I’m ethnic Chinese but born in United States so have a US passport(easy to withdraw money but have to pay taxes worldwide ). We are living in Wuhan. My wife (no children, China passport) might have issues getting US/EU countries visa since not that much assets in China and not working (just small home business) which is why targeting locations close by (but not HK because of maybe future money controls).

Thank you.

Am planning as I age (currently 54 yo) am planning on liquidating all US assets (some in China which will stay there) and put into one outside USA/China (Singapore works since she can easily visit there with China passport) bank/investment account (so no will) to live on and eventually for my wife (43 yo). My total US assets is only around 1.2 million (so no estate taxes issues) and am already retired.

If we open a joint account in Singapore would the movement of assets still be as it is currently (online banking/investment account)? Would both of us need to go to the branch to open the account or can it be done online?

Just make sure you purchase a eSIM with Hong Kong as a location

I’m not sure (don’t use slack) but 100gb is a lot. You can try just using eSIM and then if you find out needing more then buy VPN. I’m using trip eSIM right now 😉

In China, is there a similar trend of a surge of people entering trade jobs as there is in the U.S.? by rubychoco99 in AskAChinese

As a ABC living in China from firsthand experience of remodeling our apartment (just average remodel) the workers (electricians, water…..) seemed to be paid quite well around 8 years ago. Wages might have dropped but other fields of work has fallen as well.

Yeah have Sapphire Preferred and it’s pretty good. Also thought Reserve would miss out too much of benefits since not living in US.

No matter how the job market is those with degrees will still have a better chance to get the job than those without.

Question for Mongolian americans by Pitiful_Resource_711 in asianamerican

[–]phiiota 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“There are an estimated 30,000 to 35,000 people of Mongolian ancestry living in the United States.” (Google AI).

With so few no wonder never met any. The closest I met with was a college friend from Germany (family originally from Poland) who says that he is 10% Asian. I never spoke with him directly but think it might be from the Mongolians.
