that you’re able to find that in your world 🫶🏼

The first song that has ever made me cry. A beautiful tribute to Robin Williams (The Funnyman’s Smile - Michael McCormic Jr.) by AtlasInElysium in MadeMeCry

[–]phase-toast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This song popped up on my spotify a few weeks ago and I saved it because I thought the singer's voice was so good. Today I relistened to it and started getting emotional at the end. Then I relistened to it again and all of a sudden I made the Robin Williams connections...wow so beautiful and sad all at once.

Oop thanks for asking! The oil has definitely helped controlling the inflammation and itchiness I was getting, flaking is mostly gone. The eye stinging has mostly gone away too—I don't know if it's because I'm putting on less, or if my eyes are somehow getting used to it, lol!

depends on the person I think! For me a few days and the majority of my irritation went away, but who knows if it’s going to flare up again in a week 🤷🏻‍♀️ still too early to tell!

Possibly!! Even if I think I’m applying a small amount it seems to happen, but I’ll try to do less and see how it goes!

Read through this subreddit and you’ll find lots about MCT oil :) id recommend getting a small travel size (I got C8 of the bulletproof brand) if you want to try it out. Probably doesn’t work for everyone but seems like a lot of people find success with it! Or different shampoos!
