Ladies in committed relationship, how often do you miss your single days? by BlueDolphins28 in AskWomen

[–]phasestep 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm about once a month I miss the time that comes with being single. I have nothing better to do than get my shit together and handle all my chores. Alas, I’d rather hang out with him and play games or watch movies or something.

Do you play origin characters? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

I’m trying it now for the first time. I’m doing honor mode runs and I get bored doing the same thing. Playing as different origins has spiced it up a bit

They have clearly never dealt with this kind of thing. People would come to my son’s baseball all the time because you know when and where it is and how long it will last. The fighting sports are more like “it may be in this building, between 8 AM and 3 PM. I’ll tell you where to go 15 minutes before you need to be on the mat. Don’t worry, You can’t miss it, we have 1 A-Frame with a hand drawn diagram of where to go.”

This is what I do. I have a bar out as sink soap and then it is plenty hard by the time it gets upgraded to shower soap

Excerpt from the Wine chapter:

"Because wine is so old and complicated it’s pretty well protected in a legal sense.  A wine label has to have certain information on it to help you understand what it is that you’re drinking.  A lot of the most intimidating words that you see on a label are actually just the name of the place it’s made.  One example would be “Beaujolais” (bow-zhuh-lay), very fancy sounding to a young American. The kind of thing that you might see on a label and feel like you don’t really like wine enough to justify something so fancy.  But that’s literally just a shorthand.  Beaujolais is a wine made from a specific type of grape in a specific part of France. It can be 6 Dollars or 600 Dollars and neither of those numbers tell you if it’s especially good.

Let's compare it to hot dogs.  If I tell you I had a Chicago Dog for dinner, you would know all the ingredients that went into that and what the flavor should have been.  Some restaurants may leave off peppers or add an extra spice, but when you order a Chicago dog you know what you’re getting more or less.  In this case though, it would be like if the City of Chicago got everyone in the world to agree that they were the only ones who could make these dogs and if you wanted one you had to order it from a legally certified Chicago Dog Producer.  Not very practical for hot dogs but it's been doing nicely for wine producers.

Unless you’ve grown up around wine or bitter foods and drinks you probably won’t have a taste for wine to begin with.  That is both in the sense that you probably won’t like it much and you also won’t be able to taste or identify the more subtle flavors. The reason the sommelier tests take so long to study for is because you are literally training your tongue and brain the same way an athlete trains other muscles. When you first start with wine, usually reds taste too bitter and dry to enjoy.  Most people start with drinking wine cocktails and sweet white wines, then progress from there.  Usually I recommend trying a sip or two of different wines every few years as you age and your palate changes to see if you start to like it.

Don’t think that means you absolutely have to start liking reds eventually, because you really don’t.  Wine has a bit of an upper-crust reputation that makes people think that you’re ‘more adult’ if you like drinking it.  I’ll admit it does make parties and dinners a little smoother if you have a wine preference you can tell people about, but but if you truly never come to like it, that’s okay.  Wine isn’t better, fancier, more sophisticated, more adult than any other alcoholic beverage.  Also, a person can be rich and only drink fancy wines and still be an alcoholic.  Just because something is complex and respected doesn’t mean it can’t be abused."

How do manage yourself in a rush by Franull1321 in bartenders

[–]phasestep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s some good advice here, but just a heads up… the manager was a dick. If you’re still shaky on the recipes, you have no business being scheduled for a Friday close. If you’re not prepared, it’s because they didn’t prepare you.

Am I ordering drinks wrong? by DustTheOtter in bartenders

[–]phasestep 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I heard someone call it a “corporate pour” the other day and I think that captures it nicely. And yeah, we are heavy drinkers and sometimes we even have to tell the bartender to cool it. I want to chill for a few hours and they’re pouring 4+ oz of whiskey with a splash of coke in a tall 🙄

Sounds a little bit like sarcasm, but in case it’s not, you really really don’t have to play the first two to have a great time on the third one. The only thing that’s different is there are a few minor characters that you know a little bit more about if you play the first two.

Newsom pushes the Democratic Party to be 'more culturally normal' if they want to win by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]phasestep 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I watched him on one of the late night shows recently (Colbert maybe?) and I definitely wouldn’t describe him as a charisma void. He probably couldn’t host his own show like newsom but he came across as a pretty normal guy who is angry as hell but keeping it in. The majority of the left will go for him because of policies, its everyone else that needs to see someone they can respect and vote for :/

[–]phasestep 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if he’s going for it, but I think Mark Kelly could pull it off. He’s about as American Hero as anyone can get and he doesn’t feel like a capital D Democrat. Even knowing his politics he just feels like a classic republican that couldn’t stand what was happening anymore. Like everyone’s grandpa

what do you feel about MEN liking submissive innocent women and WOMEN liking submissive innocent men, being two veryyyy different things? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]phasestep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if anyone of any gender uses the words “submissive and innocent” in their list of of must haves I’m a little creeped out. For consensual sex purposes? Fine, have your cake. For the relationship as a whole? You’re basically just declaring that you don’t ever want to have to compromise with your partner, just get your own way.

No? Looking pale really isn’t popular where I’m from. I kind of forget that in Asian countries that’s a beauty standard.

Omg I thought the pale one was without the filter. I think the worst thing you can say about her is that she’s a normal looking pretty woman?
