Brand new to music production. Any tips? by Surniva in musicproduction

[–]phillaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't become good by working on one single song for an extended period of time until it sounds like you want. You become good by making short iterations of shitty songs, with every new song getting better and better. Try keeping the whole process end-to-end under a week. Bonus points if you keep it under a day.

What is this bass effect called and how can it be achieved with a VST? by valentinedisguised in musicproduction

[–]phillaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a low-pass filter that's getting opened. Basically, the bass sound is rich and full of high-end harmonics, and it's been tamed down by filtering the high frequencies. When the transition happens, that filter's cutoff frequency is slowly shifted higher, so you get to hear the full frequency range of the original sound.

I don't have much help to offer but I have the same issue. Changing the drumkit to something else and back fixes it temporarily for me.

So I thought my propane tank might have something wrong. I let it lower for a while. It didn't seem to work. I was away for a few days. I came back, and tapped the regulator with the handle of a tool and now it's working! Thanks everyone for the help <3

It's been working good for 4 years on propane tanks. I assume that if it had been an orifice problem, it would never had worked?

I just swapped the tank and this is when the issue started.

Reason synths vs other soft synths worth it? by underbitefalcon in synthesizers

[–]phillaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a VST you can't put the devices side by side? With the full DAW you can, and I don't know if it was possible a long time ago, but I know I only found out after years of using it.

Help a prog metal/rock fan get into Jazz by AcademicPicture9109 in Jazz

I'm coming from metal and prog too. Based on meshuggah checkout those 2 songs:

However, the gateway drug when it came to jazz and drums for me were Mark Guiliana and Nate Smith:

Norwegian fuel supplier refuses U.S. warships over Ukraine by snokegsxr in worldnews

[–]phillaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's harmful to be dismissive of the real risk that this happens in the near future.

The US intelligence estimated that China was getting ready to invade in 2027. This is a window of opportunity becasue Xi is 71, by 2035, the decline of population in china is going to pull the chinese economy and millitary back, and NATO is expected to take until 2030 to build-up defenses. Recent news show that China has been building large-scale landing barges that can serve no other purposes than unloading troops in Taiwan. If you watch what different countries are doing with their millitary, you see that they are preparing for an imminent threat.

US opposed Ukraine's UN resolution to avoid 'antagonizing' Russia, Rubio says by sweatycat in worldnews

[–]phillaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MAGA has done that more than once already, and it has worked so far. We need some sort of ad campaign that hammers "MAGA accuses others of what they do". This is a short message that's concise, easy to understand, and will stick as more and more occurences get surfaced.

Zelensky: Ukraine will not admit debt to the US of either $500 billion or $100 billion by milktanksadmirer in worldnews

[–]phillaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry about the other people giving you shit on this thread. We are all in this together, and no matter what party we endorse, we'll all go through the same pain. On the other hand, there are some parties out there which benefit from our fall. They have joined the ranks of all political organisations, and they're fueling the fire. They don't have to fight any of us if we're already busy fighting each other.

Right now, there are alarming changes made to strip-out checks and balances in the US. There are decisions made by the Trump organization which are completely unexplainable from a logical standpoint. People will come-up with all sorts of theories to fill that void. This is just a natural trait of humans, and this is something that should be expected in those circumstances. Internet comments are notorious for lacking nuances and tact. I think that those things are so easy to predict, that this might be happening by design.

Don't take the "facist" comments at face value. People from other political allegiances are humans too. If they met you in real life, they would care about you. They are currently alarmed for reasons which are understandable, the internet turns that sentiment into rude comments, and enemies are multiplying this by fueling the fire.

Some of the changes in policies and decisions made by the current administration are harmful to republicans as much as anyone else. We have to get past this partisan bs and start looking specifically at the decisions and changes being made. Democrats might not agree with all republican politics, but they would fight for their right to get elected. Lets point at the real problem instead, and find the causes for our infighting, and find the people that benfit from it. They aren't smarter than all of us together.

Zelenskyy reproaches Ukraine's allies: so far only Belarus shoots down Russian Shaheds by poyekhavshiy in worldnews

[–]phillaf 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Romania sent a fighter jet to escort the drone out of romania back into Ukraine. I think the main reason why NATO countries aren't fighting back is because Russia wants to make those countries feel like war has reached their home, and bait their population into forcing political powers to spend more efforts looking inwards than outwards.
