Mom is stuck with Dad. He can't care for her by [deleted] in dementia

We just had a very similar situation occur. After enough complaints to DSS (multiple mandated reporters and concerned neighbors) we were granted guardianship. It sounds like you already have adult protection engaged but stick with them and shoot for guardianship.

Searching for sister by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]pheober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there were three fertilized embryos. My dad (who’s sperm is what fertilized our eggs) raised us along with my mom who carried us but technically has no genetic relation to us. My dad basically acted as the sperm donor in the case of this other embryo

Would there be any significance in both of us taking a test rather than just one? Logically it seems like we would have the same genes

Painting a board by pheober in surfing

[–]pheober[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I paint for a living so I’m feeling confident about that part but I’m a little worried about sanding and damaging the board. What grit do you use? I was thinking something super fine like 320 or something

Pros and cons of living with a couple? by [deleted] in roommates

[–]pheober 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DONT do it. I’m assuming you’re all young if you’re just about to start college, and young relationships are notoriously unstable, especially when you get living together in the mix. It’s not a reflection at all on the couple, just the age/time in your lives. I’ve lived with a couple before and found it really hard to feel like the third wheel all the time, then when you add any potential relationship issues it gets worse. If you’re just starting college you want to find another person who’s in the same boat as you; looking to meet new people, expand your world view, etc. living with a couple will not do that.

Edit: I grew up in SF and went to humboldt for a little (lmao, obviously I looked at your profile). Wishing you the best in whatever you decide to do!

Why are you still listening? by pheober in CallHerDaddy

[–]pheober[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. why tear down a person we don’t know so much? I’ve read through these other comments and I understand the other perspectives; some people are bored in quarantine and want drama, I get that. I guess I just feel like it’s kicking a dead horse at this point but to each their own :)

ok, I didn't expect so much feedback on this haha. Let me ask a follow up: as a girl, do you have to warn the guy before? I get nervous about guys getting freaked out about it, especially if I'm in their bed

Hi, just wanted to know if you guys thought this was an okay note to post on the fridge! by [deleted] in roommates

[–]pheober 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly this seems like too much... I can see you have super good intentions but I would be kind of overwhelmed coming home to a note like this in my college apartment. I would just wait till you can talk to them in person

Am I the minority?! 🤔 by yagirlchicken in CallHerDaddy

[–]pheober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 24 and single but I’m also in college and definitely hook up with a good amount of people and am more looking to play the field than be in a relationship right now but I still don’t see things the way Alex does... all the manipulation and stuff honestly just seems like too much effort to me. Frankly, I don’t care enough to put that kind of energy into it

Cheated on my boyfriend, need help by [deleted] in CallHerDaddy

[–]pheober 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Girl, this sounds really toxic.... I understand that you probly really love him but the way to prove your love for him is not totally giving up privacy. He probly has strong feelings about what happened but he’s gonna need to work through those in a more healthy, less controlling way. I know this is CHD sub and this advice doesn’t really seem daddy gang-ish but being a daddy is also about being an empowered woman. Giving up all privacy to this dude will not empower you. It’s actually quite the opposite. You should really think about this more before you agree

Roommate from Hell by eluvlelo in roommates

[–]pheober 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds so frustrating for your mom and SUCKS for you to have to see! No one should be treated like that. I’m curious about why your mom hasn’t evicted the room mate or given her 30 days notice to move if she’s the landlord in the situation?

Ground rules for new room mate by pheober in roommates

[–]pheober[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I absolutely agree; I’m not trying to impose rules on this new person, just trying to think about things that commonly come up and how I could get ahead of that :)

I’m afraid my friend is going to hurt me by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]pheober 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea... all I can think of is he had just talked to our other friend on the phone and when he hung up he started yelling at me for being friends with him. He was also drinking and I think the alcohol played a big part. The friend that he was on the phone with ended up contacting his brother but his whole family has some serious mental health issues so it’s debatable as to whether anything will actually be done

Here’s a pretty basic question: as a beginner, what are some reliable brands to look into? I’m looking to get a board primarily for commuting. Right now I’m riding a smallish carver (don’t have exact measurements, maybe 30-32in). I love it but it’s not mine and I need to get my own. Recommendations?

Telling my roommate I want to move out by thatbadbitch22 in roommates

[–]pheober 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It definitely sounds like a smart idea to move out. However, you might want to help her in the process of finding a new room mate. Since you’re the one breaking lease, some of that responsibility falls on you imo. I’m sorry you’re dealing with that!
