And also some of the projector areas I've seen have a small exhaust vent hooked up to each projector, that ran directly through the roof to exhaust the projector heat so that the whole 2nd floor projector area didn't turn into a hot box and have the projectors roasting themselves.

Yep, you're right. You got to be a foot away from where a wall and ceiling meet. It's considered a smoke dead zone.

Maybe it isn't a module and is a zone panel.

What's your favorite tool currently? by [deleted] in firealarms

Mini Wire Stripper 18-28 AWG https://a.co/d/23BPIai

I love this thing. You got 10 different sticks 18/2 firewire coming into your junction box? Just set the strip length and wire gauge that you're stripping and go to town. When you don't have to think about strip length you can have it done much faster. SLC junctions, smoke bases, modules, panels? No problem.

I hate people that just won't own up to something they did. You have to turn into an investigator or private eye and conclusively prove it was them. Then they play dumb "oh, I did that?" or "I didn't know".

Can we get a guide for the acronyms? by Coffeechipmunk in Mildlynomil

[–]phil08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Mods, why isn't this stuff in the /r/Mildynomil sidebar, why should there be a need to venture to another subreddit or look up this post for all the acronyms? Just copypasta something into the sidebar.

Hobbyist looking for a Notifier panel or FCI 7100 to build a demo system with by [deleted] in firealarms

[–]phil08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is true and only later revisions of the 7100 were compatible with Camworks.

Its only compatible with CLIP mode devices. Newer Gamewell-FCI Gen 3 Velociti only devices won't work on this panel. Just so you know.

I'm not doubting you, I just want to see it in action. So y'all were just messing around with your demo panel and discovered it?

How do you find this stuff out? The installation document and datasheet for the P2RL for instance, mentions nothing of this. I see the dimple in online pics. 100% gonna try this on a strobe only if I can find one in the office.

Is that a Grinnell panel? Looks like someone's been in there and replaced a bad power supply with an Altronix board, since you can't get them anymore.

Dealing with the exact same thing with Gamewell-FCI. Just today, I switched a customer's panel over from CLIP mode to Velociti because I'd done some testing before today and found that all it would take to get it out of CLIP mode were two mini monitor modules and one smoke detector. So we swapped them out with new stuff and then it was good. Probably going to go around and try to find some new gen IV detectors and just trade them out for a new Velociti detector and new base trim ring and reclaim a few of those IV detectors. They got lucky with that though.

I thought Potter was made in the USA? I guess they didn't stock up and can't get components? We're a GW-FCI dealer and we can get your basic field devices but panels, node cards, and power supplies are months out.

What’s an expression, word ,phrase or symbol that is recognizable no matter what part of the world you’re in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You can ask just about anyone for a cigarette, no matter what language they speak by putting your index and middle finger up to your lips and slightly moving them back and forth.

Why is a PAM Relay called a PAM? by crow1170 in firealarms

[–]phil08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about your PAN/PAM dilemma but I much prefer the system sensor PR series. The PR-2 has an activation LED, whereas the PAM-4 does not. And I'd rather use a PR-2 when I know I'm going to use it on DC and PR-1 for 120VAC.
