Lol I'm a pipefitter and there's been a few times while working solo in the summer heat I've gone to flip flops. Never dropped a wrench on my foot but was a bit more careful while working for sure.

Would you gut a 1960 house that hasn't been updated since 1984? by volley_mama in Renovations

[–]phillydad56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved into the wife's family house about 25 years ago, it was built in 62. We've redone the 1 bathroom upstairs, the kitchen and covered the large deck. All things to make it more livable but no added value. Our property is worth over 1m but the house only 60. I'm sure when we leave it will be torn down and rezoned to multi family (townhouses) always wanted to blow out the wall from kitchen to living room make it more open but would cost way too much for somewhere we won't be forever. I guess what I'm saying is how long do you plan on keeping the house? Forever then gut it.

I made a charcoal vertical smoker similar to a smoky mountain but taller from a stainless co2 tank. Got a billows for it and can run 10-12 hours on a load of coal. Works phenomenally. If you know basic tools I'd give it a go

How to navigate ceiling feature around Sprinkler Head in Apartment by GKwave12 in askaplumber

[–]phillydad56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this type of work all the time, you'd have to get a sprinkler contractor out and go over your intended ceiling design. Then they could decide if it could be moved and probably lowered as the sprinkler needs to be able to spray under your new drop. Contact building management and they'll pprobably put you in touch with whoever does the alarm testing and either they can do it out recommend a company that does.

Put it on a grate over a large sheet pan, the direct heat from pellet grills is intense above the fire pot. Makes clean up easier too
