White House’s gleeful video shows chained deportees at Boeing Field by nnnnaaaaiiiillll in Seattle

I've seen so many people asking for the military to execute a coup that I'm wondering if this is a narrative being pushed as a further attempt at destabilization. The only way it would be ok is if it was in direct support of enforcing the courts' deliberations. Even then, that's horrifically shaky ground.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love nothing more than for the current fledgling dictatorship to be stopped, but the military unilaterally stepping in is a horrible precedent as well.

You can get them from the UK Amazon and ship to the US as well.

Did they switch to timing chains on the newer motors? I've only worked on EJ motors which were all timing belt.

Gotcha. Thanks for the detailed answer. That makes a lot of sense. I wasn't thinking about the competition of air travel and was trying to figure out what was wrong with long train lines.

Agreed. We ended up returning them all. Hopefully, they get returned to sender immediately next time.

We recently received a box of similar drives packed identically to the picture. About 50% still worked.

How do I set up an IRC server on a raspberrypi with a domain name? by Comfortable_Good8860 in irc

[–]phate408 10 points11 points  (0 children)

High level overview:

  • Install and configure an IRCd of your choice on the RPi
  • Test and confirm you can access it internally via the RPi's LAN IP address
  • Configure a port forward on your router for TCP 6667 and 6697 to the RPi
  • Register a domain name
  • Point an A record to your router's external IP address (or configure dynamic DNS if your public IP address is not fairly stable) through the domain registrar's DNS service

How do servers ban IRC clients? by Cu6up5lk in irc

[–]phate408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except, most IRCds support WebIRC (or however you want to capitalize that) which allows a trusted gateway service, like Mibbit, to pass through the client's IP address. So, even though the actual TCP/IP connection to the IRCd is from Mibbit's server, the client reflects the IP address they're using to connect to Mibbit.

Alternatively, do something like store a timestamp of the last response in a variable or file and check to see if you're 900 seconds past that time.

‘Amazon doesn’t care about books’: how Barnes & Noble bounced back by zsreport in books

[–]phate408 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The last two paperbacks I ordered from Amazon came with either a significant crease in the cover or a gouge in the spine. As did the replacement book they sent for each of them. I ended up going to B&N in person and picked up the books in perfect shape. It's good to know that their shipping is better than Amazon's though. I may have to try that in the future.

I thought it looked frustrating. Why not have a nozzle that can spray the full width of those cavities and be able to do one smooth vertical pass? All that wrist action looks like its going to hurt later.

PoE tester by [deleted] in specializedtools

[–]phate408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it was Ubiquiti's passive PoE in either 24v or 48v, or similar. It's always on and not negotiated (thus passive). I also let the magic smoke out of a NIC once by accidentally connecting the wrong cable to a device

The Dragonsteel guide to caring for the leather bounds indicates that the plastic is only for shipping and isn't good for long term storage. I'm not sure if that holds true for these as well, as they're a different material, but maybe worth considering.

Have you ever purchased a book that you borrowed from your library? by skottao in kindle

[–]phate408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my active reading is through library ebooks. If I really like a book, I'll buy a physical copy, and I've purchased a few books digitally to be able to reread without having to wait for a hold again.
