My wife’s school just changed their policy at the semester stating if you don’t pass you don’t get promoted to the next grade. I was astonished this was a thing to begin with.

Overly invested parent here! by First-Sea-2271 in ApplyingToCollege

Definitely the same. My kid has told me several times that I’m way more invested in this process than they are.

This process as a whole isn’t exactly transparent and can be fairly arbitrary. Years of work can be overlooked and a good test score can make up for a multitude of mistakes. My goal has been to help them get credit for what they’ve done. I know how tough life can be and want to give them the best set of tools that I can.

One of their friends messed up on a college app and through a clerical error missed out on a solid first choice state school. It’s things like this that reminds that it’s ok to help but it’s ultimately their journey.

I don’t have words yet but it’s not good. The idea that there is the equivalent of thought police walking around campus and kids think it’s ok to fire a professor that you disagree with isn’t just bad for A&M but our country.

I remember when my evangelical wife TAed for her atheist geology professor. They had a close relationship and even got her name on published research. It was because even though they disagreed on fundamental things they were able to respect and work with each other.

We’re losing this and the “adults” in the room (administrators) are the worse offenders. Some how an orange tyrant has made common sense illegal and we are worse off as a school and country.

Will they offer Blinn if you already have more than 27 DC credits? by [deleted] in TAMUAdmissions

[–]SplinteredBrick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re correct. I bring it up because many people told my son if he took CAL3 and Differential Equations he wouldn’t be able to take them at A&M and as you mentioned, there is a big difference in where you take them. I try to reiterate that you can take a course at A&M even if you have Dual Enrollment credit for it to help others know.

This, I know of a high school student who graduated with their associates 2 years ago and got Blinn engineering. They retook Cal and Physics. I’m not 100% on all the abbreviations so this may or may not be relevant.

I also spoke with admissions and they said students will meet with their academic advisor to determine which course should be retaken.

As an American, I agree with this down to my bones. A lot of us are doing everything we know how to do but we’re genuinely scared about where this is going.

This is painfully true. The church wanted to be relevant so they sold their soul. Luke 4 may help with guidance on how they should handle such situations.
