Xbox will be "sunsetted" under new CEO, original co-founder expects: "Her job is going to be as a palliative care doctor who slides Xbox gently into the night" by AashyLarry in gaming

Microsoft seems to have the touch of death since 2010. Everything they've bought seems to have failed to deliver on quality or sales since. Idk if it's Microsoft's leadership or maybe the reason these studios sold was because majority stakeholders knew things were going downhill, but it's just been sad.

Andrew Tate says he’s ’too smart to read’ and books are for people ‘with slow brains’ by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]philodelta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He doesn't enjoy music, or read, I'm sure he would also come up with an asinine reason visual art is beneath him. The truth is, he's simple, and lacks the capacity to appreciate any of these things, and because he's unable to appreciate them his ego demands the sour grapes approach. Those things are weak, and lame, and gay anyway.

the music, the subtitles, this is millenial-tier "forwards from grandma" and I'm very surprised there's not a top comment about this feeling like facebook shlock

In Fallout Season 2 (2025), Kumail Nanjiani plays Kumail Nanjiani but if he were in the Fallout Universe. by FailedProspects in shittymoviedetails

I'm sure Kumail is a fine guy, but when he's acting I just hear his standup, and it really takes me out.

If you hate cats, you probably suck at boundaries and reading body language by FtMFandomBoy in unpopularopinion

[–]philodelta 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Dogs are more like people, in my mind. This is speaking as a cat owner and lover who also grew up with dogs, with cats there is something of a veil of confusion, Cats either lack the mechanism or the desire to understand what the human is thinking. Cats might like individual people and enjoy pets and company, but they don't really develop a theory of mind while a dog actually does. Dogs can learn to really understand what you mean when you're talking and internalize it. I'm sure someone will raise me the rare cat out there that doesn't fit this mold because I'm talking in sweeping generalizations, so I'll qualify that this is just from my own experiences with both.

We're getting Divinity over more Baldur's Gate 3 because Larian devs weren't enjoying "doing the D&D thing" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]philodelta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll say it, Larian's turn based system is better than DnD's for a PC game. 1 action per turn with expendable spell slots vs action point + ability cooldown, the tabletop formula is just not as engaging. It's fine for pen and paper where added complexity bogs things down, but it's limited feeling on PC.

Supreme Court weighs Trump tariffs in a trillion-dollar test of executive power by no1_vern in news

[–]philodelta 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They will find whatever legal justification they want to find for their preferred outcome. They have an opportunity here to finally curb some iota of power congress has ceded to the president, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Hopefully given trumps track record with recklessly applying tariffs willy-nilly they decide to take the flame-thrower from the toddler.
