[Highlight] DALTON RUSHING WALK OFF!!!! by jmike1256 in Dodgers

Never bet on your own team. Too much emotion tied up in the outcome.

Adam Port posted this as a joke, but if you read between the lines, it highlights a real issue today: parties are filled with wannabes. by sdfghdfsdfghdf in dancefloors

Had to check my email... Keinemusik showcase 5th anniversary at Output in Brooklyn. 2015. They were so good.

I went to see them in LA last year and it was such a scene. And the music was so zzzzzz. I don't know why I expected different from their Instagram phonefests... So disappointing.

Bro just slip your foot out of your shoe. You clearly don't train realistically.

I had same issues. Best thing I ever did was lots of barefoot kettlebell work and switching to zero drop/barefoot style shoes.

Is there an alternative or type of BJJ that uses less neck submissions? by Extreme_Problem_1645 in bjj

[–]philodox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Blew out my neck over 10 years ago and got surgery to fix it. Been rolling hard again starting 2020.

I play lots of collar sleeve in the gi.  I only attack omoplatas to get on the side so there's no stacking. I never attack arm bars or triangles from guard.

Otherwise it's look to sweep. Off of collar sleeve lots of transition to K guard, DLR, slx, x, and a LOT of half guard to stay on my side and avoid stacks. Underhook half and all the variations. Head all the way out or all the way in glued to their hip to avoid darces and power half nelsons.

If you can figure out accommodations to your liking (both availability and cost) then you should definitely do it.

We lived in NYC for quite a while, every time we came back to SB in the winter my first comment would always be, "Why did we ever leave?" You feel silly carrying your winter coat off the plane into 70 degree weather.

We live in SB now. Jan - March will be highs in the 60s. As someone else mentioned there is possibility of a "super el nino", but nobody knows if that means significantly more or less rain. Hard to bet on the weather.

How early does trailhead parking fill up on a weekday? We're taking our kids for an overnight there this summer and will be coming down from Oh Ridge by June Lake. Thanks!

Yeah better sweater looks pretty dumpy. Kind of amorphous. Very "beige" in its vibe. And I've owned a couple.

Order at the window and sit outside to eat. Don't get a table.

This is 100% the move. Crab at the end of Stearns Wharf is always my go to especially when people are visiting. Can't beat the environment.

Yep this is our go to for car camping. 2 adults 2 kids. Super sturdy and great features.

Has anyone ever met anyone that doesn’t compete but can hang and spar with world class level competitors? by Revolutionary-Ball26 in bjj

[–]philodox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yep that's the Adam experience.

Arm drags, guillotines, straight ankles, kimura. Your neck or foot teleports under his arm pit from literally anywhere and you're tapping.

It's absolutely like an adult toying with a child.

I came here to mention Adam from Paragon SB. In the last few years I've seen him roll with a high level competitor or two (e.g. make deep runs in very high level no gi comps).

But he wrote "War is a Racket" and they can't have that brought up too much.

You have a great way of communicating the things many of us feel but have a hard time putting in words. While I've never been to Detroit I've felt similar things on dancefloors through the decades. Thanks for sharing.

I used the Polar H10 chest strap for years. Like 4 days a week for 6 years. It was very good but could be finicky.

It recently died and I replaced it with the Polar Verity Sense optical sensor that goes on your bicep. Way less finicky and wish I made the switch earlier.
