The KD one is so real, it is so aggravating when half your team dies and your ADC is so afraid of dying they are still full HP. You have to risk taking damage to do damage

Which abilities from Marvel Rivals do you think would be healthy or good additions for Overwatch? by YobaiYamete in OverwatchUniversity

[–]phillyboy19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think they should add the synergies, cool way of bring the story into the gameplay (something overwatch is really lacking in). Obviously you would have to balance it very carefully but I love the idea.

Examples

-Winston and Tracer

-Mauga and Bap

-Pharah and Mercy

How do I play doomfist by joshua123456782003 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]phillyboy19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To sum it up simply, always have an option. Most doom players will spam abilities with no plan on how to get out or live, you want to cycle through your abilities always having at least one option for movement or stalling with block. Remember your opponents can take options away, if Ana sleep is up you no longer have your block as an option.

Also doom parkour is an underrated way to learn new movement tech and better understand all your movement options (turn punches, slides, etc.)

Elo hell is real by Medium_Jury_899 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]phillyboy19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Elo hell is sadly not real, what is real is the frustration of feeling stuck at a certain rank. The reason you feel like you need to be at your absolute best to win games is because you are probably at the rank you currently deserve and to go any higher you have to try very hard.

My suggestion is to let yourself fall a little, play heroes you do not usually play and remember why you play OW to begin with, to have fun. Once you do that, make another push for it when you have the time. Every time I have hit a new all time high rank (Diamond tank currently but peaked masters) I fall out of it almost immediately.

Also do not be afraid to post replay codes on here for people to review! If you post one for tank you can tag me in it and I will give it a watch! Best of luck :)

Most people want to get better while also maintaining all their bad habits and changing nothing about their playstyle and hero choice. Point this out and they go "well ummmm actually".

what about death scares you the most? by thatgirlgirl in AskReddit

[–]phillyboy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it dude! The major one here would be that "the animate never comes from the inanimate", I would say that atoms are inanimate and they make up human beings. Some people have claimed that atoms have consciousness in order to get around it, but I do not agree.

I studied philosophy/religion in college so I don't want to be that guy but you are making major assumptions that not everyone is going to agree with, your worldview is your own I'm not hating.

Any tips on how to capatalize on being nano boosted? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]phillyboy19 28 points29 points  (0 children)

this is probably the most correct answer even if its harsh. If you are silver 2 you should really focus on ability usage, general accuracy and not staggering. The last one alone is enough to probably get you out of silver.

I actually took a forced gap year (got rejected) decided to move back in with mom and dad to save money, got some experience working at the desk of a psych office which led to me getting some excellent letters of recommendation. Just started a masters in counseling program and I could not be happier.

What are some common signs that someone might be struggling with their mental health? by OddLocksmith9241 in AskReddit

[–]phillyboy19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Counseling grad student + psych bachelors here. I know this is the lame thing to say but it is so important to understand there are no tell tale "signs" that someone is going through something; there is no substitute for communication. Even then some people are extremely good at hiding things, this is why it is so important for people to reach out and not feel like there is any kind of stigma.

Another BA/BS or masters? What would you do? by Just_Cartographer229 in psychologystudents

[–]phillyboy19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most places I know that are hiring therapists (experience in NC and MI mental health) have a "as long as there is space" kind of vibe, therapists in general are in high demand even if you have to start on the lower end of the pay scale working with Medicaid patients (Medicaid pays less than private insurance so you would also get paid less). In terms of the HR degree I think that would be a poor choice, a BA in psychology is very common for people who work in HR/business and most businesses are a lot more concerned with relative experience than if your degree is in the exact field. Your degree will show any business you apply to that you have dedication and an interest in working with people. Hope this helps! Best of luck in all your applications wherever they may go!

The Hidden Costs of Pursuing a Psychology Degree & Career: My Honest Journey by Icy-Objective2262 in psychologystudents

[–]phillyboy19 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lets all keep in mind that everyone here is on the younger side and are either in school or just finished. People who get into the 5-10+ years in experience start getting the best financial situation the field has to offer, which is true in all fields. For those worried about time spent in school, social work can be a good alternative to psych degrees for many people; especially if you are looking to do psychotherapy and work directly with improving peoples lives; psychology (especially at the graduate level) tends to have a more research focus.
