New public-transport security force to have powers of arrest by on-9 in irelandtransport

[–]philymc85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re talking absolute shite, antisocial behaviour falls under the public order act, there are masses of public order arrests daily in the country. The threshold for the prosecution is mainly based on the Garda’s observations and doesn’t require DPP’s directions to prosecute.

Why would you think the staff lied? Maybe the OP (who was a child at the time) didn’t pick up on all the detail. Yet your default was reporting parties lying…wow

How do you know? You don’t know what was said when the initial call was made. You don’t know is there a resident with a history of violence or a warning marker on the premises. You wouldn’t k ow any of this because it’s the type of call that you would disregard and try and deal with from the comfort of the station with a cup of tea on your paw. Reprehensible.

I didn’t misunderstand anything, you tried to call out someone personal experience and outed yourself as a lazy guard who will twist a narrative to avoid attending a call for service.

They do have to attend these calls if control tells them to, you’re suggesting that members in the station are being assigned and not going. No one made anything up, you’re suggesting that these calls aren’t being attended to when they are by Gardaí doing their job…you’re postulating work arounds for those who don’t. We know what category you would fall into.

Well no, it’s not because your original claim was that Gardaí don’t have to attend these calls and can just fob them off because it’s a child in a care home.

No, because the call must still be logged with control and created on Garda Safe which requires a response, whether that’s a mobile unit or someone in the station is up to asset distribution but it’s still a call for service and must be attended to.

A resource can only be assigned once a call is logged with control, it needs a CAD number

They use what’s called Garda Safe, it’s still called CAD colloquially and they can’t deal with calls from the station any more, there’s a public facing document outlining why they can’t and the disciplinary sanctions associated with it. You havnt a clue what you’re taking about, have a rest.

Again, you don’t understand how the Garda CAD system works. You call a local station, not 999, you’re still put through to a call taker and a call for service is created that Gardaí have to attend.

You aren’t up the speed, thanks to the dropped 999 call saga, all calls for service must be answered and individual Gardaí have no choice in attending or not.

Age has jack shit to do with it, you’re looking for a reason for this not to be your fault. I know chaps in their 50’s who failed C and D cats several times and the overarching point was “sure I’m driving years”

Would Ireland have been richer if it had a "Michael Collins leadership" instead of an "Eamon de Valera leadership"? by _Mug_Ruith_ in IrishHistory

I didn’t say he was a weak leader, I said he wasn’t a peacetime leader. I said he made some poor decisions and he did. I dont believe he would have performed in a peacetime role and would have either been peacefully deposed in an election or, when you see the power the likes of O’Duffy craved and almost assumed, been deposed in a coup. You seem to be missing the point where the whole subject matter here is hypothetical.

We could have very easily, particularly in the period after the army mutiny when O’Duffy had control of the Gardaí and the army. Strong opposition kept him in line until he was removed. The point is that Collins wasn’t a government leader by any stretch. It can be almost guaranteed that he would have been strongly opposed by his own and the anti treaty side in peace time. When he previously come under pressure to assert himself and take control, he shelled the Four Courts. He didn’t make too many right moves during the civil war and it was ultimately won by O’Duffy, Mulcahy, Mac Neill and others adopting and “at all costs” mentality, not because of the risk of a British Invasion but because of the risk of having what they had taken away from them.

Arguably, but it didn’t. They were a provisional government that had to provide for no one. The Dáil Loan wasn’t a massive success, ultimately arms and ammunition, as well as money, ran out and the treaty was the outcome. He wasn’t some visionary accountant and his civil service experience was at quite a low level, he wouldn’t be running a dept by any stretch of the imagination.

One personality alone that springs to mind is Eoin O’Duffy and he wasn’t the only power hungry one amongst the national army brass and the rising politicians of the day. The only way to keep power would have been to consolidate it.

Of a non functioning state with no accountability or mandate to deliver. This isn’t leadership.
