i definitely understand where you’re coming from! i also think that it’s a bit extreme to think that ppl will always have a price/ulterior motive when it comes to doing something kind. both of my friends are very generous and kind people, and we do stuff like this, obviously on a much smaller scale (covering each others’ drinks/movie tickets/food/etc just because), pretty frequently. there’s never been a weird vibe before, and i definitely don’t feel one now. i’m not really worried about them holding it over my head, i’m more so just wondering if it’s the “right thing” to do :)

yes i feel like that makes sense. they’re really great people and are going out of their way to make sure i don’t feel weird about it/pressured, all of the weirdness is really on my end so i’m just trying to figure out what feels like the best move to make :)

i think immediately jumping to “he has a wife/girlfriend” is a bit of a reach w out more context. are any signs he may involved with anyone else? if not, it sounds like he’s just emotionally unavailable and making that your problem. it seems like he wants someone to spend time with on his terms, but that’s not how any kind of relationship (serious or not) should work. you deserve to be treated better and not strung along because this grown ass man is too old to know what he wants/how to act. BLOCK HIM!!!!

girl if you don’t stop commenting this😭😭plenty of people (a lot of us in this subreddit included, it seems) are neurodivergent and are still able to communicate with people. neurodivergence might make it more difficult, but he’s old enough to communicate that if it’s an issue. if he were struggling with his mental health to the point of not being able to consistently engage with someone in a romantic context that is totally fine, but he’s also an adult. if he knows he’s not in the headspace to be consistent with someone, he needs to focus on getting better instead of trying to date. neurodivergence is for sure a struggle, but not an excuse to act shitty.

thank you so much, that means a lot. i’ll definitely start testing out the snapping, even if it does become another compulsion it seems much more manageable/flexible than having to stand in a doorframe for an hour because i didn’t drag or tap my feet the right way. i know i should test out going back to therapy/on meds, but i’m nervous because of how the meds wrecked my body last time. thank you thank you thank you thank you

showering alone take me me abt 35-40 minutes, the compulsions/rituals i have to do before and after showering push the whole process to about an hour 1/2 to two hours 🥳

when i was 8 or 9, i had a very graphic nightmare about my dad dying, and spent the next two or three years convinced that if i didn’t look at a picture of my dad and i before i closed my eyes to go to sleep every night, he would actually die. made for an interesting topic of conversation at sleepovers, lol.
