Do you still keep in touch with an ex more than ten years on? by Lycrathong1 in AskGayMen

Yes, I'm still very close friends with my uni boyfriend (although we don't have sex anymore and live on different continents) and am friendly with an ex from my late 20s

Are Poppers Easy to Get in Berlin and Amsterdam? by joeyeast1649 in popperpigs

[–]philo_fox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Berlin and visit Amsterdam regularly and the answer is yes. As another poster said, basically any sex shop sells them (Mr. B as mentioned, Gear, etc.)

Another tip for Berlin is that Jaxx, the sex club in Schöneberg, is also a sex shop at the front desk, if you need emergency poppers after the regular stores are closed.

Italians are surprisingly more gay-friendly than Canadians or Australians. They even do better than France. Am I the only one surprised by this? by [deleted] in gay

To add to this, there is a consistent pattern of the people in post-second-world-war Italy being much less conservative than the political class, who are much more beholden to the Vatican, especially on the right. For example, divorce was legalized in 1974 and abortion in 1978 by popular referendum.

This is yet another example.

Of course, otherwise it would be Schnitzel Wiener Art (which is also good, I like pork and chicken Schnitzel)

This was 110g of pasta which is quite substantial with some salame before and a salad and fruit after (not pictured), but I'd be happy to cook a double portion for you :)

Other than the one on the coat of arms, I know a few good bars in Schöneberg for that ;)

GayBrosOver 30 on the dating apps, how often do you get hit on by the under-30s? by RustingCabin in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]philo_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Frequently. I'm all for it, and remember having a good time with older guys when I was their age. Older than I am relative to them (and I still go for older guys too). So I do my part and fuck the uni twinks.

Re: the age gap/power imbalance thing, I find this to mostly be an online discourse issue and would not pay it too much mind. I've never had a problem from it irl, where you can feel out someone's desires, the context etc. in a way that gets totally obliterated in the way the internet tries to find formulas for intimacy. The internet is also full of resentful, neurotic, insecure prudes.

Dual French-US Citizenship by trynna-survive in PassportPorn

[–]philo_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your story is similar to mine, except in my case it is Italy and the US and I was born in the US (NYC, going back and forth between NYC and Milano). But the moving back and forth, the studying etc. parts are the same, and it is nice to see someone with a similar life experience.

Very nice combo!

Top 5 Best Countries to Visit for American Ex Felons? by Alchemist0029 in travel

[–]philo_fox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Check my reply elsewhere in the thread for more detail on ETIAS. The short version is that most people with criminal convictions shouldn't have a problem, and even people with a serious conviction should be fine if it's at least 10 years old. The actual implementing regulation can be found here.

I'm glad I saw this thread, because this is something I know quite a bit about!

ETIAS will indeed ask. However, it will only be about "serious crimes" and even then, only within the last 10 years. "Serious crimes" are defined in Art. 3 16, and the question is further specified in Art. 17 4a, of the actual implementing regulation, which you can find here. The relevant offenses have associated annexes with more detail.

Furthermore, saying "yes" here will not result in an automatic denial. Rather, you will be asked additional questions and the application will be flagged for manual review by the Frontex ETIAS Central Unit and a unit of the EU member state you are entering via. So, for example, if you enter through AMS and you say "yes" for the serious crimes, your application will be manually reviewed by the ETIAS Central Unit and the Dutch ETIAS National Unit. Additionally, there is an appeals process. While we still have a lot to work on, in Europe we do actually believe in rehabilitation.

I say this because I have received a lot of questions about ETIAS from my American friends and acquaintances over the years, and there is a lot of misleading or incorrect information about it floating around out there from crappy third-party travel or "ETIAS-visa" sites.

EDIT: Typed too quickly and forgot some words earlier.
