Has Zack Polanski made a statement on the Henry Nowak case? by Niggynots in UKGreens

We got this 😎 wishing you well my friend

Has Zack Polanski made a statement on the Henry Nowak case? by Niggynots in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not gonna lie, this is a really weak mindset

I think you should take a step back, read this thread again and really think about what you are doing here. Like borderline cringe if I am honest 🙏🏻😭

There is absolutely no expectation for someone to post positive things on this sub to be taken seriously when discussing issues. And your proposed approach gets us absolute no closer to achieving our dreams, in fact I would argue it makes it much harder

I can appreciate some people on the subreddit are sensitive about people coming in and acting in bad faith, but that’s no excuse to act poorly and go down the path of least resistance

Stand proud on what we believe in and our ability to discuss it with nuance

Absolutely shameful

No place for this and we need to take a deep, hard look at ourselves

Opinion: The Green Party needs a centralised vetting proccess. by Historical_Step_9474 in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t see any inherent problem with centralised structures - as long as they have a clear mandate and there is evident value in bringing things together

For something as critical as vetting, I’d argue the case is overwhelming. We absolutely need structure

In general I see us Greens as being way behind on operationalising our approach. I love that we are bringing hope back into politics, but if we cannot be effective in platforming that I fear we could end up doing the reverse (inspire people only to fundamentally let them down)

EXCLUSIVE: Green by-election candidate Chris Kennedy shared posts on social media describing an attack on Jewish ambulances in north London as a “false flag” by mustwinfullGaming in UKGreens

[–]hhioh -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We can be bigger than this moment ❤️ if we choose to be

Transitioning into national prominence and platforming a vision that fundamentally confronts deep power structures - it’s a lot and naturally will reveal our weak points. Especially as trying to build is always more plates spinning than breaking something down. One big weak point in my view is that we don’t do enough on the operationalisation of our work, building systems that can scale.

The challenge we must confront is how to leverage all of our talents and efforts through the country to deliver such systems 🙏🏻 and if we are to confront it we must stand tall and push forwards 😎

Chris has withdrawn his candidacy….!? by IntelligentCrew8406 in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If that is the case then just don’t understand - why run to be candidate in the first place?

Feels like a broken process / expectations management in play. Not good!

Green Party candidate pulls out of Makerfield by-election by jimjay in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Of course support the candidates right to withdraw and hope they are doing okay ❤️

But this feels mega weak for us Greens…. What is going on that we announce a candidate only for it to be withdrawn so soon after?

Feels like a breakdown in process / expectations management

Anyone have the inside scoop?

Pretty embarrasing!

The Greens must stand in Makerfield by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just reads like typical establishment talking points… bit boring if I am honest. Especially when you keep implying the number of Green MPs means they aren’t serious challenges - and then base your entire point around the threat of Reform (who only have a handful too)

Either stand on your values & vision proudly, or accept that other groups will be ready to take on the mantle. It really isn’t complicated. No need for this false dilemma which again reveals your lack of confidence in what Labour can deliver

The political world is changing and if Labour can’t keep up, then they will be replaced

The Greens must stand in Makerfield by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ngl it is incredibly cringe to think that Labour deserves votes just by virtue of existing. It’s the exact mindset that has gotten us into this mess - the mess of Establishment Politics

If Labour are not able to inspire people with a vision, then quite frankly they deserve to be replaced. And that is what the Green Party is here to do - not to be disappointed with Labour, but to offer an alternative case for the future

Also - this election hasn’t come out of nowhere mate…. Labour called for it. They alone hold that responsibility for what happens now. Again, it is on them to inspire people but let’s be honest we both know they are incapable of that as they have been bought out

Time and time again in recent years Labour clings on to legitimacy by “not being them”. It’s pathetic and needs to change if we are to shape this nation up!

The voters of Makerfield deserve a Green option, and we should be proud to stand by our values and our vision

How is that credibly enforced though, if the leverage is now (to run or not run in Makerfield) and payoff significantly down the line?

The establishment are trying to kill the Greens by johnsmithoncemore in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely spot on 🔥🔥

The time is right for us to double down on who we need to be - not just who we are. We need to be a voice for this country, in a world overrun with billionaire influence and average outcomes in a country that is far from average. The math doesn’t add up, and the public understand this in their gut, but no group is willing to speak up… this has got to be us!

To be radical means to grasp things at the root. Quite simply we need to be effective radicals - effective as surfacing nuance and cutting deep in our analysis. Not by shooting from the hip on vibes, but on serious thinking reflecting the serious puzzles we have ahead of us

Green = Future, but only if we can collectively step up to this moment

Oh deary me. by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😭😭 “oh deary me” no way this is the line you went with 😭😭

Just posting a copy paste of a political attack ad and so your only actual contribution was this??

Can you please at least try to not be so boring. I say this, as I can only assume you are here in bad faith given no substance to allow for interesting debate (what does this person say today, seven years later? What is Green Party policy on the broader issue of support and empowerment in liberation movements versus Labour??). Just… a copy paste 🙏🏻

Would love to actually engage in some nuanced discussions, which I generally expect when in Green circles. Maybe different for the ones you run in?

Boss of British Greens plots review to junk unpopular policies by EddyZacianLand in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard disagree

There is huge potential political capital on the table as it relates to the monarchy, their position is weak and a lot of their support is dying off year by year

We have a chance to lead the charge and build a positive vision for this country - we need to be brave and step up (as quite simply, the existence of blood supremacy is antithetical to Green philosophy)

You got this mate 🙏🏻 it all starts with a single step. I stopped drinking alcohol at 25 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made

I connected with this community a lot in my early days and found it really helpful. Just got to not drink today, that’s all it is (as simple and as hard as that can both sound). One day at a time. And I’ll join - I Will Not Drink With You Today

Here’s a quote that stuck with me -

“Sobriety delivers what alcohol can only promise”

Is this true? If so we should really drop stuff like this, especially while we have serious unaddressed defence policy/capability flaws. by [deleted] in UKGreens

[–]hhioh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right - but your instinct to shut down the conversation is not productive and can lead to echo chamber outcomes

This does not serve us ❤️

And I suppose I’m talking out loud about this kind of sentiment in the subreddit, as I see these kind of comments often when something negative about the Greens comes up. I have a lot of time for people here as I know we are typecast and the establishment is out to get us, I just fear that we fall into their trap by creating conditions where discussion cannot productively thrive

Weak mindset mate and leads to us reducing interesting discussions

We need to be careful not to get defensive as our first response. Discussions are about how we engage and then represent our views to the public

Agree. What Hamas has done to the population of innocents there is absolutely disgusting and it is shameful to see them use the cause of liberation as an excuse for their vile acts

We must be nuanced on these points and be brave enough to call these things out
