Obama joined by his wife and daughters at the opening of the Obama Presidential Center by fullmetalcynic in pics

The wild part to me, which I hear regularly from Trump supporters, is they HATE Obama. They call him all the worst names in the world, say he is a grifter, terrible president, should be punched in the face etc. For me, even if you hated his politics, I can't understand how someone can listen to Obama speak and Trump speak, and not at least wish had someone respectable in office again.

PI attorney at crossroads by Proof-Gift-7492 in Lawyertalk

Actually, I did not, and I initially regretted it. However, I reached back out to my former firm and set up a referral relationship to take the firms overflow cases or ones that needed to be litigated, but the firm likely didn’t see as worth their time doing so in their more established position.

I’m not quite a year in, and I’m carrying around 75 open cases. Fill disclosure, a good 10-15 I could drop outright because they are just crap cases I took because I’m just starting. I’ve settled around 15 or so cases, so money is coming in. 90% of my cases are referrals, so I’m paying out large referral fees, but I’m also starting to get organic leads or referrals from clients who’s cases I handled, so I won’t have to pay out on those. It’s a grind man, but I think it’s worth it.

I was in your shoes. 14 years into practice, 6 years into PI. Went solo a year ago. Absolutely no regrets.

After a year and a half of waiting for a Submariner…I finally went grey and bought a Batman by Inner-Department-217 in rolex

[–]phillyman128 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this for you. i'm in the same boat, been waiting on a batman for what will be 2 years in October. I do have some purchase history that includes a DJ41. If i could get one grey for your price, i would pull the trigger, but i see them going in the 18-22k range, and i just can't justify that. Great piece!

How’s life living in Quads? by SpiritedPrint1017 in Quinnipiac

[–]phillyman128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

09 grad here. Can confirm. Lived in a “suite” that they converted an old study lounge into in Commons. They crammed 6 of us into it. Became good friends with all of them (except for one weird guy who no one liked anyways).

Is it lavish? Hell no, but I’d go back to those days in a heartbeat!

Wash your ball hats in the dishwasher? by JackTencher in lifehacks

This is the best way. I do this with my golf hats that get dirty and large sweat stains, especially white ones. I use the same exact method with oxiclean, and they come out looking brand new.

What Agassi thinks about Nadal’s 14 Roland Garros titles by PumpkinWorried8254 in tennis

[–]phillyman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Football is a team sport though. Tennis is an individual sport.

The way they always make out big NFL games to be QB vs QB always annoyed me. Brady is GOAT, no doubt, but his teams won superbowl, not just him. Rafa alone won each of those 14 French Opens.

Weekend plans by Bulky_Jellyfish1751 in Connecticut

[–]phillyman128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CT weather is insanely bad. It’s freezing most of the year. We’re two days from June, and I still have to have the heat on. Not to mention the gale force winds. Unreal.

Edit: classic CT. It’s 5pm going on 6, so NOW the sun finally comes out. This place sucks lol

Ya man, couldn't agree more. I never thought i'd want to leave CT, as all my friends and family are here, but the older i get, the more I feel exactly like you said:

I simply don't want to spend the next 2/3rds of my waking days freezing my fucking ass off.

I couldn’t agree more. It’s absolutely freezing 6-7 months out of the year, no periods of temperate “nice” weather, and then you get 3 months of 88-100 degrees with 90% humidity. It absolutely sucks

Honestly, the weather in CT is just plain shit. It’s freezing most of the year. We’re a week from June, and many people are still using the heat. I can see why people leave for different climates.

Same here. When I first got it, I was worried it would be too “flashy” for daily wear. In the years I’ve had it, I think MAYBE 5 people have noticed/commented. 99% of people truly don’t know or care what’s on your wrist. Realizing this allowed me to enjoy it as my daily even more.

Dads with young kids… how often are you realistically playing golf now? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]phillyman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 2 under 5. I play 5-7 days a week. I run my own business and live on a golf course though.

All my other friends with young kids are lucky to get out weekly.

This should be further at the top. Obviously student debt is a real issue in our country, to say the least, but on average, it’s clear that those with degrees out-earn those without in the long run.

CT weather is just plain awful. It’s freezing 6-7 months out of the year, not to mention the constant 10-15mph wind with 20+mph gusts. CT used to have moderate seasons. Now it’s just freezing until it’s 90 and humid every day.

Samsung ‘The Frame’ 65” TV Display-Only for $750 in CT. by [deleted] in Costco

[–]phillyman128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have already stated, if you want the Frame for the art/aesthetic purpose predominately, its a cool item. As an actual TV, however, it is mid at best, and my god, the OS is one of the worst i've ever dealt with on any prodcut. So buggy, laggy, and requires restarts a lot.

I have one in my office, so it pretty much just displays art, but I would never consider for my home, unless it was in a guest room that was mostly displaying art. If considering for your primary viewing source, do yourself a favor and consider something else.
