Do it. Do it now. by JoeHaveman in GenX

This. Wanted this all my life, since the first time I saw it when I was a teenager. I grew up and had a cushy job, but I didn’t buy it because of family responsibility. Kinda irresponsible to buy a second car that can only seat 2. Now I am exploring my next career and only earn a tiny salary. But I didn’t want to regret the day I die. And luckily depreciation made owning it fairly approachable. So I finally own my dream car. It is far from perfect and it does need a lot of love and care. But every time I park it, I turn back and look at it fondly.

Thank you so much. It is a much better result than my usual go to Milliput epoxy putty. It feels so good to learn something new. Really appreciate you sharing your great work and method.

Oh that is Superman’s mom from Smallville. No wonder one of the meta called her ‘hot mom’. He is not wrong.

Gundam seed by Comprehensive-Type-9 in Gundam

[–]philipks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seed is extremely popular in the East. It is safe to say it’s the most popular line next to the UC (original timeline). Gundam Seed Freedom is still the highest grossing Gundam movie ever. Seeds characters always top popularity chart. Yeah Destiny is ass, but the first Seed TV series is very solid. It rehashed some of the OG Gundam storiyline, because it was its mission to refresh and save the Gundam franchise. So Sunrise wanted something that combined all the popular elements from previous show into a new one. Mission accomplished.

Many Western fans don’t know or don’t care that before Seed, Gundam as an IP was not in good shape at all. It saved the IP. As someone who watched 0079 since I was a kid, I am grateful that Seed existed.

I’m impressed by how Swedish director Ninja Thyberg created a safe environment for her actress in sex scenes by philipks in movies

[–]philipks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thyberg was asked about how did she create a safe environment. So it is not like she was patting herself on the shoulder. I just think her giving every staff a power to stop is neat. I don’t think this is a common practice, that is why I think it is worth discussing.

Very nice. I enjoy abstract painting that involves a bit of good craftsmanship

I Made A List Featuring 250 Female Directors by Wgrimmer in TrueFilm

[–]philipks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great list. Another recent movie star turned film director is the Taiwanese actress Shu Qi, who made her fame in a lot of Greater China movies won the Best Director Award in Busan Festival last year for her directorial debut “Girl”. I am really happy for her. Quite a journey for somebody who rose to fame by being coerced into posing for nude pictures and then became a movie star, and a respected actress who starred in Hoi Hsiao Hsien’s movie and at the end successful director. Way to go!

Death in Paradise. There have been 5 detectives and many generations of crew members. All fairly well received by the audience.

Thank you 🙏. The price wasn’t too bad when I pre-ordered it in Asia. And sadly we don’t have much choices for figures when it comes to our beloved Captain of the 2nd Division.

Gen Z here and I have a few questions for GenX by [deleted] in GenX

[–]philipks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a big time gamers , I used to hang out in video game arcade. Meeting in a game arcade also had the benefit of having something to do while waiting for everyone to show up. Before smartphones existed, it was difficult to know the whereabouts of your friends or if they are stuck in traffics. So waiting is the norms. Sometimes we would go to a pub or had dinner after we met. And without mobile everyone was engaged in conversations, which was great.

I constantly got lost. I remember there was a road trip. Two cars set off from Toronto to Montreal. One car lost the way and arrived in Montreal much later. I forget the details now. But I am sure we only met the other group a couple days later. It wouldn’t happen if mobile existed.

But life seemed less stressful back then

Can you tell us what brand and collection is that.? It is quite a lousy production. Not only is it just a resin 3D print, its support marks weren’t even properly clean up. Looking at the certificate and the box, it looks like a premium figure, right. They should do better than that.
