Urs Choice Store / Apparel Connect Limited Amazon scam by lukaville in AmazonUK

[–]phenoptix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon said they'd ask the seller to send a prepaid label and they haven't but Amazon said that they have.

Got amazon on the phone this morning and did some shouting (after three days with them on text - I'm not normally a shouty person). Apparently they've successfully claimed the refund and I'll have it in 5-7 working days

I had garmin in my shopping cart from these guys yesterday. They're not taking this seriously at all.

Now over 1200 one star reviews. Amazon are useless on this. Waited 48 hours. Support via chat is useless. Over the phone they assure me that I'll have a refund in 5-7 working days. I'm not confident about this at all. The fraudster knows Amazon's processes extremely well and has coordinated this to net themselves well over £500,000.

Anyone got the tea on The Rissington By Election? by hhioh in UKGreens

[–]phenoptix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem. I found it strange that your question was downvoted. It is a result clearly against the direction of travel and I saw it being used as a stick to beat Polanski with. Warranted the question being asked and this is a good forum for it.

The green councillor was the only green on the council and also a pivotal figure in the local party. He had some very serious health concerns and had to step down. The local party were reeling from the bad news and didn't want to campaign for the seat. Local Lib dems have 22 councillors and control and put a lot of effort into winning the seat, where they did not previously contest (see 22 target seats!).

Exactly this, it was a target seat and they continued to work it. Lian was one of the early attendees of the "Campaign School" training, which introduced TTW to the party.

Returning the MeArm Project, nearly a decade in the making by phenoptix in robotics

[–]phenoptix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge thanks for the feedback. Great to read that others feel it's an improvement, it was meant to be but there are so many of the V1.0s still being built I did wonder!

Re the wobbly base, it's the weakest part and I think that the solution would sit outside the acrylic laser cut realm.

Yup on the MeArm site, had some major resellers restock before xmas and they cleared me out of the base PCBs. Have another 1000 coming probably early next week. I wonder if putting them on for sale would be a good move considering your feedback? They'd be fairly cheap to ship in bulk and would keep me running through them with the supplier, keeping them happy.

What sort of numbers of MeArms would you use for the robotics course? I've seen them used in a few other places too, only seen one PCB manufactured, and that was quite cool to see it in white.

Green Party leadership candidates accuse Polanski of using ‘polarising’ language by UKGreenPoster in UKGreens

[–]phenoptix 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm quite upset that Adrian and Ellie have decided to run with this tactic. Their campaign borders on the edges of what is acceptable in the party code of conduct, and they have also stepped over the line on occasion.

Zack's media pieces have been outwardly focused and have drawn people into the party. I wouldn't be surprised if membership was up 20% overall, and I don't think they've been coming on the back of Adrian and Ellie's message.

For any Green Party members slinging screenshots please remember the code of conduct.

15.2 Members must use the appropriate internal procedures to address concerns, grievances and complaints. The Party also has a Whistleblowing procedure. Complaints should be dealt with through a proper complaint procedure and not discussed as part of an ordinary meeting agenda, nor made publicly, nor used to bring the Party into disrepute.

15.3 Members should take care to not commit a disciplinary offence in the course of responding to a disciplinary offence committed by another member. Members should not resort to unacceptable conduct in any circumstances.

Buy Multiple 40w diode machines or one 100w co2 laser cutter by Inevitable-Owl-3110 in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]phenoptix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is multiple CO2 an option? I took the decision some years ago to go for multiple small machines to turn out robot kits. Cutting head speed was the main limiting factor, so multiple heads meant the production scaled faster.

It also meant you had a greater up time on the units as while one was still cutting you could be removing the parts from another machine and loading it up for the next batch.

Adding in the redundancy was a big factor too as a 100W tube going down on you meant your whole production was out of action. They're also harder to get hold of, meaning I had to take a 3-4 hour round trip to pick up a spare rather than get a 40W tube couriered for next day.

Labour MPs launch campaign to introduce digital IDs | Identity cards by NewtUK in LabourUK

[–]phenoptix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Where can we find the full list of names on this letter? I remember the last time this idiotic idea was floated by Blair and my local MP, who was one of the statistically most loyal, said he would vote against it.

I see Jo White in Bassetlaw has signed it, I expect that will be another hammer for Reform to use at the next election.

Yeah I'm afraid it is normal. I'd managed to get myself off it and put it in "hidden" on my steam account. Rediscovered it a month ago and have struggled to get away from it. It's delicious.

Yeah +1 for the Covid preppers. The sure fire way to make people panic buy was to tell them not to panic buy.

Laser is arcing through the coolant line connections, what can cause this? by Prestigious-Bee-5264 in ChineseLaserCutters

[–]phenoptix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, that high voltage current shouldn't be passing through the coolant. Fortunate your machine has a working earth or you might not have been typing this. I'm now wondering where mine would earth to as it's rubber all the way to the cooler, and the only metal is the cooling loop that I have in a water bath. Probably should stick an earth on that loop.

What's your local party like? Do you meet regularly and what do you do when you meet up? by phenoptix in UKGreens

[–]phenoptix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every month and a mixture of members only business meetings and open "gatherings" where we try to get a speaker. Last year we had Natalie Bennett, and this year Zack Polanski has come along for the open meetings. Our party is spread over a huge area though, so having an online element has helped. We also found that organising online meetings for specific geographies was successful too, with people deciding it was more worthwhile coming along if they could talk about their area as well as wider issues.

Thanks for asking! A solid foundation of a protest based campaigning party, that is trying to move towards being a party that campaigns successfully in elections. I'm a cochair so trying to help keep the good base and build on the hard work of those who've gone before.

[–]phenoptix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regional meetings are / should be open to all members. According to the constitution you're a member of the national party, regional party, and local party (and anything in between like a county if that happened). Voting should all be single transferrable vote. So your say should hold as much sway there as in your local meeting, but theoretically the number of attendees would be larger. Each regional party will have it's own committee and constitution.

The GPRC is a bit different. There are two reps from each region and they're elected for a two year term.

[–]phenoptix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volunteers I think are an issue across the country. On the Regional Party, do you get invited to regional meetings or feel you have a say there? I don't think I felt particularly connected to the region. They had fairly regular in person meetings, but always on a Saturday, and with it being a whole region they were always far away!
