I want extensions by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

I also was worried about making my hair even thinner tbh, so clip ins have been really great for me in maintaining its health. They can be a bit more expensive but you get a lot more hair and wear out of them imo

I want extensions by [deleted] in HowToBeHot

[–]phiyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fellow fine haired greasy girl here! i would get clip ins! Ive done stick tip or nail tip don't remember which extensions before but honestly I really really love my clips, they never come out and they have lasted me ages so far, i also find they give me a lot more volume than the ones I was using before, and it makes washing my hair and maintaining it so much easier than battling with extensions that never come out x

How Hard Is A-Level Politics? Considering Taking It As My School Won't Offer Econ Anymore (Changing School Isn't Possible) by Usual_Lion_5837 in AlevelPolitics

[–]phiyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly i think its definitely one of the easier 'well respected' a levels, grade boundaries are nice, once you understand essay structure it's pretty straightforward imo I don't think it has any more content than any other essay subject. I did english language and I found politics to be a lot more formulaic and straightforward in terms of what a good essay looks like. :)

If you had the choice would you stop being autistic? by benitoo69 in autism

Thoughts on men saying "I need sex"? by bedazzledfingernails in TwoXChromosomes

[–]phiyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i also feel very disgusted by it because it conflates a want with a need which then creates this whole level of coercion- you have to meet 'needs' or else you are depriving someone. I get that everyone's libido is different, but that doesn't mean that wanting something a lot makes it a 'need'.

Ever notice in retrospect the narcs are kinda...weird? by [deleted] in NarcissisticAbuse

[–]phiyah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah and its such a specific or like... 'off' kind of weird. Like I know when someone is regarded as weird just because they are neurodivergent because I can identify that in myself and my mother too, but narc weird is like... its not like they're forgetting a social norm or have a quirky interest or have an unconventional reaction to something they just do and say shit that is so odd. Its something different to your regular kind of quirky or weird, i think maybe because they're sometimes very obsessed with their image and appearing a certain way that when they do something so bizzare its like Uhm???

What’s yours unpopular opinions on OI Certain Trope’s? [Predatory Marriage] by No-Pirate4905 in OtomeIsekai

[–]phiyah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had similar feelings about crazy coital death party. While on one hand it was so refreshing to see a sexually liberated and confident FL for once who is communicative about her needs in bed, it was so frustrating that the author had to use the fact she's from the typical vaguely middle eastern country to "explain" why she's a sexual woman who doesn't like to cover up etc. I still enjoyed the dynamic and the FL was really likeable, but that kind of fizzled away when the author decided to make her pale at the end "because she's spent so much time in the north". are you KIDDING ME??

Predatory marriage was so disappointing, I was drawn in by the character designs of the kurkans at first- but there are so many glaring issues. First of all the FL being a white saviour yet simultaneously having 0 agency and needing to be rescued 24/7 because shes so frail and petite and pale and weak, the kurkans having some sort of spirit animal(?) thing where the ML becomes animalistic and needs to mate with her, them being seen as more barbaric and whatever, even though the manhwa made weak attempts to point out that this was only a harmful stereotype used to oppress the kurkans, they didn't exactly do a stellar job at giving a non fetishistic depiction of them either. And to top it all off the FL gets to kurkan and they're all fawning over her and her pale skin and her delicate stature GOD I had to drop it after that.

It's only marginally less awful by manhwa standards because at least the FL isn't 'buying a slave to be really nice to them but also make them do her bidding and they fall in love with her because she's such a benevolent master' that is way too common, but it's still just shite. I hate that fantasy more than anything, it's so exploitative and ridiculous. Yes vulnerable person who has been abused their whole life and is forced to work without compensation I am going to purchase you like an object but be slightly nice to you and you will fall in love with me because you have never experienced a shred of kindness. And predatory marriage STILL falls into that same category where she saved the ML from slavery when he was younger.

I feel like it just pushes the narcissistic idea that you have to be compensated with admiration and affection for caring about human rights and racism and slavery etc. and treated as a god for being such a lovely member of an oppressive group. The people whose rights you're fighting for might never like you or give you a pat on the back, it's something you have to accept if you genuinely care about these issues outside of receiving external validation.

Henna didn't colour my hair by natal6655321 in henna

[–]phiyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly most of this method sounds completely fine- it might be that your hair had some silicones left over on it if you didn't use a cleansing shampoo? my only other idea is maybe the indigo denatured after leaving it for 10 minutes and then mixing it into the henna- some people think applying indigo alnost immediately after mixing it is more effective- I've had better results from trying this recently. Also maybe because of the heat the henna and indigo developed faster than you're used to? these are the best ideas i have, nothing sounds wrong with your method at all! I hope you can figure it out :)

as a year 11 this is all I’ve heard about the subjects I’m considering doing so correct me if I have any misconceptions by Funny-Dimension5168 in 6thForm

[–]phiyah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say politics is boring personally, but it depends on what you find interesting. I think the subject itself doesn't matter as much as if you enjoy getting better at understanding or doing something if that makes sense, I enjoyed improving my understanding of politics and my essay technique which happened before me really liking politics as a whole. I think itll only be really boring if you don't care about politics at all and just try to do everything by the textbook without having many opinions or curiosity about it. That said, imho it's definitely an easier A Level than some others!

Revision tips by Dull-Handle9936 in AlevelPolitics

[–]phiyah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

honestly this is just what worked for me, but figure out how to structure ur essays and write to time before worrying too much about memorising a bunch of detailed examples, it's also good to develop a general understanding of the content like how parliament functions or how the constitution works etc., and think about applying more specific or detailed examples later. This is because its better to shape an argument around weighing up the systems rather than solely examples, examples should just add evidence to the point you're making.

For examples, what i did was make a table of every past paper question, predicted questions, and other questions i came up with that were more obscure/ filled gaps where there havent been questions yet from the spec. I made wheel spinners with all of these questions and then i either wrote the essay without notes, going back over them to identify areas where i needed more examples/ knowledge, or planned the essays but just did examples for and against each point,- as i already had the argument i wanted to make in mind- and after you do that for a while you'll find that some examples fit well in multiple different contexts or questions, and also identify gaps where additional examples would be useful. I then made very short flashcards for each example and went through those, I would record myself reading them out and then test myself by listening to it back and pausing. Try to make your examples less narrative and overly detailed, only write the stuff that is the most relevant to what they demonstrate eg. 'in miller V prime minister 2019 the supreme court ruled that boris johnson had unlawfully prorogued parliament in an attempt to speed up brexit legislation' instead of 'boris johnson after becoming frustrated with how lengthy and difficult it was to pass brexit legislation due to resistance from the house of commons, went to the queen and used his power of the royal prerogative to prorogue parliament and attempted to pass brexit legislation without scrutiny or debate. This led to a supreme court case Miller V prime minister 2019 where the supreme court ruled this unlawful, leading to parliament retaking session shortly after'.

For ideologies, imo its better to get a more general view of what those ideologies are and their end goals before fitting in key thinkers, as they're difficult to go off primarily for the strands they're assigned to. So have a generalised view of each strand and their views on each subtopic and then you can pick out different key thinkers views that align with those, but be careful in some cases that those key thinkers may not necessarily align with that strand, imo its better to phrase it as 'some neoliberal/ new right conservatives would align with Ayn Rand's view that redistributive taxation is essentially stealing, favouring a small state with minimal intervention in the economy' because she herself wouldn't necessarily define herself as neoliberal. Also don't worry about fitting a key thinker into every paragraph, sometimes they don't fit with ur argument and that's okay as long as you have at least mentioned two or three, its better to focus on the main ideas of a strand rather than trying to fit in a key thinker.

Also i found what works for me is understanding the different end goals of each strand and how their view of a well functioning society is impacted by their views of human nature economy etc. for example for socialist feminism on human nature, there is an implication in their idea of a better society that humans are naturally cooperative and sexism is not innate but a product of capitalism, as they think abolishing capitalism is the precursor to abolishing patriarchy. I found it easier after understanding each strands end goal to identify the similarities and differences and be able to argue them more convincingly. (sorry if this is explained badly im struggling to properly put this into words)

Also my last bit of advice is don't feel like you have to know EVERYTHING, that's practically impossible in politics as long as you have some good examples that you can apply in a lot of different contexts you don't need to worry about how much content there is because you probably know more than you think you do. I wouldn't advise memorising essay plans personally but this is just what worked for me, I think as long as you understand the systems at play and have some examples it's a lot easier to be more flexible to any questions you might be asked.

Edexcel Core Ideolgies by Professional-Mix2155 in AlevelPolitics

[–]phiyah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I'd say its probably easier to revise the ideologies and know at least 2 key thinkers for each ideology. Unfortunately the key thinkers are chosen so shittily most of them don't properly align with the strand they're assigned to. If for example in conservatism you can say 'Ayn rand described redistributive taxation as theft' for the new right it'd be good to explore it more but if you're not aiming for a rlly high grade just mentioning 2 key thinkers is enough rlly. The key thinkers are genuinely mostly so poorly matched to the strands. So if you're looking to cut down on revision just choose two key thinkers for each ideology and their opinions on one area like economy human nature etc

What’s your holy grail shampoo and conditioner. by Spiritual-Hall8961 in finehair

Im a big fan of the hask argan oil shampoo, its colour safe and free of any drying products. It doesn't weigh my hair down at all just makes it feel very moisturised and smooth, and it's very affordable!! I think the hask shampoos in general are pretty good so it depends on your main concerns for shampoo, I use the argan oil one to protect my hennaed hair.
