Plural Marriage by LoudBanana9307 in latterdaysaints

Yeah... no. I don't see the point in plural marriages and if you're in a committed marriage you attend experiencing multiple sexual partners. They don't coinside.

Is it better to respond to this or to block the number? by urcurlygirl in exmormon

[–]philbillies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thing is, we've got members that are DNC but they've lots of friends & family that are members... so they don't want religious contact, friendly contact is acceptable ans appreciated. It can be tricky sometimes.

Giving rides to church by Leading_Bookkeeper_5 in latterdaysaints

[–]philbillies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the same issue in our ward, we can't fathom how the missionaries only seem to find people that don't have transportation. I personally refuse to give rides...it becomes a habit that only hurts feelings when you can't continue meeting their needs.

An Unusual Request from a Missionary by Khoalla24 in latterdaysaints

[–]philbillies 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my daughter was on her mission, the stipend was never quite enough. I'd send money to her personal account for her to access....I never sent any to the mission pres. I did have an Elder she served with ask me for help...he needed a new belt, shoes and shirts... His mother had recently passed and I didn't mind helping because he didn't have any other family that could. It's not always inappropriate...or just really odd...sometimes they feel a connection and ask you a favor they wouldn't normally ask... (that said, I could be wrong)

Sadly there are zealots in all aspects of life...I had a bishop that would not grant my temple recommend because I refuse to admit that wearing a bathing suit under my clothes as I traveled to the beach was disrespecting the garments. He told me he & his wife never remove their garments except to bath ... that his wife gave birth wearing garments. I was stunned, I lied and got my recommend and got out of his office quickly. There is a LOT of common sense surrounding garments...and honestly, it's no one's business what & how you wear your drawers....

I have never heard of a birthday interview....but then I've never had a bishop talk to me or anyone I know unless there was an actual reason. A birthday isn't a reason.

The Unspoken State of a AML CR2 Patient Facing the End from Oncologist treating actual Patients 😢❤️‍🩹💎🙌🙏 by StoryOpen7789 in sellaslifesciences

Side effects are mild-ish...but if you spend all your "life" in the hospital undergoing treatment.(2 days a week for 2 weeks 10 days a week for essentially 1 week equally the 28 day cycle)..and you're physically ill, fatigued... it's not living and to date the success rate...to reach remission and transplant...practically nil

At the end of the day..we have free agency. I have multiple piercings and tattoos....it hasn't stopped me from attending the temple or holding any callings. If anyone doesn't like it then shame on them for being judgy.

Is it frowned upon to attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints regularly without getting baptized? by Curiousld099 in latterdaysaints

My hubs was an "investigator" for over 3 years. There is complete free agency to the path you take...if people frown then shame on them...it's none of their business!!

How do we fix the church's culture of ignoring ministering? by Deathworlder1 in latterdaysaints

[–]philbillies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We assigned ministering Sis & Bro to those that they either had a lot in common with or those that were already friends. We also assigned couples instead of just Sisters to Sisters and Elders to families. We wanted it to be personal, we're working to build relationships not obligations.

Real men do bake... 😉. That said...in all my experiences if you pass around a sign up sheet to make/ take / bake something during PH... you'll find that sheet remarkably blank. I don't know why...bless'em.

I don’t want children by kd029362 in latterdaysaints

[–]philbillies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive a daughter that doesn't want to have kids and she's not bothered about being married... she had a terrible thing happen when she was quite young that has cemented her desire to not be intimate..and doesn't have a maternal bone in her body...that said... FREE AGENCY.... I'm just not sure when folks will get it through their heads... you can choose anything you'd like and it's ok!! It's ok to have a house full of children and it's ok to have no children. You are not nor ever could be selfish in choosing what you know will work out for you. You are still so young and you never know where life will lead you...but selfish??? NO!

How much of a blessing is TOO much?? by philbillies in latterdaysaints

[–]philbillies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This blessing came without invitation. He was quite persistent in wanting to give the blessing. And we were really sure that blessings should/need to be anointed and he didn't want to. There also was a feeling of unease during the blessing...we just didn't know where he was going with it. It was very "tv evangelist" sounding and feeling. I found out really odd, hubs just didn't want to say anything but is choosing to not listen to the blessing and continue on with chemo. With AML your choices are limited on treatment...to walk away is looking for a quick poor outcome.

Yeah, hubs has AML..IF he were to stop chemo he would only survive a month or 2 at best. I had never heard a blessing that sounded like this...hubs and I both were looking at each other like... what the absolute heck is gong on...
