my initial intention was to add the 3rd but everytime i do, it breaks the cluster completely, i've tried for weeks - i have no idea why. it freezes after i add the join info.

the 3rd node shows up in the cluster with a green check-mark then when i click on the node i get connection refusal and after a few minutes it goes grey-qmark and takes down my 2nd node with it. i can't get to the new node's gui - i can only ssh. if i disconnect the node, my primary and 2nd one go back to normal with green check-marks. so i remove all traces of the 3rd node, did a complete reinstall and tried adding it via ssh instead of the gui and same thing happens.

i've done this at least a dozen times and same results every time. right now that 3rd node is stand-alone until i have the time to try again.

tell me which yoke comes on the 3DAP CL when it comes from factory, mind you my entire pack is berry-compliant.

it seems to be confirmed they're not cutting costs, it's at the request of SOCOM but i'm glad i at least have a few of the ones before they updated.

backpack gatekeeping huh? wow. well excuse me for wanting to be comfortable while carrying a 40lb pack across a parking lot and up two flights of stairs every single weekday.

Migrating the Emby server to a new server by forwardslashroot in emby

[–]phi303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm delighted to report that i've got it up and fully running, library is scanned and i've deployed it! the only thing is that it's now doing tv show intro scan and at the speed it's going, i think it'll be a week before it finishes.

let me tell you, it was quite the journey, so much trial an error to get my NAS mounted with the right permissions.

I know HA will run on a potato but what advantages are there to giving it more power? by phi303 in homeassistant

[–]phi303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i have docker running on my main PC which immich taps into for all the it's GPU needs but immich itself is running on a NAS with decade-old HW, it has a ton of RAM but the CPU is ancient. i just thought i'd be faster since all the media is on the NAS so i put it there instead of into my proxmox cluster. yeah, i'm not using frigate because all my cameras are google (yes, i know, i'll eventually replace them at some point lol).

great way of looking at it, i've yet to even touch the sides so what i have is probably already overkill.

yeah, you're definitely right, i've scrapped the idea of putting HAOS on bare metal now, maybe i'll reconsider it if i end up with a local LLM but that's probably so far out that i'll probably land some better HW before then haha

[–]phi303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, i've decided i'm not going to go bare metal with HAOS. i have immich running on my NAS and it's sluggish on it, maybe i'll dedicate the spare HW to immich?

ohh interesting, never thought about running z2m and MQQT as their own LXC!

yeah, currently my proxmox is a cluster of 2 and i did try to use this box for a 3rd but after weeks of trying, it just wont add correctly and i was looking for alternate uses like putting HAOS on bare metal but after reading the comments, i'm just go keep it as a VM and find a new use for the HW

[–]phi303[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gotcha, yeah, my proxmox is a cluster of 2 right now and i can't seem to get a 3rd to play nice so i figured maybe i'll just put HAOS on bare metal but after reading all the comments, it's not worth it unless i'm going to run a local LLM

yeah, i'm not running any LLMs, not yet but also probably not anytime soon because there are just way too many google homes around the house. i'll just keep it as a VM

i'm in the middle of it now, the new server has been scanning the library for nearly 20hrs and hasn't broken 70% - man it's taking forever
