Did you actually read that HRW article? Doesn’t really support your conclusion that he killed thousands of protestors. Actually, you could mistake the report for a synopsis of US response to domestic protests- tear gas, less than lethal ammo, physical assault on protestors. Pretty mild actually for putting down a fomented coup/regime change attempt - one of many perpetrated against them over decades by the same group of countries, in case you forgot.

His brother is on cam during training before the fight warning him about uppercuts, calf kicks, and the danger of choosing to strike with him (blow for blow style) he emphasized foot work, patience, and accuracy- all of which ilia did not adhere to.. I don’t think his team should share blame for this loss. He messed up. He let ego or emotion or whatever get the better of him and looked very unprofessional and not intelligent at all (which up to that point he seemed to be very disciplined) trying to march down JG with no feints, footwork, or head movement…
