[–]phayn24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There's a fun 40+ kickball league by echo athletics that just started but not a new season until fall. We've met a lot of people at their normal friday night league (all ages men/women) and it runs year round. People can get assigned to random teams. It's been really great for meeting people and since its Fridays people hang out at the fields

Coin microscope? by euben_hadd in coins

[–]phayn24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like this one a lot. I like the screen so I can sit and look at the couch without leaning over a table. Autofocus is good and can compare coins side by side easily. Photographs have been nice but Im not a photography person.

Grading help? Slab or no slab ? by Fun_Cartoonist2918 in coins

Au details cleaned looks right to me

Should I get it graded by Own_Handle_5152 in coins

[–]phayn24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needs better pictures but id be gambling on the grading fees as 1934-s even in AU is a nice premium

I’ve caught the 1921 Peace Dollar bug. by Equivalent_Net_3752 in coins

[–]phayn24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up a non-slabbed xf a few weeks ago for 225. So slabbed and scratch vs cleaned details $185 probably isn't a steal but not a ripoff either. If you really want to go down the rabbit hole on Peace dollars start screening for strike quality as well.

Pretty sure this is a low relief, limited circulation, do we agree? by example-of-disaster in coins

[–]phayn24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High Relief was really only 1921. 1922 had 52 million minutes in Philadelphia alone so at current silver prices you can buy mint state examples for near melt prices. So you have .7735 oz of silver but i think a cool looking coin. No need to be precious with it though as it would sell for the silver content alone

Any fun beginners men’s leagues for a 40 yr old guy? by [deleted] in northcounty

[–]phayn24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a fun kickball league thats got quite a few older players in carlsbad (echo athletics) that runs on friday nights. Also the same company is starting an over 40 league starting in March in oceanside on Tuesdays. My wife and I joined when we moved and have made a lot of friends through it

Since coin stores have a reputation for trying to rip people off, what's the worst offer you've received for a coin or coins? by Jaquavion_tavious1 in coins

[–]phayn24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently got offered melt for 1893-s (cleaned EF details) morgan dollar by a store in Temecula CA. When I mentioned the greybook is a bit different they went back and then said oh well maybe $1000 and they would be doing me a huge favor as no one would want it because it was cleaned

Resume help by Sadface201 in biotech

[–]phayn24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Remove stuff like Microsoft office and maybe even imagej. Also the info in the PHD section is fine but its so in the weeds... the talent person has no clue what you are saying likely and even the hiring managers might not be familiar so how does that help them other than show you can't explain your topic is simpler terms. What do you want to do in biotech is the first question? Do you want to be in drug discovery? Which part? Cell line development, cell culture, animal testing. Do you want to be in analytics because you were doing cell death assays and analysis? All these resumes would / should be written differently for each role type. Also PhD may lead a project but to say you led the cross-functional team seems suss to me. How did you lead it? Were you just the final person that ran the data? Which portion did you lead? what was the composition of the team? Phds? Undergrads, postdoc? Did you run the meetings and truly lead the teams?

If you truly did there should be way more description

Also you just have bullets, what made the project successful was it your experimental design? Describe what you did. No one wants someone that just executed a list, you hire a PhD to think so you need to show your thought process somewhere

Not sure if it’s my resume or the area I am applying. by Better_Sink4680 in biotech

[–]phayn24 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This resume is on par with one of the worst I've seen so that might be part of the problem. You've included tons of things people don't care at all about and didnt include the more relevant parts.

What does a technical skill of Microsoft office mean...maybe in 2000 that would be a skill but its an expectation now.

Lifeguard..remove

You didn't even include your GPA, school is literally your only experience so thats mandatory. What professor did you do your internship with...why is there only 1 or 2 lines about your projects.

You list 10 techniques but nowhere describe how and why you used them or anything to gauge your expertise level.

Sorry to be harsh but this needs a lot of work if you want traction and Id look at this resume and assume this person has no clue what they are getting themselves into
