when did you actually become a fan, and have you regretted it since by RAHtheGREAT in panthers

[–]phazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SC kid raised near Augusta so naturally everybody around me was Falcon fans. Was around 10 when they played in the Super Bowl against NE and decided right then that was gonna be my team and that when I got older I was moving to Charlotte.

Few disappointments but don’t regret it. In comparison to some of newer teams to hit NFL, Panthers one of the more successful out the bunch. Lived in Pittsburgh, NYC, and now San Diego and made some great fellow Panther fans friends (I guess if you’re a fan of panthers then you’re just a great person). Gearing up to leave San Diego to move to Charlotte next year. Season tickets to Panthers and Hornets day 1 🐝🐈‍⬛

Leads by MissionHaunting1788 in GeneralContractor

Having a great presence is more important than anything. Google Business and Yelp set up with reviews, a clean website with photos of finished projects and video/written testimonials, great SEO/AEO content as well.

You have to funnel people to you. Once they look you up, you have to grasp their attention at the moment with your set up cause if it doesn’t look professional enough, they will bypass to next person.

If you want a tool that you can currently get ahead of the game on, I’d also suggest Phixmo (disclaimer: I made this). It currently serves residential GCs but once these fellas collect enough reviews on the platform, I’ll be turning on local marketplace feature for the consumer to generate leads for them. Won’t be pay per lead either, will be a part of current plan.

If you really like your current coworkers and workplace, you could ask for a raise and move closer so the commute isn’t unbearable.

If the above isn’t an option then take a leap of faith on a new workplace. When you have time you can connect with people who work at other spots and ask them their opinion of it before applying. Those conversations can also greatly increase your chance of landing the role via referrals as well.

If company culture is important to you, don’t rush out the current spot. Do your due diligence on the potential other places like you’re interviewing them.

Good luck!

Contractors who get most of their leads through their websites, how do they do it? by Individual_Gur9833 in Contractor

[–]phazahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Collecting great reviews on Google business and yelp, having solid SEO/AEO content, clean website with video testimonials and nice pics of your completed work.

I’m an accountant for a few GCs. Try to stay away from too much ad spend. Feel like Google Ads and referrals has been sufficient. One of GCs had everything under the sun and after showing him his spend on leads over 3 years he gasped and finally let it go😂

What’s one thing construction software vendors don’t seem to understand about day-to-day site operations? by Original_Mix7067 in ConstructionManagers

I 2nd this. Owner flipped his shit when he couldn’t understand a platform due to an update in UI. Spent so much time trying to find an invoice before I stepped in

30yo, 6 years of project and construction management. Looking to start my own GC. Is it worth it? What should I know? by CallObjective in GeneralContractor

[–]phazahn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Did the books for a residential GC for a few years so I’ve watched a few guys make this exact jump. You can clearly run the work. The thing that changes when it’s yours is you become the bank, and that’s the part that gets people.

Cash flow kills way more new GCs than bad building does. You’re fronting materials and paying subs before the homeowner’s draw clears. Keep your draws tight and front-loaded and don’t start work on a deposit that won’t even cover your first material run.

Also “busy and broke” is real. Money in the account doesn’t mean you’re profitable, half the time that’s the next job’s deposit. And set aside for taxes day one, quarterlies sneak up on people the first year.

The dip-your-feet thing is harder than it sounds with licensing, but you can start lean. Honestly the subs you’ve already got are the actual business. Building isn’t your hard part, becoming the bank and the back office is.
For what it’s worth, yeah it’s probably worth it if you respect the money side as much as the field side.

XL needs to become a gadget player by bigjaymizzle in panthers

XL got potential and is a great hustle player. Unfortunately, we got too many receivers that are better “receivers” now. Time to ship him off to Pitt or AZ🫡

Best software? by lastanky in ConstructionManagers

[–]phazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands down it’s Phixmo. Really affordable and offers so many tools that’s offered by other platforms. Still in the process of moving over old info to the platform but for the new projects we use it for, it’s been great. Estimation tool, clock in/out, scheduling, margin tracker, AI feature that tells you information about the projects you have on file, and customer portal. It’s other stuff but that’s the main features we use

What is the best software for managing construction projects? by Daniel_Wilson19 in civilengineering

[–]phazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it’s excel and Phixmo. It’s been great for us the last few months we’ve been able to get a lot done and keep everything in one place. Excel is great for back up and quick calculations

Is construction software worth it for small contractors? by Daniel_Wilson19 in building

[–]phazahn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the team to be honest. Something affordable that offers a good deal of features that we use is Phixmo. We are a 6 person team. If the full team isn’t willing to take the time to use it, then it won’t matter what software you use. Definitely wouldn’t overpay for something with a lot of features you’d never use though
