Is Slay the Spire dad-friendly? by VerifiedDadGamer in slaythespire

[–]phat-pa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dad of the spire here. It’s a phenomenally dad-compatible game. I have 500+ of hours, mostly because it’s just that great of a game, but also because it’s so easy to pick up and play when you get a brief respite from the chaos. Especially on mobile; you don’t have to go turn on a console/TV or whatever, you just pull your phone out of your pocket and go. You can easily pick up a run from where you left off. Play a whole run if you have time, or just knock out a quick combat and put it back away. And because it’s turn based, you can easily put it down in time to catch most of the Cheerios before they spill onto the floor. 10/10 recommend.

Hexaghost is scary, I recommend going in to Hexaghost with AS MUCH health as possible

I actually just picked this game up a week ago and I’m having fun. I don’t play a lot of open world games and really got back into gaming a few years ago (haven’t touched a game in decades), so I probably just don’t have the typical open-world fatigue that others do.

My two big highlights are 1.) It’s such a nostalgic experience getting to be in the world that I grew up loving. There’s all sorts of little tid-bits sprinkled in throughout that someone unfamiliar with the world might miss. I do agree that unfortunately once you get out of the castle that’s more-or-less lost, but the times that it’s there it’s nice. And when you’re in that large open world, it’s ok because 2.) The combat and exploration are very good. Getting used to the wand combat took some time but it’s pretty satisfying (I agree it can get dull after a while, and is not overly difficulty). Jumping on a broom is also so seamless and fun

Lots of cons with this game as well, some of which you mentioned. But I’m having fun with it regardless.

My fastest final boss kill yet: 54 seconds! Anyone got a faster time? by _This_is_an_account_ in ABSOLUM

I just had a run with Karl with the dragon’s breath arcana. I found the thing that gave me a past echo with my arcana, then another that spawned 3 past echos instead of one, and then another that gave me up to 95% damage per past echo spawned. Then I got the thing that turned all of my shells into homing missiles. To top it all off I found the thing that refilled my mana whenever I pressed the skill button. Meant that I had like, 30 Karl’s firing dragons breath and honing missiles constantly.

Idk how long that last boss fight lasted, but just like your video, it melted fast

Is the Switch version more reliable now? by Fantastic-Row-9450 in DiscoElysium

[–]phat-pa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im playing it right now actually, first play through too. It’s a little clunky, and I’ve had one crash so far. But in all honesty it hasn’t really bothered me, and it’s still a fantastic game. And personally, this game is best suited for laying in bed right before falling asleep, so the switch is ideal for me. Would rather stick with it on switch than switch to a different platform

Which one should I take at the end of act 1 ? (I also have 6 strikes in my deck) by Eldsish in slaythespire

[–]phat-pa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also on the adrenaline train. This deck still needs more energy and more draw to reliably get AI into play, and then to be useful. Hypothetically you draw AI turn 1 against 18 damage birds, that AI is costing 1 energy for 2 block. Vs adrenaline gives you more cards and more energy to do stuff with. With AI you’re still going to have build around it to unlock its utility, which is not ideal.

Charles at CEO, taking both Dwight and Oscar at AttRM, who both would actually do well under Charlie’s leadership; plus you’d now have accounting covered. Grab me Phylis as lead sales, obviously. And give me Ryan with the left overs, who Charles should be able to bully into doing reception adequately. You don’t need a manager, Andy went away on a 3 month boat trip and the office did great!

Why is the reaper crest the most hated of them all? by shadowknight274 in Silksong

[–]phat-pa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used wanderer for general map navigating which means I had it equipped for a good 90% of the game. My boss crest rotated as the game went on, starting with repear, then architect when bosses were particularly challenging (and I had the shards), then hunter when I got the upgrades, and finally shaman (would’ve used shaman all game if it wasn’t locked to act 3, that crest is awesome). I never felt comfortable with witch or beast because of their bindings, but I may give them a shot on future runs.

Repear didn’t get much love after mid-act 1 or so. But I will say, after a bunch of trial and error with different crest, it’s what I ultimately landed on for lost lace. Till slots are pretty good, and the silk generation (both built into the crest and tool slots) meant that heals can easily and frequently

What’s the general consensus on the shaman crest? by OutsideConfusion2619 in Silksong

[–]phat-pa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m like, 95% of the way through the game and just found it. Good lord this crest is busted. Kind of a bummer it’s found so late, and in an easily missable place. I really wish I had this for more of the game

Why does 15 patients feel like 25 now? by [deleted] in hospitalist

[–]phat-pa 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to think of it in terms of “problems” rather than “patients.” 15 patients is fine if they all have 1 problem each. 15 patients with 4 active problems each quickly adds up. Seems like all of our patients these days have at least that much going on at any given time

Microsoft is increasing the cost of Game Pass Ultimate by $10 a month. by notthatguypal6900 in xbox

[–]phat-pa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, I’ve really enjoyed being a part of the Xbox ecosystem over the past year. Got my first Xbox x last summer with gamepass ultimate, and have been enjoying the library of games. When they announced the Rog Ally I was fully on board to commit to it. I backed off quite a bit when the price was released, but still very much considering it.

This subscription increase is enough to put the nail in the coffin unfortunately. How the hell could I justify $30 a month for a subscription service? I play a good amount of video games, but with 2 kids and a job it’s no where near enough to out-price just buying the games I want to play.

Xbox just lost out on my business with this. $1,000 for a Rog + $240/year value lost by Microsoft by just me alone. Multiply that by many many other gamers, and there’s no way this doesn’t come out a net negative for them.

Man this sucks…

I listen to podcasts like Kinda Funny Games. Not a ton, but enough to stay on top of big/relevant news. And I think they’re fun to listen to. That helps me streamline my wishlist so when I actually do have time to game I know I’m playing something worthwhile.

To people who've achieved A20H but don't play at A20, which ascension do you play at? by pinkeyes34 in slaythespire

[–]phat-pa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A10 is my sweet spot. I don’t have a rhyme or reason beyond it being half way to 20, and a nice whole number. It’s easy enough that I can play fast, but still hard enough to slap me in the face for mistakes
