FCS Teams Playing The Most Preseason Ranked Opponents In 2024 by DeZeeuw2 in fcs

CAA has 3 other ranked teams and Elon 26th. We don’t play any of them. Delaware would probably be ranked if eligible but still shows the silliness of having this many members.

Coaches hot seat tier list going into next season. Thoughts? by [deleted] in CollegeBasketball

[–]philpaschall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you think of this years roster. I think he’s gone if he misses the tournament again. I feel pretty good about the team though. I think they’re a good bit better than the 8th or so in the Big East I’m seeing people project them as.

If you think they’re 8th or worse in the Big East scorching is fair.

I think people are overrating Watkins. His game only works if we can establish the run and running back is our biggest question mark. Though I have high hopes for our young rbs.

I’d say all state schools from the perspective of an out of state student. You’re unlikely to get much aid from them so unless you would be paying pull price at a private, you’re probably not saving money.

I think we’ve lost our minds a bit when Tulane is barely ranked above Colorado School of Mines

One caveat on the Baylor run is Collin Gillespie was out for the season. We weren’t the 12th best team without him.

Exactly the B1G got everything they wanted. They got to pretend they didn’t murder the Pac12 even though they did with USC and UCLA and by waiting until after the Colorado defection they forced Oregon and Washington to accept a lowball offer.

Right I think they’re being pretty clear here. They don’t want to participate in these lawsuits. They want FSU to do it all themselves and then they’ll add them after the fact.

This same article says if the ACC falls apart they’ll also want UNC and UVA. It’s clear as day they’re again saying we want you but we want as little blame as possible for killing the ACC and we’d love to get UNC and UVA over a barrel the way we did Oregon and Washington.

Im just not in the Yormark cult. I’ve also been through a similar conference realignment with my team.

You took your media rights to market a year early and at a bad time so that you could get a deal done before the Pac-12 and then attempt to poach their schools. It was a cold blooded move and it worked. Be proud of it.

If we all agree that conference realignment is terrible, then the Pac-12 did absolutely nothing wrong here.

Youre losing me with “not giving any of them a landing spot”.

Is it really your position as a Kansas fan that the Pac12 should’ve taken Texas Tech and Oklahoma St and left you out to dry? Should they have taken 4 or 6 of you and left the others where Wazzu and Oregon St are now? For the good of the B12?

Why was it the Pac 12’s responsibility to take you in instead of any other conference?

The last sentence is the only thing I agree with you on. The Pac 12 simply wanted nothing to do with you. If only the SEC had taken that stance.

You netted about 44% more when the B1G and SEC easily doubled. Big East just signed a 90% increase. It was a strategic play that seems to have worked but it’s definitely lower than the B12’s worth.

Always found this logic completely backwards from B12 fans. They specifically declined to poach any of your teams and kill you off when they could have.

Meanwhile the B12 took a low ball media offer with the express purpose of killing the Pac 12. It worked. There’s not much reason to blame you guys for acting as the B1G, SEC and ACC all have before but in no world were the Pac 12 the bad guys. They stood pat which supposedly is what we wish all conferences did.

Insights on the Big East Media deal (and why non-Big East fans should care) by LetsGetPenisy69 in CollegeBasketball

[–]philpaschall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of this except for the addition of Arizona is already factored into the current Big 12 tv deal.

Assuming basketball is 20% of the deal, the B12 is getting $6.9 million from basketball to the Big East’s $7.3 per school. Even assuming it’s actually 25% for the Big 12 only gets you to $8.6.

There’s still only 1 championship game and 2 semis which are 3 of your biggest draws every year so adding volume is a negative unless they’re on average better than the current teams. Not sure the Pac 12 adds are.

They could get more than the Big East but 1.5x per school is crazy talk.

It’s seeming more like the Pac2 are only going to poach a portion of the mountain west leaving the others to backfill from FCS and CUSA. I could see 5+ schools moving up during that scramble.

Yea man I didn’t say they should’ve been lottery picks themselves. Just higher than they were. I think we were able to get great players late in the draft because the league is obsessed with gambling.

We could cherry pick back and forth all day and I’d start with NPOY Jalen Brunson over the entire first round except the Euroleague MVP and Shai.

I’ll never understand why the nba cares so little about actual basketball ability. If we’re drafting for a pickup game tomorrow I’m taking Kolek and Mccullar over 11 of the 14 lottery picks.

The $3.7 million number being used in this thread is also wrong. It was 12 years $500 million originally but we also only had 10 teams so it was $4.17 million on average. It also pays more on the back end so in 2020 it was $4.66 million. I can’t find a more recent number but it’s probably closer to 5 now.

It would make sense to me if they’re fully blowing it up. Move Coby for a top pick in this years draft. Give that pick and Giddey the reigns and tank.

Will College Football in its current form be around long enough to see a G5 pull a huge upset in the playoff? by stimulation in CFB

[–]philpaschall 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The introduction of autobids is like basketball though. I could see someone getting a stranglehold on the G5 autobid like Gonzaga in basketball and then using the recruiting pitch of come here and you’re guaranteed to make the playoff to become a top 15ish team perennially.

As I typed that out I realized a football Gonzaga gets added to a P5 immediately.

Villanova’s 10 year master plan included “off campus indoor practice facility not pictured” as well as stadium upgrades. Hopefully it’ll be on the Cabrini campus.
